My link is also a bit out of date it seems as MS has moved things around (as is their want) but the general idea is the same.

Directory junctions are mostly kept around for compatability reasons. Since symbolic (soft) links were introduced in windows Vista they can do what a junction did and more with the /d switch, including linking to a remote directory on an SMB server.

A framework for apps and drivers I should have said. Pre boot apps are unloaded when UEFI passes control to an OS but drivers remain and are available to the OS through UEFI function calls. This is a good way of finally getting rid of option ROMs on expansion cards amongst other things as an OEM can supply a UEFI driver that gets installed in the EFI partition on your boot drive. UEFI even supplies its own command shell to enable such things to be done manually, pre boot.

The above link may help. Not sure what you mean by user folder though ?

            http://www.uefi.org/specsandtesttools

Have a look at the above link and the links it leads to. This is the least complicated info I can find that still goes into some depth. UEFI is a lot like a framework for EFI apps and most of the parts are optional. Secure boot is optional and even a GUI interface is not actually required. A UEFI BIOS must impliment the entire framework though before it can add any EFI modules such as a GPT boot loader.

You may also notice that the working group now controls the ACPI spec too.

My CM690MK ll has one of those docking stations on top, it is connected to a standard SATA port on my MoBo and a spare SATA power connector. As long as the port is set to AHCI and not IDE then it is hot swapable and I have used it that way.

A standard eSATA port will not supply any power so you will need a powered enclosure for your drive. There is a version called eSATAp that does supply power but it uses different cables and sockets. To be honest I would avoid both in favour of USB 3.

On a side note Gigabyte threw everything but the kitchen sink at my MoBo as it has 10xSATA2, 2xSATA3, 1xeSATA, 1xFireWire, 1xIDE and a Floppy connector! Should be enough drives to be getting on with ?

I quite often read Byte starting in 1978 but my subscription was to Micro Computer Print Out ( later Printout !) Magazine. A review in 1980 convinced me to go for an Atari 400 with a massive 48k of ram soldered in. Seeing as I had a 1K ZX80 at the time, 48K seemed inexhaustible !

And that is his appeal. He may well joke his way into power but if he gets it he WILL do what he says he wants to do. Same as me, really really really get out. Sort the DETAILS later.

Really Ed ? I think BoJo is a bit of a duffer myself but he still managed to get himself elected as a conservative major in a massively labour London.

Amazing how difficult these things are to actually print. Birthday cards are another one.

                                  • Yep the EU guide to negotiations are just a guide. As usual with them though they are set in stone.
                                  • And yes I do see a reason why we do NOT  want a franco german alliance deciding our future.

More Europe is very much like the French idea of spending their way out of dept. Just digging a bigger hole.

                                        Hi Duke

More integration means we get to be told what we can and cant do by the French and Germans. We also get a massive bill for their best interests.

They state that that no deal can be done until we have actually left.

Even article 50 its self predicts a period of WTO rules until a new deal can be done.
