I’ve got a couple of License keys from past, no longer existing, computers of mine. They’ve long since been dismantled. Don’t know if that is a kosher approach, or even if it would work. If it is/does PM me for the key codes.

I have always used the brightest bulbs at the top of the Lumen range for ( mostly ) down-lighters. That has put me at the ‘cutting edge of what’s available. Listening to Steve I started about 6 years ago, but over the years have upgraded the initial 3.5w 350 lumen to the 6w 550 lumen bulbs. LED Hut were exemplary for replacing any faulty bulbs, however about 18 months ago they either went into liquidation or re-invented themselves and had some initial problems. Needed you to re-open an account as the previous ones were closed off, but not aware of any problems recently.

I’ve just seen on CNN a report out by the House Committee has been critical of both Boeing and the FAA. it seems collusion between them and cost cutting exercises by Boeing ( plus intentionally downplaying the of the MCAS problem by Boeing and the need for Simulation Training ) are the main reasons for the two crashes.

Interesting to see the path things take from here, whether they stay within the two or spread throughout the industry, as/when/if it restarts. The decision in 2012 by the FAA to hand problems and decisions back to the industry to resolve themselves, instead of being overseen by the regulating authority.

Just did a quick check – 25 seconds to ‘pin page’ and another 25 ( including entering the pin ) to desktop with a full taskbar.

I’ve just gone through the windows version of the above, as the Missus was getting fed up with her laptop ( HP255 G4  AMD A6 6310 4GB ) being a bit slow and randomly switching off. I’ve transformed it for her with an SSD and an extra 4GB memory. I also took the opportunity to install a new DC Jack for her as the original one was intermittent and was switching off overnight.

DC Jack was just over a fiver from Ebay, 4GB memory from Amazon was £18 and the SSD was £28 for a 240GB Kingston. ( Annoyingly I had a spare 120Gb SSD, but despite my best efforts when cloning it with Macrium Reflect, I couldn’t get the partition sizes small enough to fit. )

It now flies ( relatively speaking ) so everything just opens, no dithering or caching!! She’s delighted.

              Good luck with Tamara’s. :good:

Edit – I almost forgot, first thing that I did was to do a W10 reset from settings – it took a while but gave me a clean setup to clone. I also upgraded it to version 2004. ( That seems wrong writing it, but MS’s way of allocating dates seems to make the 2020 version 16 years out of date!! )

If he ever plays poker, he’ll have problems going “All in” – by the sound of things, best part of the original Bob is “All out” these days. Great to hear things are improving, albeit slowly. :yahoo: :good:

Mr Johnson has been a bit busy recently with a new baby and being in hospital with the virus but I’m hoping we have his attention now.

Not if his performance on Wednesday’s PMQ’s is anything to go by!!! You’d think that his experience with the virus would have reminded him of the necessity of getting things like Brexit right first time. We’re not decorating the spare room here, or buying a second hand car!! There will be collateral damage to the country if they get it wrong, not just the cost of a ‘do-over’ or the inconvenience of going to court to recover the cost of a ‘lemon’!!

On your phone, tablet or PC browser???

Usually there’s something at the top right – person’s outline or similar – that you tap or click on.

Log out is an option on a drop down menu.

Don’t know Outlook though, never used it. :good:

Then last night it started working again and today it filled to bursting twice, just been emptied and began filling up again immediately.

It looks like you’ve got the traces of having had ivy growing up there at some stage in the past. That’s a real b*stard thing for causing problems. It displaces anything, fixed or not and is probably what opened the gap in the soffit board.

I’ve got problems with some growing up our garage wall on the neighbour’s side. He’s good these days at keeping it under control mostly, but in the past, when he was working full time, it had penetrated under the roof. Not a problem ordinarily, but it’s a corrugated asbestos/cement roof that is fine for the time being, and not a risk, unless it cracks or breaks – hence the ivy being problematic.

Some soffits used to be made from asbestos ( ours was here ) but yours looks to be more recent with the built in vents. We just went over the top of our old ones with upvc cladding trimmed to fit and held on with Gripfix or similar and tidied with edging trim and joint strips. It’s not been a problem for 9 years or so and wasn’t hugely expensive.

May be worth a look for reference, if not education/instruction.

Even with a brand new “smart” TV it seems separate boxes and remotes are unavoidable.

I think the ‘let down’ of this practise falls to the processing power of smart TV’s.

I have a 3yo Sony smart tv with ( 66Meg fibre ) internet fed to it via a switch. Netflix has its own button on the remote, Prime Video , iPlayer etc, come via apps. Every time you select one of them, there is a waiting process with spinning wheels of doom telling you it’s loading, connecting, etc. It’s a time-consuming frustrating process, compared to the browser experience on my  ( i5 ) PC ( or even my iPad Pro ) – let alone the Sky box experience that seems to be the benchmark for ease of use and smooth transitions from Guide or Planner to watching your choice.

On the browser there are no spinning wheels, no ‘loading’,  just straight into the home menu, click on your choice and straight into the programme, with the option of skipping the re-cap and straight back into watching the programme – all before the TV has finished logging in to your choice of provider.

The whole process needs to be speeded up and simplified, or those boxes under the TV are there to stay for some time yet.

Worst news, he finds it has spread. In which case he takes the bowel to give me time.

The bad news you can manage!! It’s not great, but you’ve coped over the last few years with problems – this is just another on the list. The worse news isn’t as bad as you think, because as you say, it gives you time.

You’ve dealt with a lot over the last few years, at least this will give you a chance , if not in your own time, at least on your terms.

Sorry if this sounds a bit Gung Ho or blase, but I had a glimpse of your situation a few years ago and knowledge is power – what you do with it is under your control – not a lot else is.

Good luck and God bless – that may not inspire your faith, but it can help others to cope.

You’re not alone with that, Bob. I have a friend with similar troubles to yourself. He went in yesterday at 11.15, at 13.15 there was no sign of the consultant, and they couldn’t find a rectal catheter in the hospital…………….. but they had taken his blood pressure. It’s a damn good job they never took the BP of his wife sitting in the car park, sweating cobs!! Finally by 16.15 they’d sorted it all out and he came out and back to us. ( We look after his dog while they’re at the hospital, purely because they never know quite how long they’re likely to be!!)
