      Yes and no.

It is easier to get your way if you have a pot of cash. But our masters/betters slipped up by giving us a “people’s vote”

Now they MUST do as they are told.

The snide forces that be will try anything to stop Boris. He dont fit in with their easy life plan. They STILL dont get that their easy life has ended.

This is way off topic and i will expand on this later in the right place but I have just finished my first read through of a programming principles and practice book. The book uses C++ as an example language and it is written by the man who came up with C++ but it is pure good practice for anything.

I can now even design an Atari Basic subroutine that is much like a function !

I nearly went into a bit about the bad habits I learned with Atari Basic but I am going to put that on C++ programming in makers and builder soon.

And I agree with you totally Richard AND Ed.

You really must conform with whatever the school has decided upon. For better or worse you won’t change their minds.

Scratch is a very useful introduction to programming concepts while also having a bit of fun. You will have to learn it all again in a mainstream language later though ?

It was just a thought Bob ?

I still have 11 months to go on my contract phone and I am toying with the idea of getting a nearly new S9 in the mean time.

Again just a thought though ?

If they are not using Windows I would have to ask why not. Its all very well championing open source software in your own time but on a laptop or PC the world uses Windows.

However if they have chosen to use an alternative for some reason then you have no choice but to do the same. At that age I don’t suppose it matters too much but if they later find themselves at a secondary school that does use Windows (more than likely) and with other children that were taught Windows they would be at a massive disadvantage.

There is something to be said for going refurb. You can get a Samsung S7 A1 refurb for £150 or less if you dont mind a strange colour.

You get Android Orio and full access to the play store with updates for at least the next 2 years.

The S7 was built as a flagship and it shows in the quality of the camera and screen amongst other things.

The only sticking point with a refurb could be the battery as its non replaceable.

It is more than an expression of mood it is a threat. The TBP and Nige are going nowhere before October so something had better happen before then. If they make the mistake of not including Boris in their final two selection then its curtains.

Back in 2004 I had no phone line at my new flat for 6 months. I had a Pentium 3 PC back then and a Motorola V series phone on O2.

To get on the internet I brought a bluetooth dongle for the PC and used it to tether the phone.

Considering it was only 2.5G it worked really well but it got expensive because I only had 20Mb of data a month for free.

Yes Ed and I understand the BBC’s point of view.

If you discount all the votes for Lab/Con as misguided party loyalty and then count all the rest as a vote to remain then they just about beat the brexit party ?

Of course the astounding number of Brexit party MEP’s being elected means that the country is firmly in favour of remaining in th EU.

At least that’s what the BBC’s commentator’s seem to believe ???

Its a little publicised fact that PCIe was actually designed with device interconnect in mind, especially connecting nodes in a multi CPU cluster.

The maximum cable length for gen 1 and 2 is 7m. Don’t know what it is for gen 3 ?

I have a smallish SSD (C:) for Windows and my most used apps, a BluRay drive (D:) and a HDD data drive (E:).

I recently added a larger SSD that I intend to use for Steam games and it got the letter (F:) but so far it only has Doom on it.

Afrer my recent reinstall of W10 Steam refused to accept that there was a copy of Doom on my PC. I thought I would have to endure another 4 hour download but then I noticed my E and F drives had been swapped around. After using disk management to swap things back Steam was happy and all was well.

Not sure it would. If this is one of their major feature updates that actually does a reinstall.

Your Windows drive will always get C and D is strongly preferred for optical drives but anything else is fair game for reassignment during an upgrade install. Especially if you used Disk Management to change the default letters.

You may find the PC doing half the update, restarting, and then not being able to find the USB stick to finish. If it let you try in the first place ?

As it happens I did a clean instal of W10 64bit from a DVD on monday last week. Not sure if I have the latest version but Windows update has only offered me one security patch since then.

We didn’t have a local election in London. Even if we did it wouldn’t matter. I get Labour whatever I vote.
