At the moment, the rules for this group are not different (from those for the general public), so they are allowed out to take exercise or can leave their homes to go to work if they cannot work from home, but they are strongly advised to “take particular care”.
This group is different from those who are defined as being “clinically extremely vulnerable”. That group should be taking “shielding” measures, and include people with particular cancers and severe respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis.
People in this more at-risk group should have received a letter from their GP, and the measures that they are supposed to take are more severe, including not leaving their homes at all and remaining in lockdown until at least the end of June.
I never received a letter, or special treatment in terms of getting a delivery slot so I have not self-isolated, just taken a bit more care to not breach the 2m rule, wash hands, IPA wipe down anything received via Amazon etc. I also wear a pm2.5 filtered face mask in enclosed public places. (As I suffer from Hay Fever I found that the pm2.5 mask really does help to ward off pollen allergies!)
The petition to have Cummings sacked now stands at over 1 million.
One of our problems is that the ‘Scientific’ Advisors are Civil Servants, this results in two problems. First their advice always has a very strong stench of ‘Not Invented Here’, so ignore it until their favoured third parties can replicate it (masks are a great example, as is rejection for months of asymptomatic spreaders). Second they never let the proletariat hear their real unfettered advice. It is only when a SAGE member breaks ranks that we hear the other viewpoints.
IF we have been following scientific advice then we have the crappiest scientists in Europe maybe even The World as we now have the worst numbers of ‘excess deaths’ (This year’s total deaths versus same period last year). Even the US has a better record than we do! Something that for once the BoJo loving Murky Dog press could not gloss over it. Sun Link
This Twitter feed states that the Lockdown Easing to level three is AGAINST the scientific advice. Obviously a ploy to take the discussions away from Cummings. This evening’s Covid briefing might get heated if this comes up!
Looking at these John Hopkins charts on NEW covid infections, I get the distinct impression that the Cummings debacle has caused us to come out of tight lockdown about two weeks too soon!
Time will tell how many lives BoJo’s protection of Cummings will cost this country.

The answer to the question posed by Lee is ‘not yet’.
I watched the Cummings performance with interest, and while I think the legality of his position was questionable, it certainly breached the spirit of the ‘Lockdown’ and its rationale.
I came away with the distinct impression that Cummings piled his wife and child into his car and drove in a blue funk as far away from London as he could. He then rationalised it all afterwards, and it is totally unclear whether he or his wife ever actually suffered from a ‘coughless’ Covid-19, it is certainly the case that his child did not.
I now question his fitness to remain as an advisor. He not only showed lack of judgement and courage when the pressure was on, he then behaved completely illogically by doing a round 60 mile trip to a local beauty spot in order ‘to test his fitness to drive’! At no time did we receive an explanation on why his wife could not do half the driving. His reasons for fleeing London were spurious. I’m sure that had he had genuine concerns for the personal safety of his wife and family he had enough contacts at No.10 to arrange protection, ditto if he had remained in London and the whole family became ill – has someone disconnected his phone?
At the end of the hour I was unconvinced by his performance and came away with more questions than answers. I was also rather disappointed at the ‘hacks’ many of who just regurgitated previous questions without exposing the obvious holes in Cumming’s statements.
BoJo lacks any moral fibre and caves under pressure. Whether Cummings stays or goes depends which way BoJo thinks the wind is blowing. A good example is the asinine way he has just caved into Trump and the CIA over Huawei.
Sorry Steve I disagree it was more serious than you implied., He was infected, and dispersed his virus onto at least one forecourt pump, and payment system, plus possibly infected a forecourt attendant and three others. As he has police protection he probably infected a bunch of other people through his actions.
There is an old saying that applies – “With great power, comes great responsibility”. If you cannot fully abide by rules that you helped set then you should have any power stripped from you.
Write to the court that issued the CCJ.
This situation seems to be quite common, but DO NOT pay anything against the alleged debt, as that will not help you to set it aside. (If you pay anything you tacitly agree that the debt was yours).

I agree with you Dave, this is all being micromanaged so that we do not demand that UK Regions are treated like French Departments with each going at a speed appropriate to local conditions. Were that so, I could be going to the pub tonight as there were zero new cases of Covid in my area according to ONS data.

I just wish it had a moderator with the balls to yell ‘Answer the damned question’ at each time the Government or ‘Scientific’ Advisor just restates the question and moves on to the next person.

Sorry I broke your website twice!
The first time was searching for ‘new phone’, the second was going back through the forum pages. Pages 1-12 opened OK Page 13 barfed and as shown stated that the website has a critical error.
It isn’t just military guys that need to learn security, but also beer-drinking bods from GCHQ!
Unfortunately all the signs are that Dave was correct a few posts ago and the Government tracking app is the usual Government balls-up. We will see, but today Raff did not give one straight answer when questioned about the app.
I’m also getting more than a little annoyed at the Chief ‘Scientific’ Advisor — Prof Van Tam. His job title should be rewritten as Chief Government Scientific Shill and Cover-Up Boy. He excuses everything with not being able to answer as covid-19 is so new. New it may be, but there is enough research work from China, France, Germany and the US to draw out educated estimates. If Van Tam and other scientific gravy train boys had their way nothing would be done until covid had reaped its full death toll — viz the Twelve Month long (!) Oxford study into possible covid treatments. I think their funding should be stopped if nothing is published after three months not waiting until twelve months and a new mutation has invalidated everything.
The tardy announcement by the Government (weeks after other countries) that loss of smell/taste is a marker for covid-19 now convinces me that I caught covid around the 4/5 of February with full-blown symptoms as noted in the forum on February 9th. I lost the sense of taste for sweet/sour things leaving only ‘bitter’ which made tea/coffee taste foul, this was followed by a racking cough that often left me breathless and O2 sats around 90%. In retrospect I think it was only VFM’s encouragement to keep dosing with zinc and my hitting the gut bug aspects with licorice that kept me *safely out of hospital or worse. Of course at that time our inept NIH scientific advisors and Mushroom Matt were still ignoring everything learnt in China, so they lied and stated that all the south coast super-spreader contacts had been traced. As a result I totally dismissed the possibility of covid, and just thought I had another horrible flu. Now though when I add up all the symptoms I had most of them! More by luck than judgement my wife and I isolated for the next week or two.
I obviously do not KNOW that I have had covid, but if it is like the one I had, I strongly advise everyone to try and avoid it. I was still being racked breathless to an involuntary whoop when coughs were triggered by volatiles/pollution/pollen for ten weeks afterwards.
*’safely’ out of hospital as they would have stopped the zinc/licorice/aspirin and used high dose paracetamol which has zero effect on me. At that time there were no approved treatments for covid.
The ONS blogs are an interesting subscription – they cover everything from demographics, through social surveys and covid-19. Not just raw stats, but also a discussion and inferences to be drawn. (sort of stuff they would give a Minister)
