I’m not sanguine about the EU agreeing to this proposal for the following reason:
from the Mendacious One’s cover letter:
“Equally important in this context, the backstop acted as a bridge to a proposed future relationship with the EU in which the UK would be closely integrated with EU customs arrangements and would align with EU law in many areas. That proposed future relationship is not the goal of the current UK Government.”
He is basically asking the EU to accept that there will not necessarily be any alignment between the two sides of the Irish border. Although the dimwits in the DUP have not noticed they have already signed up to a future potential border in the Irish Sea or a hard border in Ireland. Just wait until the penny drops!
Its not over until the fat lady sings! You may be prematurely getting high.
I have not seen the detail as yet, but the Mendacious One’s proposal looks like a Hard Brexit with a sop to Ulster agriculture. There is not one word on trade agreement passporting – quite the opposite, and without this we basically have zero trade agreements. i.e. WTO
If I am right, even if this gets agreed, trade discussions with the EU will have to take place for the next five years as will talks on fish, cars, landing rights etc. Lots of interest groups such as Cornish/Scottish fishermen are going to cry betrayal.
At first glance this looks like a proposal designed to be rejected.
Probably cheaper to buy a couple of pre-paid ‘throwaways’ when you land. Probably get at most Walmart, CVS, WalGreen, Best Buy etc but watch out for their coverage areas. link
[edit] I said ‘couple’ as imo swmbo spends a lot more time on the phone than the male of the species!
The ‘Mendacious One’ may be having some major concerns if this Daily Mirror report is accurate. Although he IS an excellent word spinner and orator, that does not count for much if the CPS are after you.
I guess it now comes down to who will pay the most for the laptop – those backing a Hard Brexit or those betting on a $1.50 pound!
Just to add, the Eluteng USB3-SSD adapter also works well and has the advantage of a much shorter connector so allowing a neater stacking of Pi and SSD.
I would have to put it behind glass in my house, otherwise it would be spoiled by rampant spider webs in no time flat! Otherwise a very nice idea.

I think Bob is implying that anything that raises emotions (and Brexit certainly does that) gets reflected in an upsurge of Nationalism. I think that Bob is just raising a warning flag. He is correct to do so as the temperature has certainly risen in the last two years. (Parcel bombs with lots of warnings to selected London targets and numerous Ulster shooting/bomb incidents).
A Hard Brexit would inflame emotions to boiling point in both Eire and Ulster with the UK taking the blame.
Maybe your pub needs a signal booster on the roof/loft etc.
You obviously have never done business in India. On a scale of 1-awful to 10-a Joy, India crawls in at a 2 or 3! It is certainly the most difficult country to work with in the sub-continent. India still has a big colonial chip on their shoulder so do not look to them to be impressed by the UK outside the EU – quite the contrary.
Papers are now saying that a no-confidence vote could be triggered early next week assuming one of the elder statesmen (not Corbyn) ponies up as leader, so the duplicitous aspects of the Mendacious One could be due for a premature reveal.
I suspect that Corbyn has already figured that being temporary PM is a poisoned chalice so he may well be quite happy to throw his lot behind an elder statesman.
I suspect that we may well slip to sixth position behind India post-Brexit!
However I see the duplicitous ‘Mendacious One’ is said to be revealing his ‘rabbit’ sometime at or after the Tory Conference. Based on his track record of shafting friends and colleagues when it is in his personal interest that means he is about to shaft the Tories with something they will find unacceptable. He will then use his powers of oratory to say that it is necessary in order to win the next General Election.
I agree with not putting security cameras inside houses. The objective is to keep unwanted guests out, not to film them wrecking the place looking for the server!
If you can afford it, it probably is a good move to use Apple with kids as you can more securely lock them down.
The main reason for this is that Apple has a relatively low market share among the technical cognisant kids, so a locked-down Apple tends to remain that way. On the other hand many kids know how to root an Android in order to bypass restrictions, or parental tracking.
As Dave has said before, absolutely no-one voted for a Hard Brexit. Instead everyone voted for a mythical easy Brexit that would have no down-sides and bring back £350 million/week to be spent on the NHS. Any rational objections were dismissed by Boris et al as FUD.
[edit] btw many objected to May’s solution as it would have resulted in at least two years arguing over what replaced a Customs Union for the whole island of Ireland.
I cannot find the link that had a rather more demanding tone, but this ofcom paper says the move to voip is inevitable.
I think it is what the Government want. From my reading all the telephone providers have been told to migrate off copper onto voip by 2025. From the Government’s perspective it makes it easier for them to keep tabs on us if there is a single system. It would not surprise me to see other telcos following the O2 lead.
@VFM – you showed precisely what is wrong with the way Brexit has been approached over the last three years. It was confrontational and never inclusive of the concerns of nearly half of the population who did not vote Brexit. A Hard Brexit is even more confrontational and only good for those who have shorted Sterling.
The only way to bring the country together now is a Government of National Unity. Ditch a Hard Brexit, seek time from the EU and for the Brexiteers to recognise that the Irish border is an insoluble barrier and that we must accept the Customs Union and avoid the Hard Brexit five years during which we would negotiate pretty much the same thing!
Your talk of democracy is laughable given the Mendacious Ones flaunting of both democracy and the law!
Yep – it is the sun, unless that ‘ray’ from the object in the second video is a little green man potting a rabbit in the field!
Following an agreement with Nicky Morgan trr will not be turned on by default for us Brits. link
Given the time length of observation it was probably a large drone belonging to the landowner or the local police force. (Such police drones are quite common in rural areas to try and combat the huge rise in theft from farms and animal rustling – especially sheep around the time of Eid – mid June this year)
However, you said nothing about noise and such drones are usually quite noisy, but a windy day can obscure this. In this case I’d guess a small bug landed on the camera lens!
