Well first i phoned the argos helpline and the nice lady told me i was very bad for not taking out extended cover but she would see what she could do. When she came back to me she said her manager told her that as the tv was 2 years old i would have to go through the whole fit for purpose thing. She also reminded me they had the option to attempt at least 1 repair if it was faulty.

This is the whole thing i had last time and it was a pain in the ass.

Anyway now i know i dont have a REAL Hitachi i dont really want it.

On a side note, once i had the set apart i noticed that it had beed fixed at least once before i got it because 2 of the voltage regulaters had been replaced with different ones and they had thermal grease ouseing from their heat sinks.

I agree with you both in theory and i knew that but in practice its a non starter.

I have been down that road before with Argos and got my money back after a year of hastle and i goes like this.

I say my item is broken.

They say it is over 6 months old.

I say it was not fit for purpose

        They say prove it !

Then we go through the rounds of Engineers reports and sending the item here and there before i finally win and get my money back plus the postage i paied out in advance.

The TV was only £270 and it is a big thing to post so really it just aint worth it. The thing could break again in 2 weeks and it would all start again !

That about covers it then ?

I still think it would have been wise to get the new planes into service before we retired the old ones though.

I have found in the past that its usualy best to format cards in the card reader rather than the device assuming that your device will then recognise the card !

I have also had trouble with ExFat formated cards. Seems it may not be as universal as it should be.

What exactly was wrong with the old Harrier apart from not being super sonic ?

Did you hear the CCleaner update site got hacked or redirected ?

Anyone who did an update in the few hours before it was spotted got a very nasty surprise.

Think i understand a bit more about the phantom copy of the rocky horror picture show that appeared on my data disc after my last update.

I think there was an ISO copy on the drive that I had forgoten about. All that is new is that it now has a drive letter.

Also I had upgraded my copy of Power DVD player just before the OS update so that may have something to do with it too.

I had not heard of 2-Power batteries either but I have looked into it and the plot thickins…

Looks like 2-power is large independant manufacturer of compatible batteries and chargers amongst other things. They supply well known retailers like Currys and they claim their products are equal  to or better than the origanals with at least a 1 year warranty.

The other thing is they also supply the company trading as Duracell direct which is not actually Duracell but a company paying to use their name !

Anyway they seem to have good reviews so good luck ?

                          Yep reviews are the key

Price is no real guide although a really cheap battery is probably rubish. Buying a branded battery from an unknown supplier is no help either because of the number of fakes.

Buying an original battery direct from the manufacturer is mostly safe but they will charge you an arm and a leg and it may still have been sitting on a shelf for years.

I tend to buy branded batteries from the likes of Maxell or duracell from well known suppliers but I still get caught out.

                          Again. Reviews are the key

I had a rear hub fail once on the way back from a long ride. The first i knew about it was when i heard a ticking from the back of the bike. When i stopped i found the derailleur was now hitting the spokes for some reason. I could not work out why so i just adjusted the derailleur out a bit, loosing first gear but letting me carry on. About 5 miles from home the ticking started again so i did the same thing again loosing second gear this time.

The rear hub i was using was a cheap one that came with the bike and when i got home i found the weld attatching the flange the spokes connect to had completly failed on the block side. The wheel was wobbling about and i was lucky to get home without accident.

Just noticed that my hobby PC with a dedicated RX 480 graphics card DOES have the extra GPU preformance monitor. My everyday PC with built in intel graphics still does not.

                                  Here is an odd one.

When I updated my hobby PC I accidently left a DVD in the drive. During the update I noticed the light on the drive flashing away for about 5 minutes while progress stuck at 82%. Now the update is finished I find I have a copy of the rocky horror picture show on my data disc with its own drive letter. Now that was NOT there before !

Update installed and working fine. All existing programs are present and correct. Even word 2000 is still working fine.

The GPU performance monitor that was promised in the preview seems to be missing though.

Looks like what I am after then but I am a bit concerned about the build quality remarks because my S5 had to be replaced twice due to defects.

Have decided to let my contract run to its end in mid december. Will let you pepole know if I get the A5 ?

My contract is up soon and O2 has offered me a samsung A5 at the same price I am currently paying for my S5 Neo if I sign up for another 2 years.

Anyone know if the A5 is any good ?
