The Store is just as vulnerable as the pump – probably more-so in this country. Most pumps now have 24/7 CCTV which afaik is never within the full control of the cashier (at least with respect to editing etc.). Anyone tampering with the pump itself would likely be caught on CCTV. In this respect the cashier’s system is more vulnerable and it was on this system that we had a reported local incident (at an ASDA iirc) a year or so ago. In this case, apparently it was a bent cashier allowing a third-party (boy-friend?) to add the skimmer. Technical details were never released but it did not sound to be as sophisticated as those featured in the Sparkfun article as the police/newspapers warned about never letting your card out of your sight..
Local SHOULD be no problem, and that was my big issue. Thinking about it, maybe it would not have barfed if I had dropped the http:// bit. I’ll just have to uninstall FFox to try as there seems to be no way of resetting a typed-in about:config.
I’m not sure that you can test it without a valid address . From the linked write-up the PORT (not the URL) is the part that is blocked.
“It seems as a security touch to Firefox it is now blocking non standard HTTP port”
The LAN address was pretty normal in appearance except it used port 81
[edit] there was a minor typo in my example LAN address, it should have read
192. 168. xxx. xxx:81
Have a great day!
Another chip in the 8 bit Atari’s was a standard motorola GPIO. This was wired out to the joystick ports and was fully software programable for input or output. At the time I connected up a couple of my own project boards and wondered why nobody else seemed interested. Now we have the raspery Pi and people rave about it
I can tell you why I did not get interested at that time – soldering.
Soldering with non-temperature controlled irons and clunky tips was at best hit or miss, and if you ever soldered in a (relatively expensive) clock chip it was 50:50 whether or not you zapped it with static. I really only got back into playing with electronics when decent low-cost solder stations and anti-static mats made their appearance.
The Pi is different again, you can do a lot with no soldering at all. Lego-like electronics.
Well done! I’m quite amazed you managed to get a more or less fully functioning system.
Although one newspaper (The Mirror) decried the crowd hooliganism, and Arsenal face enquiries over the tickets that obviously went to touts; the Koln fans were actually very well behaved (by Koln standards), and The Sun said it wasn’t nearly as bad as the West Ham-MU match. However, I think I’ll avoid going to the Koln Christmas Market during the return game!
Do NOT do anything until you have made a bit level clone of the disk! Recovery efforts may work, on the other hand they may totally cock-up the disk. I’m afraid you are going to have to spend money on a new disk and backup facilities before you do anything. For a bit-level clone I’d recommend that you look at ddrescue. Other than what ever you need to do the clone the new disk is not wasted as your old drive should be junked once you have restored everything.
Once you have a clone put your original disk away somewhere safe as you may need to clone it again if things go belly up.
Once you have a cloned disk to work on you could attempt to restore the MFT – you MIGHT be lucky. Do NOT use chkdsk that causes more tears than cheers. I’d personally try and get the files off individually using a Linux machine, but if you are not comfortable with Linux you could try Active File Recovery.
However just to repeat my opening remark – you MUST make a clone first!
Actually the US not Japan. The Logo is that of the New York Times and a bit of GoogleFu brings up the name McMullan. See Link
As you say sex drives a lot of commercialism, and sex robots MIGHT be a good thing if they keep perverts away from real humans. They could however have quite the opposite bad effect – I guess time will tell.
At the moment I find their appearance mildly terrifying and reminiscent of Chucky from Childs Play..
You somehow changed your folder options. Assuming you have Windows 10, open Explorer, select the view tab, go to the Options tab (far right), change folder & search options, there is an option to click items. Use the ‘doubleclick’ to open option not the Single click one. Or if you like the single click option then change it to underline icons only when they are pointed at.
Long time since I used 7, but open Explorer and somewhere on the menu bar is a folder option, then proceed as above.
Quite amazing that the Ref called it as there was only one position where it was clearly unintentional but still exceptionally dangerous play. From all other angles it just looks like a clash.
Different economics arise if you generate your own leccy. The wife looks at the weather forecast, makes a judgement of midday sunshine then puts the tumble-dryer on if we are likely to be exporting., Her fall-back is to put it on at night and use the night-time rate. We do not use electrical heating so the only big users are the dryer, dish-washer and iron. Just saves pennies but the wife likes feeling in control (the leccy and FIT payment are all in her name for some obscure reason)
Another Space-X launch but this one shows the first stage coming back to land near its launch pad. The launch itself is around 12 minutes in.
Sorry I cannot help, our secondary point is too far away to hear it.
I’m not getting one for similar reasons to Dave, but we already get 90% of any benefits from the computer built into the battery inverter controls. I understand for those without a feed-in Tariff system the leccy companies are now looking at rolling out ‘special offers’ tp those with smart meters/equipment. For example you may get specially discounted rates for using your tumble-dryer when they have too much wind/solar generation being fed into the system.
Thanks John, useful to know that I’m covered if ever I can find that number of good programs running at the same time!
The ‘plus’ to the 4K box is the installation should include the additional lnb which enables at least two channels to be recorded separately.
It is easy to set up ‘wired’ it is just obscured out of the way for some reason. I think they just do it to push Sky Broadband. In fact the installer who did mine said ‘Good you have got Ethernet – the wifi is rubbish, and often results in call-outs for me!’
The distributed bit works as you say but needs one mini-box per TV (you only get one as part of the installation). Of far more practical use is the SkyQ pad app. The pads use my home router wifi – not Sky’s. I do not even know if I can now set up Sky wifi, but I guess I could in the very unlikely event I wanted to do so..
Lots of infrastructure is already in place (see map). I reckon there are now almost as many charging points as there are Service Station outlets. Unlike petrol you can even have a refuelling point in your house and if you have solar panels your mileage is very low cost, albeit a 40Kwh battery could be charging most of the day.
Imo the biggest drawback was lack of range for a reasonable price, but the Renault Zoe with a rated 200+miles (real road driving range) changed all that. Hybrids of course do not have range limitations as such, The only problem with a hybrid is that the otherwise outstanding mpg gets completely eroded when pedal to the metal takes over and electric+petrol acceleration is fully used.
Mea Culpa – not sure why I wrote Sheffield! It is of course Nottingham, But the forum does not let me correct it now.
