How long does your PC take to boot just Windows Les ? I just upgraded a 2006 laptop with an SSD and it boots to a fully responsive W7 desktop in less than 1 min.
One good thing about W7 being outside main stream support now is that once your installation if fully updated you only get the odd security patch. The bad thing is that extended support ends next year so you won’t get any security patches, unless they extend it again 😁
A mate of mine has that Akai deck and he has been looking for some Akai branded metal spools, none come up on ebay yet.
Right places 🙄
You are correct Bob. The people who remaster this stuff for CD usually have access to the master tapes and all I have is records, but they are MY records with all the pops and scratches in the places 😁
I also record at 48Khz in 24 bit which is super audio CD quality so I can put the records away for good.
For anyone who may like to know, I found out what the UMBus driver is, it is the User mode Bus enumerator. Kernel mode drivers and user mode framework drivers have access to the kernel bus enumerators but pure user mode drivers do not so the UMB kernel driver provides a service that user mode drivers can use to discover devices that are connected to the system.
The only pure user mode drivers that I know of are printer drivers and that seems to be where people have problems. I didn’t have a problem but I had fixed the unknown UMBus device before I installed the printer.
Finally finished updating W7 and everything is working, no exclamation marks or unknown devices showing in Device manager. The final unknown device was UMBus (Whatever that is) and I got the W7 32 bit driver from the HP website.
The original intention was to do an upgrade install to W10 from W7 (can’t be done from Vista) but as the reason for the Windows upgrade was to get a more modern browser installed for secure sites, and W7 let me do that, I am just going to leave things as they are for now.
For playing vinyl I have a Duel CS 505 Mk 2 hooked up to a Pioneer A400. The Amp has a pretty decent MM/MC preamp with proper RIAA equalization and I feed the line output to the line input on my PC. The codec chip on my MoBo is a top of the line Realtec with a very decent S/N ratio.
Recordings are great so it is a pity that my present PC speakers are a bit rubbish 😁
At the moment I send the output to my Cambridge Audio TV sound bar for more serious listening.

Crysis was especially bad for that, I had more or less given up trying to play the game before I found a site that explained the various suits and add on’s you could get.
Yeh I hate that bit. Games used to come with a manual that explained the weapons and armour you could get and what it might be useful for. Now finding that out for yourself is ment to enhance your gaming experience. Well I disagree and I will go online to find that info before I even start playing, or even buy the game in some cases.
Is a pitty they have not updated it since 2016 and a pitty i did not start with it first 🙄
Thnks Dave,I will have a look.

And another 173 updates just arrived. I could be here till Donald trump keeps his gob shut or we finally get Brexit sorted.
It had better be quicker. Not sure I will live that long 😂🤣😂
Even get the NVIDIA control panel app. Seems that all DX10 functions are enabled.
And still updating. 238 updates so far including SP1 and internet explorer 11. My W7 retail disk was from 2010 🤨
Well we are out of the stone age and into the bronze age now 😀
W7 64 bit got much further on from DVD but then failed with a hardware incompatibility at the last minute.
W7 32 bit is now installed and updating. The NVIDIA WDDM driver is part of Windows update and seems to be working well 😁
What sums that link up best is Independent.co.uk 🤮
