Shooter games are not necessarily low-spec., for example Doom Eternal’s recommended hardware for low spec graphics is shown below. Ramping up the graphics needs a better GPU, or accept lower frame rates.
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: 64-bit Windows 7/64-Bit Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i5 @ 3.3 GHz or better, or AMD Ryzen 3 @ 3.1 GHz or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4GB), GTX 1060 (6GB), GTX 1650 (4GB) or AMD Radeon R9 290 (4GB)/RX 470 (4GB)
Storage: 50 GB available space
Additional Notes: 1080p / 60 FPS / Low Quality Settings. The recommended specs are:

However given their ages the real choice will probably be in their nominated VPs. Harris vs the ultra religious Pence. Both are lawyers so two strikes against them, but I distrust the stability of any religious radical radical, so imo Kamala Harris will probably be a safer long term choice and she has at least lived outside the US.
Given BoJo’s previous history of racist comments he is going to have to be on his best behaviour from now on!
November 7, 2020 at 1:02 pm in reply to: Will the Political Establishment seek revenge on Trump? #63266It was our biggest foreign trading partner, with Aircraft (Boeing/Military) and electronics (Apple etc) topping the list of imports, but it was our biggest export partner with medical goods & cars heading the list. However it is in services Amazon, Google Facebook etc. that the US has a real stranglehold.
However my biggest interest in the US is the damage their foreign policies cause to the world. The US has invaded over 50 countries since the end of World War 2 (all the way from lowly Granada up to Iraq, Korea and Vietnam), and politically interfered (Cuba, Chile, Columbia, Laos, Zaire, Falklands etc.) in far more. Although some of these were the work of rogue actors in the CIA or ill-advised Secretaries of State, the vast majority were at the behest of the US President, and that is why I take a keen interest in their election and why I prefer to see a mentally stable POTUS!
Have you noticed that BoJo is definitely not the person who managed to entrance most of the electorate. Even the EU have complained that BoJo now seems unable to grasp details.
Similarly Trump has become even more outrageous in his behaviour, and wild in his accusations,
There is a medical explanation for both these observations.
Brain Fog – its an official post-Covid symptom. link
November 7, 2020 at 10:58 am in reply to: Will the Political Establishment seek revenge on Trump? #63251When the Murkydogs abandon you then you know that your political ship is sinking fast.
The Murkydog empire of Fox News etc are now counselling Trump to step down in a statesman like manner as soon as Biden has officially passed the finishing post.
“Now losing, especially when you believe the process wasn’t fair, it’s a gut punch. And I’m not conceding anything tonight, by the way. But losing, if that’s what happens – it’s awful. But president Trump’s legacy will only become more significant if he focuses on moving the country forward.” — Laura Ingraham Fox News
Trump apparently angrily ranted to Murkydog after Fox News had announced that he had lost Arizona, and Fox News started to distance themselves from Trump shortly afterwards.
Trump’s case for ‘rigged’ ballot boxes has also been pretty well scuppered by his own Cyber Security Agency who have posted:
“Don’t fall for these efforts to confuse & undermine confidence in the election!” CISA Director Chris Krebs tweeted Friday.
I wonder if Murkydog will now join the Mail, and turn on BoJo.
November 7, 2020 at 6:48 am in reply to: Will the Political Establishment seek revenge on Trump? #63247“…..With Trump, I honestly expect a ‘medical’ diagnosis around March”
He obviously has ‘Long Covid brain fug’, the same ailment that afflicts Bojo in a more severe form.
Yep they WERE sandbagged and this has now been confirmed by the official statistics watchdog.
It was of course perfectly obvious to anyone who had looked at the UK data and had even a modicum of experience in handling statistics.
There is an old tried and tested saying for all computer modelling:
Crap in = steaming heaps of crap out.
Moral – always critically examine the assumptions that are used.
I’ve been tempted for ages, but put off by the apparent lack of print quality in the sort of printer I could afford.
However things are changing/changed and reports of multi-material printing and stuff like this have resulted in the itch still being there. I have a vague dream of mixing conductive materials with the flexible voile-like materials in the link to make some interesting sensors/capacitors/clothing accessories.
I have also been tempted by CNC laser cutters to use all the Amazon cardboard leftovers and laminate them into furniture etc.
That said, I think a new Ryzen PC probably takes the biscuit and will use all my spare cash!
I forgot to correct your assertion that C++ managed compiled bytecode is not analogous to p-code. Microsoft does not call it p-code they call it bytecode, but it is in fact managed by the Common Language Runtime. See M$ article
This M$ document explains how it works. In my view the principle of using the M$ CLR is not a lot different from the Java or Python runtime machines both of which run in a managed environment. It isn’t old school bare metal C++ unmanaged code that when compiled runs directly on the CPU.
“The Managed Code running under a Common Language Runtime cannot be accessed outside the runtime environment as well as cannot call directly from outside the runtime environment.”
OKish I guess, but a few really major minuses. The use of the non-standard micro HD connector being the biggy, along with no internal speaker, and no microphone connection. Also it does not even bundle in RetroPi and a few games.
Imo, overall a bit cheapskate and it detracts from being able to give a child a working PC. :negative:
I find myself in a dichotomy.
Half of me is pleased that by going into a hard lock-down now, we avoid having to do it during the period a Hard Brexit locks us out of the world. The other half of me does not know whether to laugh or cry at the way the scientific community probably sand-bagged our inept Government into doing the right thing.
Why do I say sand-bagged? Because they built in implicit assumptions that regional measures were not working, and ignored data such as that for Liverpool which shows a 25% DROP in the number of cases. In fact if you look at the data for the early Tier 3 adopters they all show the same trend (Manchester was late to adopt and is still rising).
Not totally true Keith. If you look at the pics, they put a barrier of sorts around the darned great hole in the deck.
On the other hand, again looking at the pics there is a large corrosion hole in the fairing around the conning tower pressure structure. While it should not affect the integrity of the sub, I wonder what it would do to its performance and silent running.
It all reflects a couldn’t care less attitude, which may be why they lost the Kursk.
The wiki on the Typhoon class nuclear submarines states that the US & Canada paid for a bunch of such subs to be decommissioned. Hopefully this was one of them, as the other quote was that it was cheaper to build two new subs than to upgrade one of these old ‘Red Oktober’ era subs.
I wish I could get my head around Blender! I’m afraid that by beating Blender’s own idiosyncratic modelling path my ingrained habits for using all the mainstream commercial modellers gets in the way.
Thankfully the days of Mushroom Matt hoarding all the info are nearly all gone. The Government is now less able to conceal what a pigs-ear it is making of its Covid-19 measures.
The interactive map showing new cases in your area has been around for a few weeks. link You can zoom in with the middle mouse button to an area containing about 7000 people and get a feel for what precautions you need to take for your next trip to the shops. Unfortunately outside England, the local equivalents of Mushroom Matt still hold sway and the data is nowhere near as granular. (It may be worth complaining to your MP!)
In addition to this, we now have UCL analysing the data and identifying all the holes in the Government information system. There is an old management saying — ‘if you do not know where you are, and you don’t know where you want to go, then you are in a real mess — just like Dido Harding.
The UCL analysis shows that we know nothing about those eligible to claim the £500 Covid grant from their local authorities. Details on numbers, location and whether they are all claiming are totally absent. It is therefore unsurprising that Matt Hancock lied to Parliament over the missing Track&Trace button. This analysis also highlights that only 16% of those infected with Covid are advised to isolate, and that data on actual isolation and support are then completely absent.
The UCL link is well worth book-marking and may assist those in the North of England to play hell with their MPs who doubtless have no idea how badly Dido, Queen of Chaos is performing.
Just for completeness, M$ Windows Explorer (Details) does not show the GPS data that is available in the file properties. This seems to be a major oversight. :negative:
You can however display the comments property and edit there as a manual solution
btw – if you have old photos or a camera without GPS try Geosetter to manually add the data.
After thought – I should have probably added this link on GPS data.
Same problem!
Do not wish to ‘teach Granny’, but if you then use file explorer to sort on your required exif data, you can then switch to large icon view and your photos could be sorted into GPS coords etc.
