Should have said numbers that are unique in their row, column and 3×3 square.

          At last !

Finally found the bug in my program that was causing odd results.

I have a variable that counts the rows in a 3×3 square called SQROW but in one of the loops I spelt it SQRUW. As Atari BASIC takes notice of all the letters in a variable name SQRUW became a new variable with a default value of zero every time the program was run 🙄

The program only checks through all the rows repeatedly to find numbers that are unique in their row and in their 3×3 square so far.

To my surprise it has solved all the “Sun teaser” puzzles I have thrown at it 😀

I will post the code when I have tidied it up.

I have had bad tracking cause heavy steering, pulling to the side and odd tire wear but, as yet, not a vibrating gear stick. I did have a worn CV joint cause vibration but it also caused a loud knocking when I turned a corner 🤔

This morning Windows told me that insider build 19041.21 was ready for my machine but when I tried to install it it said I had incompatible hardware “Standard duel channel IDE/ATA controller”. Not very helpful as my motherboard has controllers from Intel, Marvel, Jmicron and Gigabyte. Anyway it turned out to be the Jmicron eSATA controller that Windows didn’t like and as I don’t use eSATA I just disabled it in the BIOS and all was fine.

Took about 15min to install with 3 restarts. Haven’t had much time to play with it yet but the first thing I noticed was that the taskbar has changed from black to white, that will have to go 😁

The MMC gives you a nice little certs installation wizard that is worth a look on its own 😁

I ignored the context menu and loaded the .stl file from the management console snap in but, like I said, if you view the newly loaded list from the management consoles certificates list it says that the new list has an invalid cert its self and is not in use.

I tried this on my own PC which is working fine and the same thing happens. Nothing broke so you can give it a go yourself if you like 😉

I just had a go at the quick method in the middle of your link Ed.

I followed the link the to get the latest root cert trusted list in cab format from Windows update. The link says you can unpack the cab file in file explorer to get the .stl file, and you can, and it then says you can right click the file to import it from its context menu but you can’t because W10 thinks a .stl file is a 3D object so it tries and fails to open it in its funky new 3D object app.

Anyway you can import it from the MMC certs snap in, and it will work, but if you do you will find that the file’s certificate is invalid and it is not in use !

                    Ho Hum 🙄

The answer may well be in certutil.exe somewhere but I was hopeing to avoid it. It is easy enough to get a list of all the installed certs and the authorised root cert providers using an MMC snap in, but getting a new list, in an approved and certified format, and then getting it installed is something else. The recommended method for stand alone PC’s is to let Windows update do it but for those who administer domain servers there is a long and complicated process that lets you do it manually using certutil.exe

I was thinking certificate problems  from the start, because Transport Layer Security relies on them, and my workaround seems to prove it.

I installed Firefox because it has its own secure certificate list instead of using the one built into Windows networking and it works just fine.

The trouble is my mum’s friend would rather use Chrome and that uses Windows own database so I really need to find out what’s wrong with that.

All the info I can find says that the certs database is kept up to date automatically via Windows update so they suggest that I check that that is working, I have and it is so now I’m stuck again.

Yes JayCee, I was not only joking I was taking the p**s 😁.

Labour really ARE going to elect a JC clone, can’t see any way round it.

Even if a moderate got the block votes of all the Unions (Not going to happen) it wouldn’t be enough to outnumber all their new Marxist members.

I was only 8 years old in 1975 but I remember being terrified that we might  be leaving Europe. All the TV coverage and my teachers had made it seem that we were somehow going to build a wall in the English channel. My Dad reassured me that it was only a trade agreement we were voting on and, although he was going to vote for it, it wouldn’t be the end of our relationship with Europe if we voted against it.

What he didn’t know at the time was that he was actually voting to join the EU super state.

According to recent reports, a really good defence against the virus is to cut the bottom off a water cooler bottle and then stick it over your head.

Don’t know if it works but the photos show you will look like a prat 😂

Now that Brexit will be enacted tonight, how about a new thread that just lets us rave about anything else ?

I am quite happy to debate on left wing or right wing so why not ?

Oh come on Ed, moderate leader of the current Labour party ?

You may think that Boris is only slightly less right wing than gengis kahn but look at what labour are proposing.

JC was not wrong and what we REALLY need is more Marxism.

                                  Sorry but NO.

There was an hour long program on telly 2 nights ago about vaccines that used bacteria to use the viruses RNA to duplicate their DNA into killer T6 cells, the T cells then recognise the virus and kill it.

The main program was about gene therapy because custom T cells were being used to cut DNA at a defective point so that new DNA could be inserted.

Cycle cell anaemia is the first disease they are testing it on.

Seeing as this appears to be a specific type of virus, is there going to be a vaccine against it soon ?
