There’s a bit of Spitting Image’ary on this subject HERE on YouTube. Kept me chuckling !! I’m just off to check out some other offerings.

I saw they were back on BritBox, but cba to subscribe for limited content.

It certainly is good riddance, albeit about 8 months too late!! He should have gone for his earlier transgressions, not some supposed name-calling of Boris’s Baby Mama, but, whatever works!!

It was absolutely fitting that someone who looked like the No 10 window cleaner and so obviously enjoyed the associated glare of publicity by using the high profile entrance to No 10, should depart the same way!!

Cheers, Dave – it’s good news that Bob is still with us, less than good that he’s still in hospital and suffering there!! As an elderly friend that I knew 20+ years ago used to say, ” Considering the alternative, I’m doing fine!!”

Send him our thoughts and best wishes. 👍👍

I’ve just checked my Moto G5, 2 years with me ( plus a bit with PM’s Mum ) and it’s now on 8.1. This will only affect anything on 7.1 or less, so anything over 3 – 3 1/2 years old. That’s not bad, really. I tend now to upgrade my phone every 2 -3 years ( my Nokia 7110 lasted about 5 years until the sliding keyboard refused to slide!! ) but this one doesn’t break a sweat for my needs, Speed Camera App, Sat Nav, camera, basic browsing on the move etc.

What’s the point of a 128gb SSD you would end up installing most games on the 1tb as its just not big enough?

The speed and usability difference Dave refers to is like between dial-up modems and ADSL ( or a speed upgrade from 1.5Meg to 20Meg ) where you opened a web-page or programme up, went and made a cuppa and came back to a new screen.

It’s like adding jet fuel or nitrous oxide to your car. It’s still the same car and the same engine it just makes everything you do with your right foot ( mouse hand ) that much quicker. The difference is you’ll travel so much faster – and you won’t end up blowing your engine up if you use it too much – which you will. :yahoo:

I added an SSD to my main PC (i5 4th gen ) a good while back and it was the best thing I did. I’ve done the same thing to laptops where they were getting slow and a £30 expenditure, or £50 because I upped the ram too, has meant I didn’t have to spend a couple of hundred to buy a new laptop for the wife.

Well, Biden it is now. ( Caveat – legal shenanigans aside!! )

It’ll be an interesting transition period – it’s a given Trump won’t behave himself, however much the GOP grandees instruct him. It will now be a personal battle of will between the eager incoming and the reluctant outgoing. As the saying goes, interesting times ahead!!! :yahoo:

I really don’t see why the people of this country are still so interested in the US elections. In the immediate post war years we were hugely reliant on the US of A but now we are not. About the only thing we depend on now is their involvement with NATO and if the EU get their way it won’t exist for much longer anyway. When was the last time you brought something with made in the USA stamped on it ? About the only things we export to the US are luxury cars and other things with a high “Britishness” value and they will keep buying those things whatever happens. The so called richest country in the world is actually the one with the most massive debt and the interest on that is rising by the second. After a few more years of Democrat spending I can’t see them ever paying that back. So whats the big fuss about US elections ?

Graham, from your analysis, you obviously have, like most of us, a world view – what happens over there now will affect that world view in future days/weeks/months/years. Personally, I like to have information about things, without necessarily involving myself in them. “Information is Power” is a much abused statement – that doesn’t mean it’s not true. :good:

It was noticeable that Pence was missing from last night’s tirade. He seemed to be rambling, repeating himself, almost as if his speech writer had re-written the speech four or five times, but hadn’t removed the initial musings.

The Republicans are going to try and re-run the post election votes in Georgia – that’s likely to fail on two counts ( pun intended ) there is no basis to warrant doing it and the numbers will be irrelevant to the final outcome.  Pennsylvania is just going to be strung out over the next few days/weeks because of the intricacies of detailing and identifying/ratifying some of the non-standard voting papers, but again, the numbers don’t indicate an alternative outcome.

Biden is making a speech tonight and if he doesn’t claim victory, he’ll likely tell everyone to stay calm and wait the official outcome. He’s in a good place and could score some serious points with the electorate by preaching common sense instead of rabble-rousing!!

With Trump, I honestly expect a ‘medical’ diagnosis around March – just in time to avoid court appearances for tax or corruption charges.

The Republicans are going to need to re-invent themselves, post-Trump, in the same way that New Labour did in the 90’s/00’s, similar to the way current Labour will need to distance themselves from the Corbyn era.

Any update on the outcome/recovery at all, Dave?? I’ve located him on FB and sent a Friends request, but if you speak/message him first, can you let him know the FB account is in SWMBO’s name. Tell him it’s JCD not some random lonely female down south!! :yahoo:

Well if you like JCD. Thing is though, we are getting far too much tier 3 at the moment, from all directions, much more tier 1 would be nice 😃

From your lips to God’s ear!!

The problem is that to get more tier 1 would require an education system that promoted free thought and clear reasoned thinking, backed up by a solid education, things that have been noticeable by their absence in the world of schools under the last few decades of government. 🙁

Then we get tier 3. This is really just self delusion. Find something you would like to be true and then just convince yourself that it is. You will NOT shift this opinion with facts or logic because it didn’t get there that way.

                                    Trump, anyone??

JB’s answer from 21/10 last year, so judging that it actually is JB’s Birthday, I hope he has a great time.

That’s great that he’s more mobile and doing for himself, and free ( er ) of tubes etc, but just when he’s getting and feeling better, it’ll be time for another op and start the recovery process all over again. That’s a hard cycle to be going through, but he seems in good spirits. Tell him we want a Halloween treat from him, no shocks or tricks!! Wish him well on next contact please Dave, and thanks for keeping us in touch with him.👍

…………………….I’m knackered today so concentration is hard work.

Me too!! Tuesday, yesterday and today I’ve been in the garden sorting out some dilapidated fencing. Luckily a friend replaced a broken panel at her house and decided to fence the whole side of her garden to match the opposite side and rear, which left 7 spare featheredge panels. So we’ve been removing all the old collapsed fencing and the falling apart chicken wire fence, digging out and concreting in 7 posts and fixing the panels, 6 more posts to do along with making up from scratch 5 full featheredge panels.

Came in last night at 5pm, was falling asleep in front of the tele, so went to bed early. Woke up to the alarm at 7am today, feeling rested, but still achy!! I think a long soak is order, probably Saturday after we’ve finished. :good:
