It really depends on how good the ADC in your turntable is and if it does proper RIAA equalization. All records are cut with RIAA to reduce the maximum groove deflection, if you play them back without it then you loose the bass.

My GPU fans are under software control from somewhere, when the system boots they run at full speed until Windows loads and then at a speed dependant on the temperature.

Have you got a PWR fan header on your MoBo ? Its ment for cooling the VRM’s. I never have a problem with my VRM temp so I have mine set to constant speed and it drives the fan in the roof of my case because its the only header the short fan lead will reach. I ment to get a lead extension at some point but its been like that for 8 years now 😁

Above is all the help Intel will provide to BIOS writers these days, there is no reference BIOS anymore.

Reading recent data sheets from Intel I am beginning to suspect that they no longer know HOW to write a modern BIOS for their latest CPU’s and chipsets. They seem to have abdicated 😂

Not that surprised.  A few years ago Intel decided that it was not, in fact, a motherboard company after all and it would rather forget that it was once the major player. No MoBo so no BIOS support required, right ?

Are you sure you were using Notepad and not Wordpad ? Notepad defaults to saving .txt files but Wordpad will use a rich text format.

Not so much the young as the imported Ed. Even though Uxbridge is close to heathrow it had resisted the settlement of immigrants until about 10 years ago. Not now though.

Remember I have lived in Wembley or Harrow for the best part of 50 years and seen it all before. The immigrants ALL vote Labour until they gain a few bob and move to somewhere posher.

I would be interested to know if that made any difference to your benchmark’s Keith 🤔

You COULD try installing a custom ROM Les. You will need a ROM that matches your device’s make and model exactly so find that and then search for Android custom ROM. Do that before going any further or you will be wasting your time 😁

Going off topic a bit more (sorry)

I think I found why an SATA device will work for TV recording/playback but a USB flash drive won’t.

The ATA 8 command set has a Set_Stream command that a host can use to request a stream of a certain bit rate from a device, if the command succeeds then the host can just assume it will get that stream without further checking, up to 8 streams can be requested.

No such facility is avaliable on a flash drive so the host must take care of buffering and such like its self. I don’t think TV’s can be bothered 😁

Can you not plug in a hard drive to get live pause Dave ? I tried a flash drive but my TV insists it MUST be an SATA drive like it says in the manual.

One small reason I went for a Samsung was that casting was garunteed to work with my Samsung phone. And it does 😁

I would not mind my viewing habits being collected, it would PROVE that I can no longer stomach the BBC and no longer watch it. Maybe an end to me paying for a service I don’t use.

We could also get rid of the Broadcasters Audience Research Board who compile the viewing figures. Apparently they collect figures from 12200 people in 5100 households. Who are these people ? Do you know any of them ?

My case has fan mounts galore, 2 in the back, 3 in the roof, 2 in the front, 1 in the floor, 2 on the left side and 1 on the right BUT I only fit 3 fans. I have tried fitting more but it never seems to make any difference.

If you wan’t to stop mobile data use John, can you set the data limit to zero ? If I set the limit to zero on my S7 it gives a warning but then turns off mobile data, I have to go back into setting and set a new limit to turn it on again.

                                          Oh I see

You can’t use quick update they talk about but you may be able to save some time.

If you are doing an upgrade install then you can mount the ISO in file explorer and just run setup from there. No need for a DVD or USB stick 😁

I still don’t quit get it Boris

If you have the latest ISO and try to install it over an older version it will offer you the chance to keep apps and settings, you then just get an upgrade install to the latest version with everything intact.

Sorry if that is not what you want.
