      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Efficiency_Video_Coding

The above Wiki post tells you more than you probably need to know about H.265 HEVC.

H.265 is capable of higher compression ratios for the same picture quality as H.264 but it is also capable of higher quality at higher bit rates.

The size of your file will depend on what profile and tier/level your encoder is using ?

        +1 on the frame rate

PAL and NTSC are recorded at 25 and 30 fps respectively but they are transmitted at an interlaced FIELD rate of 50 and 60 which is equivalent to a refresh rate.

In practice you will not see an interlaced picture on a flat screen because it will wait until it has recived 2 interlaced frames and then display them twice over 2 fields.

If you want to watch the iPlayer HLG content on a Samsung TV then “fairly recent” means 2017 or newer. The 2016 TV’s had a firmware update to enable HLG playback as promised but they do not support the European DVB standard the BBC is using for transmission. You will know if your TV is not compatible because you will not be able to receive the content ?

            https://www.macworld.com/article/1145224/firewire-usb.html

The above link shows that firewire is faster or much faster than USB 2 depending on whether you have firewire 400 or 800.

Sony likes firewire because it does not require a root hub to act as a bus controller. You can just plug any two firewire devices together and they will be able to transfer files.

Kenable do seem to be a cable manufacturer amongst other things.

Exterior cables get exposed to UV light which breaks down most PVC so they should be made of polythene or black PVC. The carbon black used in colouring black PVC  absorbs the UV light.

You are not allowed to use polythene cable internally because it gives off cyanide gas when it burns so you have to joint it as soon as it enters a building.

Poly cable is more robust than PVC but it is a pain in the a**e to strip ?

Got advance tickets for Dreamland and the beach is on the cards as is fish and chips. We may visit the shell cave but I am travelling with my friend Angela and her 10yo daughter so it depends on her really ?

And finally, they will never agree to drop the backstop because then they would have to do the things they said they would in the main agreement and they never ment for that to happen.

The main body of the WA counts for nothing because the final section dealing with a “possible” backstop means that it would never apply.

They could have prommiced free money for all and a unicorn in every stable and it would have made no difference because it WOULD NEVER APPLY.

The backstop kicks in if the EU does not decide to play nice and agree to a proper agreement within 2 years.

Why would they do that when the backstop gets them everything they want ?

We became a laughing stock when our PM came back from 3 years of “negotiating” with the EU with an EU plan to nobble us for ever more.

They laughed even harder when our PM decided that the biggest commons defeat in history was no reason to ditch the plan.

They almost wet themselves when she brought it back unchanged 2 more times ?

I see that Boris is now starting to put the blame where it belongs with regard to a no deal. The EU said at the start of negotiations that they WOULD NOT discus a trade deal with the UK until we had left the EU and they have been true to their word. They proposed instead that we stay in the customs union, bung them £38bn, keep paying increased subs, loose our voting rights and our right to leave without their say so. Err No.

They now say they will not negotiate further until we tell them what we want. Well we have told them, ditch the backstop (which is not a backstop but EU policy) and we’ll talk.

The response has just been Non. Boris should be shouting even louder that a no deal would be THEIR FAULT.

Interestingly Windows update seems to think I have Office 2007 installed because it keeps sending me updates and bug fixes for it but I really do only have Word 2000 ?

Slide to shut down is a utility program supplied with Windows called SlideToShutdown.exe. If you like you can create a shortcut to it and pin it to your taskbar or you can create a keyboard shortcut for it. On a touch screen device it should run automatically if you long press the power button but you may have to play about with the control panel power settings.

Just discovered the taskbar keyboard icon is a Windows setting. Right click an empty area of the task bar and there is an option to display it.

Those will be utilities rather than drivers. You can probably get similar things from many different sources.

Have you tried downloading the compatabillity pack for MS Word ? Microsoft says it only works on Office 2003 and above but I have installed it on Word 2000 and it lets me work with docx files just fine. I would be interested to find out how far back the support really goes ?
