They used to sell proper German ones at Tesco, but they changed the importer and they were rubbish.
Lidl normally have good German foods, and their Gluwine worth getting at Christmas. Amazingly their malt scotch was rated the best of all the supermarkets in blind tasting tests.
The subject of drugs is an emotional one, but where marijuana has been legalised drug crime has reduced. Where personal drug use has been decriminalised and supervision of its use has been instituted it has reduced even more. The list of countries that do this is growing. Uruguay decriminalised drug use forty years ago and established legalised sales of marijuana three years ago.
The Policemen I talk to state that the ‘Drug War’ can never be won, and a new radical approach is required.
Conditional to UK Citizenship, incoming migrants would also need to understand that they are welcome here so long as they continue to be law-abiding citizens
This is a bit of a necro thread, but that sanction has existed since 2002! The problem is repatriate them to where? Many destroy their documentation before appearing in the UK, and it then becomes difficult to repatriate them as their likely origin disowns them.
The big question I have to ask re EdPs comment above – how do you know the person has MH issues?
Almost entirely from the person reporting the incident. Sadly, I’m told that many of the incidents are due to elderly people with the paranoid form of dementia waving things such as kitchen knives, or people with suicidal tendencies. Those reporting such incidents are almost entirely carers/neighbours. I do not have any stats on the frequency of such incidents but I guess it must be a large enough number to justify such a team – I also guess the Police Commissar likes it because it looks good in the reports to the Home Office.
I should point out that the area has only one team in one car covering a population of around one million. Due to resource limits the team only covers one shift so it is actually a bit of a lottery whether they attend an incident.
A couple of years ago I badly pinched my finger trying to close an old garden umbrella. Other than it being painful I ignored it until the following Sunday when it developed a green lump surrounded by inflammation so off to the small injuries department in A&E. At least it gave the nurse a laugh as she filled out the Government ‘ Cause of injury ‘ statistics form verbatim ‘ Bitten by umbrella’.
To be fair, Richard was correct in using the term rental or lease in that if you stop paying you lose the product. Perhaps lease renewal is a more accurate terminology than ‘subscription’, but obviously software marketers thought that regular subscription sounded more ‘club-like’,
The MOD will tightly control all the media content as they must never let the public realise what a bunch of incompetents they are!
Definitely looks like the Dreamliner should also be avoided if possible, it has just showered Rome with red-hot shards! link
[edit] Unfortunately it appears that the Rolls Royce Trent engine may have been the cause.
Imo Drezha has the correct approach. If you require all the bells and whistles for competitive advantage then by all means upgrade. If not then evaluate using FOSS or just keeping your older software. (using a vm container makes that very practical for Windows but not I think for venal Apple).
That said I dislike the subscription model as it can encourage companies to just put out fluff in their annual updates, and get fat and lazy. I much prefer the old M$ model in which you paid for a meaningful upgrade every couple of years and if not just kept using the old software. That way if the company did not give value for money then their sales suffered.
I wonder why the Beeb went with H264 rather than the smaller file sizes of HEVC for no discernable loss in quality. HEVC vs H264 (comparison) The other possible advantage is that the Turing HEVC codec is FOSS.
I guess it was dictated by the Smart TV consortium.
Thanks Lee!
I see you drink Titanic – a nice brew!
Richard I now see that you did not recognise that my post was actually following on from Dave’s post on people who are known to have a mental capacity problem. I agree, where something happens out of the blue, the shocking thinness of the ‘Blue Line is rarely relevant.
In some African countries you are not even fed. Your family is expected to bring food for you. Chopping off hands and heads in the Middle East also seems to work, as does 100 strokes of a cane. Apparently we have moved beyond such forms of retribution, but sometimes I wonder.
However the Western country with the lowest rate of recidivism is Norway‘s rate of 20%.
Richard my comment was factual not bigoted rubbish. Many officers no longer really know their beats and the people involved. While I agree no-one has stated that the tasering was due to inexperience, the officer concerned may have taken a totally different approach if he/she had known the full background of the individual in question, it may also have resulted in sending a team that included a mental health specialist (this is now standard practice in my area when the situation is known to include such an individual).
I used to know most of the local Police force by name, I now can only place names on two or three – the older ones took the package while the experienced middle aged officers have been assigned elsewhere to bigger, higher crime regions.
Please check the facts in your area before stating that my post was ‘rubbish’, and it certainly was not bigoted unless you ascribe a religious element to Conservative party membership!
I’m certainly not intolerant of Conservatives in general and some such as Ken Clarke generally speak sensibly and with great experience. Others however need to be held fully accountable for their past actions or support.
We are now in a Catch 22 situation, our idiot Conservative Government so reduces our Police Force that there are too few Police Officers on the street to nip any situation in the bud. This is compounded by very inexperienced officers, many of whom do not even know the area having just been bussed-in from some outlying district to cover shortages etc.
Despite statements from the Clown PM this situation will not improve for many years. The Police were forced to close and sell off many Police Stations so in many cases new Police Officers will have to work from home. They will not be able to use a Police car to get in as the Government forced a sell-off of these as well! I’ll just touch on the fact that training will be a huge resource consumer a that it will take years to increase numbers. (Unfortunately I cannot link to official data as there has been a Government clamp-down on releasing negative information, but any Neighbourhood Watch rep should have the contacts to verify these statements)
The nett effect is as said a Catch 22 situation, we are pretty much forced to be in a situation where the Police have to make up for insufficient resources with fire-power. (not REAL fire-power as training fire-arms officers takes even more resources!).
BTW I totally agree with JCD, and my perception is that a greater proportion of the population now need to be placed in controlled Institutions than was the case in the 1970s.
H265 is a lossy compression, but you will not notice the difference other than a ~20% reduction in file size.
The only time that I ever even think about frame rate is if I have to transcode something for Apple’s nasty iTunes (see Handbreak presets).
Had we have had MEPs who did their job properly instead of constantly sniping, then they would have been able to gain the support of the other MEPs. It was after all a democratic process that including veto rights in many cases.
I suspect the evil hand of the CIA in much of the recent turmoil, as the right wing of the US hated the way that the US was losing power and influence to the EU. It would be extremely interesting for Facebook to look for external agents (not just Russians) in pro-Brexit propaganda.
The IRA want a Hard Brexit as they will be able to use it to demand the referendum on uniting Eire and Ulster and calving themselves off from the UK.
Brexit is all about dividing what was a United Kingdom, even England is divided!
What is good for the IRA cannot be good for the UK, and trying to blame the EU for something the Conservatives instigated is just trying to obscure the truth.
I’m now using Luowice for ‘bang for the buck’. I do not use their internet/phone app and use a local connection to a separate management system that handles all the cameras and is open enough to enable customization of features such as zoom. (I simply zoom on tracking plus way-points).
