Have you tried all the steps in the link you posted ? You can have more than one pointing device attached and they should all work at once. It does sound like a driver problem if the Synaptics pad dosen’t show up in device manager. By the way how do you know its a Synaptics pad if it doesn’t show up ?
I am a bit naughty becacse I NEVER tell people I have a copy of their details. I always tell them its important for THEM to keep a copy because I won’t be able to help if they lose their details. Then I watch as they scribble them down on a never to be seen again scrap of paper ?
A couple more questions. Is this a touch screen or a touch pad. Does it show up in device manager and have you tried refresh devices if it dosn’t ?
Found the above link for Windows 8. Dont know if it will help.
Well done. On a side note for a few years now I have kept a small note book with other people’s account names and passwords in. When ever I setup someone else’s PC or phone I write down their details. When they come back to me months or years later and say they never had an account/password I at least have the satisfaction of proving they do/did !
Remind me again. What OS is the HP running ? And is that a HID that the USB mouse shows up as ?
Same as you Dan. I honestly can’t remember what may have been wrong with the free version even though I used it for a year (anyone care to remind me ?). The paid for version has been my player of choice for about 5 years now and the latest version is the best yet.
February 21, 2017 at 8:34 pm in reply to: Recycle Bin icons wont change between full and empty #4246I was going to say works fine for me.
Looks like its gone. Link leads to item not found.
I use Poweramp. I liked it so I got the paied for version but the free version is still good.
Very nice and tidy Dave. What sort of HDMI over Ethernet are you using ? I have to ask because I know little and an internet search turns up everything from simple HDMI extenders to full blown video matrix systems and at least one zero client system too. Who knew digital signage could get so complex ?
Yep
If you really did want to give it a go then the theory is quite simple but I would not try it on a live system.
First you would install your older OS. As you already have W7 installed next I would check the partitioning to see if you have a system reserved partition. If you don’t I would give up but if you do then next you need to shrink the Windows partition to make FREE space for W10.
Start the W10 installation and when it asks choose install into free space. The W10 installer should take it from there and set up a multi boot system.
Thats it all done all woking fine ( Good luck  )
As dave said don’t do it.
But to answer your question if you DID do it and get it working (big if) you would not have to press an F key. At start up Windows boot manager would give you a list of installed OS’s to choose from.
Anyone ever hear the term best practice review ? It makes me shudder.
Seeing as its W10 you may like to try an upgrade repair. Look at this linkHow to: perform a repair upgrade using the Windows 10 ISO file – Microsoft Community
Oops looks like our posts crossed in the post. So its W10 then.
Hmm
Seeing as Skype won’t work either im still leaning towards an SSL (secure sockets layer) problem. Looks like when a program tries to open a secure channel it can’t because of a Windows problem. ntasn1.dll is part of Windows internal error handling system amongst other things.
Its a shame that SFC (system file scan) didn’t complete first time and it may be worth running it again but if it still fails please let me know what version of windows your running.
Your quite right Dave
There is a load of rubbish about this on the internet and lots of it is on the Microsoft forums like technet !
I picked the answer I did because it sounds plausable and others were having the same problem with Live Mail too which SFC fixed for them.
Speaking of logs your right again.
I always look at obvious one’s when i’m stumped. I almost never get much out of Windows system logs though. It could be because I was spoilt at my last company who paid for a log search filter program that I could point at any log dump and get what I wanted. I Still have a look anyway though.
