Samsung devices normally get 2 Android updates but you may only notice 1. Devices usually get 1 update while they are still current and 1 more once they are superceeded so you may buy a new device that has already had 1 update.

If you want a really good speaker cable then you can’t beat the QED 79 strand above. Not because it is oxygen free or anything but because it is robust, flexable and a good conductor. Beats the rigid monster cable any day.

That is a bit of a nonsense  that keeps getting spread Kieth. Use hard gold plated contacts if you can and also a good quality contact cleaner if things get dirty. Apart from that a conductor is a conductor 😁

Oops forgot to mention the 4th setting. It is important that your turntable is level.

Oh yes, to set the tracking weight you set the small weight to zero, screw the big weight until the arm ballances and then dial in the number of grams you want.

There are 3 important settings on a turntable, tracking weight, antiskate and azimuth. Tracking weight im sure you can guess and you get the figure from the cartridge manufacturer. Skate is a tendency for the record grove to pull the arm towards the center of the  the record, antiskate corrects it. Azimuth is the angle you mount the cartridge in the head shell, you would need a protector to measure that. Audio technica sell a good cheap one 😁

The last time I remember the EU mentioning that we might owe them something is when we first voted to leave, it is a tactic they have used on other nations who voted to leave, then they looked into it and it has been stoney silence ever since.

We don’t Have any debts to the EU Dave, just a few commitments that we will continue with anyway. The matter has been thoroughly investigated and if anything they owe US a share of joint assets. When was the last time you heard the EU say we might owe them anything ?

Anyway it IS the deal the EU say they can live with so any bits that have not been changed by negotiation will just keep rolling over, can’t see why not. But no NEW dictates, no more of the MORE europe, we get to keep the status quo like the remainers say they want

I must admit I have not read Borris’s new deal, I just read the bit that said the backstop was gone, but I am lead to believe that it is the same as Mrs May’s deal.

Assuming we do get an exit bill passed Ed then we ARE going to have to NEGOTIATE with the EU, this is somewhat different to following their dictates.

The process may well take years but I don’t see any need to wrap everything up in one big deal. A series of mini deals would be much easier to agree and it can be done that way because we WILL just continue as we are until we get some new deals.

And of course you don’t have to register to vote if you are a student in Plymouth, or even be 18 on the day of the vote it would seem.

Same as BL. I am 52 and just one person in my year went on to university, his parents were both teachers. At NO TIME have I come close to being able to buy my own home, 3 times my salary has alway equalled one third of a shoe box even though it has been above the NATIONAL average since I was 24.

I was just reading the Audacity online manual (only just found out there was one) and it says there is a special case for connecting your turntable to the Mic input.

78’s and other records recorded before the late 50’s do not use RIAA equalization so you do not want it in your playback system.

It would be nice to get rid of the buzz in the first place but I doubt you can do it because I will bet your USB turntable is not connected to earth in any way. In my setup the analogue turntable is connected to the earth post on the Amp and the Amp is earthed through the 3 pin plug, that avoids an earth loop problem. The PC and the Amp are both plugged into the same power strip so they share a common earth but you don’t usually get a buzz on line level inputs anyway.

I just noticed that Audacity has an RIAA filter preset and there is a VST plug in too. May be worth a look 😁

You can hear the effect by connecting an analogue turntable to the Mic input on your PC. The sound will be plenty loud enough but very “thin”.
