Maybe today we’ll get some more interesting quotes from the Dominic Cummins’ Book of Kids Cartoons!!
A thought just occurred to me re the above – “The night time is the right time to commit a crime, because there’s no-one around to see you driving across a country in lockdown!!” :yahoo:
You’re not wrong!!
Maybe today we’ll get some more interesting quotes from the Dominic Cummins’ Book of Kids Cartoons!!
Well, it will be very interesting later on today – he’s going to make a press statement and take questions. Having seen throughout his tenure with Boris as PM, just how dismissive he is of everyone around ( beneath ) him, as per his general demeanour and the various words to the press outside his house etc, I personally doubt his ability to keep a lid on it all under intense press scrutiny.
I heard on a news interview with Tim Montgomerie ( who thinks he should step down ) that his wife wrote a piece for the Guardian about iirc ‘family life under self isolation when a family member is showing symptoms of Covid19’, that covered this period that is under the microscope at the moment. In it there was no mention of the trip, which would indicate that she, at the very least, thought it was dodgy.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
Today’s episode consisted of Grant Shapps giving us some interesting details about Transport and expenditure along with their aims and progress followed by watching the pair of them tip-toe through the Dominic Cummins landmines laid by the media!! What a bore!!! :negative:
Is anyone else getting fed up with the ‘Daily coronavirus Update? I just wish it had a moderator with the balls to yell ‘Answer the damned question’ at each time the Government or ‘Scientific’ Advisor just restates the question and moves on to the next person.
We are both getting just as irritated by the media questions, they are rarely about the latest statements, but just digging over the previous days Update, however, if the various Ministers actually answered the questions ( as stated above ) the media might get better at doing their job.
What started off as a sit down and listen programme, pausing and referencing some of the slides, has now turned into a “video it and FF through the crap”.
As it happens my brother ended up in the hospital at the backend of November with what is now the COVID symptoms.
Just about the same time as my Uncle-in Law ( Wife’s Aunt’s partner ). He treated it at home, only going to the doctors in early/mid December, they diagnosed it as severe infected bronchitis ( or some such ) and prescribed steroids and anti-biotics but he didn’t improve until after Christmas. We spoke on the phone not long after New Years Day and he could only get two or three words out before hacking and taking in a deep breath. He called it better, I called it sounding like he was still at Death’s Door!!
I jokingly asked whether he’d been to China recently, as Wuhan was just coming in to the news, – well maybe China came to him, because he did a couple of airport runs for some family members, dropping them off and picking them up from a couple of different airports not long before getting ill in the first place.
I didn’t know it either, Bob, just took a walk down Google Lane and came across the ONS site and found that and lots more info like it.
Considering that our population has (I believe) the highest average age in the country, that is surprising, until you take account of the preponderance of rural areas and villages scattered apart.
You’re actually second, behind North Norfolk for over 65’s.
I found THIS ONS chart which made for interesting reading.Relevant part is :- Figure 7: Coastal areas have a higher proportion of the population who are aged 65 years and over
Leave things as is, Lee, if it goes to keeping the lights on. :good:
All those who think a visit to the Peak District or the Lake District might make for a nice ‘day’ trip should think again – that area , along with the North East of England, Brent and Harrow make up the Top Ten in the charts for Covid19 cases per 100,000 population.
They might bring home a souvenir they don’t want.
Info from HERE .
Couldn’t advise on that, maybe the graphics card guy has had experience of it?? Worth an ask maybe.
The PSU idea is interesting, I would need a Molex to 6 pin PCIe adaptor, but has anyone else tried powering a PCIe card from an external supply ?
Just looked at THIS post on a graphics card forum, he seems to be a go-to guy for any questions on powering graphics cards. He’s also provided links to the various connectors.

Great to hear that you’re with us when life allows.
Wishing you and your family all the best for the current tribulations, plus the same for any that dare raise their head in the future. :good:@bdthree – Lee, this is a bit weird.
I’ve just noticed that Richard’s avatar was in the Who’s Online box, but couldn’t see what he’d done. I did a search and clicked on the name on his previous posts, and I’ve replied to it.
However, looking at latest Topics, Replies and Forums and I can’t see where that post by Richard, and the reply by me is placed on the forum.
Strange. It seems to only be in Richard’s Activity page, that he posted 5 hours ago, but showing nowhere else.
And I wanted to fit a graphics card too but I can’t because although the motherboard has a 16X pcie slot, the PC uses an external power brick like a laptop and an internal pico PSU with no pcie connectors and a TOTAL output of 150W.
Would one of THESE solve that problem for you, Graham?? with perhaps an adapter to convert from molex to whatever the card specifies. If it needs more than 2A there are bigger, but dearer options.
, I know someone who has NordVPN and he’s complaining that it’s almost unusable at the moment.
With the whole working from home world trying to access their office, that’s hardly surprising, it’s overloaded past the anticipated usage levels.
Perhaps this is the key, where I’m exiting into the big wide world.
Your private slip road on to the Internet Superhighway!! :yahoo: Nice!!!
I suppose the answer to that would lie in how the VPN companies structure is set out and whether it varies from the everyday internet structure. I imagine that there would be a variance as the VPN companies would want it to be targeted rather than any old random around the house route. Getting into the realms of Cloud Thinking here, so that’s where I start to guess with logic!!  :yahoo:
I had a thought about my previous comment only applying to the TT broadband, and was going to amend it, but actually the supply/usage aspect could just as easily apply to 4G as well,.
Could it be a version of the old contention issue, but on a National scale as opposed to a local scale.
With home working on a huge scale, those at home using the net much more in general, but also for a lot more, are the National ‘pipes and flow’, for want of a better phrase, be under more pressure and those in charge of balancing the load haven’t got it right yet? Somewhat like the old National Grid, before better capability and management came in, being prone to voltage drops and power cuts??
