I spent 6 years walking around the west end of London in the nineties when I was a service engineer for Mercury Communications. We only covered the W1 post code so the four of us had a small base in Poland St and traveled everywhere by bus, tube or foot.

I was only stopped by the cops once in that time and it was to ask if I had seen someone in a photo they showed me. They already knew who I was !

Just for completeness most if not all of the Sysinternals utilities now work with  the /AcceptEula command line switch.

The first time I looked at ray tracing it was on an Atari ST with POV software.

A single scene at 320×200 in 16 colours with 2 lights took 18 hours to render.

Have things improved since then then ?

I just remembered I was thinking of GPUopen by AMD and it will not help create 3D models. It may help render them though.

That is interesting and I may look into it if I ever master getting the things I want on screen in 2D ?

I think AMD are working on some kind of open 3D framework too.

That fault really had me going because the PC would run Windows for days and Prime 95 for hours without a hitch but within 10 min of starting a graphics heavy app it would just go black.

I had changed the PSU and graph card and was taking the CPU out so I could send the Mobo back when I suddenly thought a CPU reseat couldn’t hurt.

                Bingo ! No more fault.

Yep sounds about right at this point. The only other thing to try would be reseating the CPU but as you will be doing that anyway with the new and better mobo it hardly seems worth the bother ?

I once had the same on a new build PC but it started on the 4th day just after i instaled Photo shop so i blamed that.

Felt such a fool after I sent Photo shop back and it happened again when I installed my first game. Doh !

I think I should mention Bluetooth audio profiles here too.

If you want the best audio then both devices should support Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).

If you want remote control then AVRCP is the one to have.

If neither of these are mentioned then the devices will fall back to the older headset profile which is a bit rubbish ?

Even with the slightly dodgy 4G reception where I live I still get 31Mb down and 18Mb up with 02.

Just to be clear, does it crash with a blue screen error or does it just switch off ?

Here is a bit of a fork but I think it fits in with AI.

I once read somewhere or saw it somewhere that one definition of life is ” An enttity that performs at least one purely selfish action”.

That would cover all things we reguard as living but rule out all current machines because they do as the are told.

There is a school of thought that says all learning is based on desire so as long as we are still in charge of setting the desired resault we should be safe to let AI figure out the best way to get there.
