I suspect that your clone is fine because it DOESN’T have a drive letter. By default Windows will only mount one internal drive that is marked as active so if you now have a second one it won’t get mounted.
Try booting with your original HD disconnected and see what happens. Cant hurt ?
You know how to do that yes ?
Glad to be of use ?
Today I would just copy a load of stuff off the HD and decompress it but what would I copy it to back then ? The other thing was a fair amount of my software was “Ahem” borrowed so I couldnt just delete it either because I didnt have the disks. I didnt finally solve the problem until I could afford a second hard drive. A massive 320MB for £275 if I remember correctly ?
So did I but they still had to include the Double Space driver or the HD was a no show ?
Ah yes free base memory, sore point.
I was chronically short on disk space so I enabled Microsoft Double Space on my drive and used it for a couple of weeks before trying to play a game.
That was when I found out that Double Space installed a driver that ate up a chunk of base memory and that it had to be loaded to access the disk. I could not free up enough base memory to play Doom any more and by then there was not enough free space on the disk to decompress it either !
Top news Bob ?
Do you want to actually move any files or just have them appear under My Pictures ?
I would like to just stick to EU bashing if you dont mind Duke.
And another thing. You cant have a second “peoples vote” on an issue until you have done what they told you to do in the first one. They asked us and we TOLD them.
This is NOT what the majority voted for no. We voted to get OUT. I only saw in or out on the ballot paper, shake it all about was not listed.
Its not a ploy though Ed. I voted out because I want OUT. The dealing comes after we leave, as the EU have always said (Quote their guidelines for negotiations which they have not varied from). We should have been doing the ground work for this instead of trying to get the EU to change its constitution and allow us super special membership.
Oh dear, I share your pain, horrid ?
My sister brought a PC without advice from me and has got one of those little beasties. Its really a pretty poor laptop CPU but soldered into a sort of desktop MoBo.
I thought I could at least give her a bit of a graphics boost because the board has a PCIe x16 slot and I have an HD5770 card spare, but no. The MoBo takes laptop style power from an external power brick and the only spare power connector is a single SATA.
Slow is the word here but it WILL play video, mostly.
Pitty, the EU also have a sale on though.
One mud coloured Donkey for rent. Contract period unknown, deposit only £39 billion. Answers to the name of Brexit deal ?
I see Smyths have rainbow coloured unicorns on sale for a very reasonable price. It certainly aint £39 billion ???
And more about London travel…
If you have the odd appointment in London then calculate your journey time and then add 2 hours, even if it means getting up at a silly hour in the morning. If you happen to get there early there’s plenty to do while you wait and you should not have been stressed out wondering if you would get there on time.
On the other hand if you work in London you have to work out just how much of your own time you are willing to spend on getting to work on time every day. I settled on an hour and a half for what should be an hours journey (9 miles by the way).
Made me sick ?
As its the built in memory checker I assume it knows this but make sure the cache is disabled or you are just testing your CPU cache. I made that mistake with memtest 86 last year.
I do not trust MoBo manufacturers driver disks at the best of times. My usual tactic is to build a system and then do the following:
See if I can install Windows on it (even if I plan to use something else later). If that works and I can get on the internet I then run Windows update. If device manager is still showing problem devices then I go to the manufacturers web sites for the latest drivers. Then I update drivers for working devices starting with the graphics card.
Only if the above fails at stage one will I insert the MoBo disk.
If I am keeping the Windows instal I will have a look at the MoBo disk later because sometimes they surprise me by sticking some usefull stuff on there.
I dont think its fair that you can still effectivley die in DOOM 3 with all the console cheats switched on ???
Get knocked into a pool of lava ? Pah !
