Oops, I linked into lesson two. You should definitely read lesson one because it deals with local user accounts and Microsoft accounts 😁

Above is the most complete information on Windows Work groups I can find. Ignore anything to do with Home groups though because they are not available on W10, just make sure that any non W10 computers are not in one because it will over ride the Work group settings.

Taking busses out of service to regulate the service really gets me. If a bus catches up with the one in front then it will be because the one in front was delayed. That means there will be lots of delayed people waiting for the first bus so it will be packed. Eventually the first bus becomes so full that it does not stop unless some one has rung to get off. This leaves everyone waiting for the next bus which has now been canceled. Of course the next bus that arrives will be packed and so will take longer at stops so it will be caught up by the bus behind and so on.

You just can’t take a bus out of service to regulate the service !

Just one more more thought 😁

The BIOS uses a similar trick to the legacy keyboard one to make USB sticks bootable. The BIOS makes a USB stick appear to be an ATA drive. Some BIOS’s have seperate settings for legacy keyboard and legacy USB. Are you sure that you are setting legacy KEYBOARD to on ? The setting will not have USB in its name.

Just one more thought. Your system will have more than one USB controller. Have you tried plugging the keyboard into a USB port that is connected to a different controller ?

Yes I know John. Your problem is with USB keyboards and why selecting legacy keyboard support in the BIOS doesn’t fix it is beyond me 🤨

Except, is there a BIOS update you could install ? because making a USB keyboard work with a legacy OS is the job of the BIOS.

It was a a fundimental problem and I don’t think it was actually an error. If the faulty version of Windows didn’t detect ANY legacy devices during an install then it did not install the structure that handles pin signalled interrupts which makes things less complicated for MS. As a PS/2 keyboard is likely to be the only legacy device left on a modern PC thats what happened.

But if you do find yourself with a Windows install that doesn’t have the PS/2 driver installed then the advice seems to be to reinstall Windows because an update won’t fix it 🤔

I just looked it up and you are right ! It was an error MS introduced but they fixed it two builds ago 😀

It is just possible for your laptop chassis to become live. Laptop PSU’s are double insulated these days so they are not connected to earth, the laptop chassis is just connected to the negative output of the PSU. With a switch mode supply (All PC PSU’s are) it is just possible that a fault could cause mains voltage to appear on the negative output but without a return path on the positive output. In that case any metal part of the chassis becomes live and current will flow if you earth it by touching it when you are even a little bit earthed. Don’t try holding on to a water pipe at the same time to prove a point !

The big joke has always been on the blairites of the Labour party. They put Corbin forward as a novelty candidate because they didn’t believe their party was full of mad Marxists any more. Oh how I laughed.

Nasty. But it may not be the cause of the Webcam not working. The kernel mode driver for my Webcam uses Advanced Local Procedure Calls (ALPC) to communicate with its User mode part and if thats not running then the camera just won’t work. The mike works all the time though.

My Logitec Webcam insists that I have their webcam software running as well as the driver before it will work. The software would like to run automatically at start up but I don’t let it 😁

I thought it might be JCD so I was just pointing out the bleeding obvious 😁

And in a year or two after we leave the EU I will welcome your comments Bob. We will be well into the suck it and see period by then and you will be able to say I told you so or not.

I really hope you are around to see it so good health to you 😁

There wouldn’t be an EU boarder with Scotland JCD because the EU has said they are not interested in having an independent Scotland in the EU. More trouble they cold do without.

Speeking of “Off with his head” what’s happening with the scotish court action against Borris ? He more or less sent the letter I dictated for hin earlier and the EU have accepted it, they seem set to respond with the letter I dictated for them too.

It don’t look like we are going to be able to lock Borris up in the clock tower so why hasn’t the case been dropped ?

I really don’t think the FTP act is going anywhere soon.

If the opposition don’t think they can win an election then they think it is in their interest to keep this minority government in place so they can thwart any plans Borris has for business other than Brexit.

I think that will make them unpopular with the public but at least they get to have a say for a few more years.

If Borris does win the next election with a working majority I can’t see him being in any hurry to repeal the FTP act either.

John Bercrow may even do what he said he was going to do and stand down on the 31st so we may get a speaker who stops approving suspect amendments.
