Julia Skripal is not a spy, she is just an innocent Russian citizen caught up in all this. Until just days before her poisoning she was living with her boyfriend in Russia. Your comments, Richard, may have had a little validity if they had referred to her father. If anything I think you may have swallowed some CIA propaganda, as the facts from fairly reliable Western sources (BBC, CNN, Guardian etc) are exactly as I stated.

Any suspicions could so easily have been assuaged through a short televised interview – why has HMG not allowed or even encouraged this?

Maybe Steve, but where does Facebook get its money?

The whole Salisbury tale remains very strange.

I see that Julia Skripal has been discharged from hospital and immediately whisked away to a ‘secure place’. All without allowing her to make a public appearance to state that she does not want Russian Consular help etc at this stage. Had this been a Brit in a similar circumstance we would be crying blue murder as indeed Russia has been doing. Very odd behaviour by our Government, I just hope that she does not ‘relapse’ and suffer the same fate as the Skripal’s pet cat and guinea pigs which were starved to death in the Skripal’s house despite all the forensic activities taking place. The animal hair could at least have helped determine the timing of the Skripal’s poisoning. (They cannot now be examined as they were immediately cremated). CNN link

Just as titled, this is a conspiracy theorists heaven, and does not cast HMG in a very good light at all.

Richard, the Great Library burning(s)  are obviously too long ago to make any dogmatic statements. All I can do is quote history books, and point out that Roman actions were very different from those of the Western Allies in WWII for both Paris and Rome. Even Germany still has a lot of untouched monumental stuff from Roman times in what would have been front-line areas e.g. Trier

As you say the sheep follow the herd without thought, however the real impact will come if the Corporates fear that they will become tainted by FaceBook. If they walk a lot of the attraction for the herd disappears.

I think Bob was being brave and super-optimistic on timing. Once they have  cut through all the stomach muscles and got you peeled apart  they tend to do as much as you are capable of handling. I would expect even lifting his head is still a very painful effort at this stage.

The InfoZucker has started his testimony to the US House of Representatives. The pdf in the link is in essence one big ‘mea culpa’. I’m afraid that this is all too little and too late and it looks like Facebook is now toast as Steve Wozniak joins a list of high profile people deleting their Facebook accounts.

Notifcations->Little Button that does a select all. That apparently worked, but the Bulk Actions then only applied delete to the first visible page. Now thankfully I can delete the lot even those on the second+ pages. Ditto other alerts.

One common point of failure for all these sensors and starter is the car’s grounding system, e.g. corroded ground wires to the battery or frame.

What gets me is the obvious craftsmanship in putting together something requiring watchmakers skills (and eyesight) in an age where we previously thought they only had the most primitive tools. It is a great shame that the Romans (and Christians) deliberately destroyed stuff like this e.g. Aurelian burned the great library of Alexandria.

I should have said systemv deprecation not systemd in my previous post. The latest Raspbian is Stretch so contains most of the Debian Stretch kernel plus specialist additions. As such it uses systemd, but I’d still like to know if it works as expected. If so then maybe I’d better start using it rather than avoiding it as being flakey.

Dan, I have not looked on the latest release but Raspbian started following the nasty deprecation of systemd that Debian started. From this link it looks as though it still causes problems. As a result I have bodging scripts carrying out the functions that were previously possible with systemd. However if you have found systemd does as used to be expected in the latest raspbian then I’ll be pleased to hear about it.

Good luck – in my experience a lot of garages are completely lost when the ECU goes tits-up. If a replacement part does not work, I just hope that your local garage still has an old phart who remembers how to check through the circuits or knows how to bypass the start-up system to get the ECU off the ground. Dumbing-down systems has its flaws!

As Richard says modern car electrics are horrendously complex and inter-connected, I gave up on even attempting to look when someone pointed out that even the entertainment system can be involved!

An American friend of mine has been pushing the benefits of Vitamin K2 (MK7 variety as found in Japanese Natto and Miso). He has been specifically pushing it for cardio related problems as it has been shown to mobilise cholesterol out of the blood into bones. I see that it is now being looked at by Arthritis Research Groups as well. link

MK7 is not cheap ~£25/month, but it is harmless and overdosing is not an issue. Smaller amounts of MK7 are also present in French Brie. (Apart from Japan France has the lowest rate of cardio deaths according to WHO – link)

Note MK7 is fat soluble, so pills MUST be taken together with something fatty e.g. yoghurt, cheese or similar.

Graham, I have always been a bit cautious of using Paypal with unknown’ foreign suppliers who helpfully link you to Paypal. Although I get the Secure Payment tag and it behaves like Paypal I believe that some sites could be sophisticated enough to mount a man-in-the-middle attack so I always reset my password immediately after using Paypal and closing my browser.
