I already posted the facts about what the EU commission thinks it is from their own website Ed.

I see the latest summit went as expected.

No I thought it was something about the pound being so dodgy at the time that the government guaranteed sterling on the foreign exchange markets but didnt do the same for the cash in your pocket. A lot of fuss was made at the time about having pounds sterling. Was there any other kind ?

Should be careful of the results a Google search returns too.

I once searched for Radeon HD5770 and thought I found one that was £5 cheaper than elsewhere. The trouble is that it was an HD5750 ! I didnt double check because I searched HD5770 and the price was about right.

By the way both cards are up for sale at a low price if anyone want’s to make me an offer ?

I may be mis remembering this but wasn’t sterling decoupled from the pound in your pocket at one point during the 1970s ?

Anyone remember the ERM ? The speculators had a field day with that one. Another attempt to link sterling to Europe that saw the pound fall through the floor. Mr G Brown spent Billions in public money trying to prop up his Euro dream and the speculators kept taking it until he ran out of cash.

It makes you wonder what there is left of a “Company” these days. If the actual work is subbed out and the management direction is decided by consultants then you end up with little more than a brand name. There will still be a CEO but by their own admission they don’t think they need to know anything about a company in order to run it.

And if our chancellor thinks the same then it is a very good reason for him to keep his gob shut ! He really is willing to undermine our position just to keep his EU dream alive.

Oop he’s at it again, head for the shelters, the sky is about to fall again (Cant’t be much of it left by now though). In a triumph of Ideological self-placement  Philip Hammond has lept on the latest IMF predictions of doom. When was the last time he did that ? Oh yes, every time. Can anyone remember the last time they were right about our economy ?

The thing is Ed, people have to go out of their way to buy the paper of their choice. We are forced to pay a ring fenced TV tax for the BBC and I do NOT agree with their views.

Well like you say VFM, the Euro sceptic Tories had been suppressed. The only view on offer would have been the Government line. We would have got the same leaflet we got this time too. Remember there was no internet so the treaty would have gone largely unread by the voting public. People trusted the BBC for their neutrality more back then and we all know their opinion on the subject. We had also not yet seen the true extent of the EU’s ambitions.

I think I can be pretty sure what the result of a vote would have been. So thank you Mr Major. You bungled us out.

Well actually VFM i’m rather glad that Major didn’t call for a vote back then. You see we would have been told that  it was just another minor tweek to the treaty and that this vote thing was just a legal formality. The nation would have fallen for it too. Voting in then would have denied us the vote we just had.

You picked some right places to visit there Richard !

Watford is about the best but its actually in Hertfordshire. Edgeware wasnt bad then but its gone much the same as Wembley central now.

I don’t mind the odd spit and sawdust pub but the Vauxhall Tavern was too rough for me even during the day !

I was mostly talking about Sudbury and Wembley rather than the Stadium Richard. Have a look above.

Your council could always follow the lead of mine Dave, if they want more government money. Brent council thought they had this trick down to a fine art after 60 years of practice.

What you do is just waste your money so that it runs out 1 month before the end of the financial period. What you must avoid at all costs though is  making anything better. Now you can go to the government next time and say “We are still skint, we are still c**p, give us more cash”

Brent came unstuck a couple of years ago though. Because of the regeneration around Wembley stadium there was going to be too much money coming in. Que a huge public works splurge. They actually resurfaced all the roads around my Mum’s again after only 4 years. It took 30 years to get it fixed the first time !
