Now it’s a permanent silver fixture and I like it!
The wife would always tell people that I was the ‘tall chap with a ginger beard and glasses’ and I used to say that when there was more salt than pepper in my beard I’d shave it off. Now it’s all white with a smattering of lone brown whiskers it’s still there, where it’s stayed for the last nigh on 50 years. :good:
I’ve got an Epson WorkForce AIO and when I first tried to connect it to my network it wouldn’t play ball.
Iirc I had to connect it via USB first of all, let it set up and then run through the WiFi connection.
@drezha Yes, that’s the one. :good:
I see the socket still has the original face-plate – one of THESE will both tidy the appearance up ( losing the plug in filter ) and should also stabilise/improve speeds ( not hugely, but every little can help ). I found those old filters to be a real fault liability and a real PITA.
The last time my hair was this length was 50 years ago, and then it was a fashion statement/rebellion against the ‘short back and sides’ of my school years!!! :yahoo:
I’ve got an appointment for a cut next Monday, along with the wife, and that still won’t be soon enough!!! The temptation to trim the beard and just carry right on all over has been there, but I just couldn’t.
The wife went to the osteopath on Thursday last week and has been comfortable ( back wise ) for the first time in a month.
It’s good to be back to some semblance of normality, even if that’s within the parameters of the ‘New Normal’!!
Is that your landline ( Origin ) connection?? If so that pattern is typical of a bad joint/poor connection/random water ingress type fault. ( It also fits the pattern of dropping at periods of high usage by others { outside your household } – 2pm to 8pm!!)
Have you taken the face-plate off your Master Socket and connected to the internal test socket using a filter?? That would eliminate any internal wiring problems if the same pattern emerged.
Posted my other reply before reading this one. Glad you’re home, but sorry I hit it on the nail – that was supposed to be tongue in cheek, not an actual prediction!!!
I wouldn’t have thought that someone with a stoma bag and a portion of their bowel missing would suffer from constipation, but that could just be my naivete on the subject.
Whichever way it moves, good luck and you’re right to take it back to them if their first efforts fail to resolve the issue. Just consider it an MoT failure that’s going back into the garage for them to get it right at the second attempt!! Once done you’ll be good for another year, at least!! :good: :yahoo:
It makes sobering reading. As SWMBO and I are both registered disabled, if we weren’t both so bloody-minded, we might be made anxious. As it is, we just carry on as best we can, giving thanks for a lovely, helpful family.
That’s good to hear, Bob. Are you posting from the hospital or are you home, still waiting??
Either way, wishing you all the best!!👍👍
Let’s hope that all the traffic flowing down to the SW doesn’t bring anything nasty down with them. The whole of that part of the country has fared well so far, biggest concentration being around Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth.
I suspect a lot of care companies would welcome a government buy-out.
My thoughts too, and provided standards of care didn’t fall – and there is surely enough focus and impetus to meet that requirement – you could get the Government’s Care Sector Benefits expenditure down by increasing capital expenditure. Now is the best time to borrow to invest in infrastructure, whether that be for housing, roads, water, rail, telecom, green products or whatever. Obama did that quite successfully after the ’08 crash. We should be able to do similar things here, Boris has even announced a few recently, with some road projects.
That PFI story is obscene and the start of the reversal of that trend can’t come soon enough. Hospitals shouldn’t be spending more on debt interest than the cost of a new wing or huge numbers of staff.
Profits should not go out of the country, but should be re-invested in the industry, be that water, electricity or any other. Again I’m not promoting Nationalisation, but there has to be a better way.
We moved our April trip to Murcia on to October, so that will give us plenty of time and opportunity to see the lay of the land internationally.
We also kept the insurance policy, just paying a small fee to change the travel dates, as Covid19 was not excluded from the reasons to cancel, which most policies changed shortly after that.
Other than that travelling abroad will be on hold for while, unless we find somewhere in Murcia to spend the winter months, and even then, we’ll see how things stand before committing to go.
Now I can see where all the latest rants originated – overflowing bile!!! 😉
Seriously though, good luck tomorrow for the hoped for outcome. Expect to be sucked in, sorted and kicked out, but I reckon you ( and SWMBO ) will be happier with you back home ASAP after having your problem dealt with.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers. :good:
It must be broken, I’ve not had a pm for about a year. 😆
Have you tried Right Guard?? Have your best friends not told you yet?? 😉
I had Sky ADSL, 17 Meg ( Sky Hub SR102 ), I went to Sky Fibre ( 37Meg ) in August 2018, ( kept Sky Hub SR102 ) upped it to 66 meg in April 2020 and have not changed my ( Sky Hub SR102 ) in that whole time. Even the initial upgrade to fibre was handled remotely.
I recall lots of people that had early BT or TalkTalk fibre who had problems because of the ( White Box ) fibre modem ( BL and Steve come to mind ) but that has all passed me by, I’m glad to say.
I can’t forget her anniversary, I’m cleaver, I mad sure it is the same as mine
 :yahoo:
You are having a rough time with EDF Graham, but I believe that might be because you aren’t on a DD of some nature.
Bob – EDF ( or any other, as far as I know ) don’t do DD’s on their pre-pay, /pay as you go meters. Their only advice, to prevent problems over the Covid19 period, is to top up more than you would normally, to ensure you don’t run out.
That’s chocolate teapot advice, made even worse for Graham as the meter is preventing him from topping up, except by using the buttons on the meter to input a long 20 digit UTRN code – a horrible experience as you scroll through the digits and numbers selecting each one!!
After an email exchange with MB Customer Services they have arranged for my local dealer to honour the free service given by the dealer I bought the car from last year. I’ve just rung and booked it in for the 15th July, the car will get a £325 service for free. I’ve also booked an MoT for the same day. They’re even collecting it and dropping it back to me.
Result!! :good: :yahoo:
All PM’s and replies showing up now. :good: Cheers, Lee.
But shows my attention to detail is serious lacking!
So long as you remember the really important things in life like the wife’s birthday and anniversaries!!! :yahoo:
The DVLA has recently announced an extension for some motorists. Motorists whose image expired between February 1 and August 31 will be entitled to an automatic extension for seven months.
I wonder whether the renewed license will be different to the expired one now we are no longer in the EU, the old symbol on the license of the “UK” in a circle of Eurostars will now be out of date too!!Actually, I Googled the answer before posting and saw this quote from a FOI request.
“Outside the provisions of the FOIA we can advise that the EU flag will be removed
from UK driving licences. It is our current intention to keep the EU branding during the
transition period, which ends on 31 December 2020. The details and data on the
current driving licence are required by the UN Convention on Road Traffic so any
further changes are likely to be minimal. ”Mine runs out in December 2021, so they may have a more UK-centric license by then!! :yahoo:
History will not be kind to this Government.
I don’t disagree with that statement at all, however if history is written by anybody similar to those people reporting on life at the moment, the picture won’t be pretty.
Hopefully the historians recounting the whole woeful tale will either be impartial, or at the very least, objective, which is more than can be said about the current crop ( crap? ) of journalists.
The Government is pressurised by the media to do something, or criticised for not doing something, or derided for not doing it sooner. When, when, when will *** happen, isn’t it right you should etc, etc. It’s a no-win situation for the Gov’t but a free for all pot-shot by the media. The next big contentious issue will come when a vaccine is sorted out and the BAME population get prioritised over the white population – the fury will come, quite literally, from left, right and centre!!
