If you are looking to sell on a collect only basis I would have thought that Gumtree would be a more sensible option.

It is like using the exchanger on the back of the fridge to heat your house.. It takes power to run the ‘system and it cools the outside air. I guess it has a downside for any nearby vegetation,, but it is a much more efficient heater than an equivalent 5-10 bar electric fire.

My elder son has an air-source heat pump (blows warm air through under-floor ducting). He is over the moon about it, but seeing how his last house was like a draughty tent that may not be such a great recommendation.  He does however get a regular Government contribution for the installation. It would be worth checking if the property in question  is eligible and if so, will it be transferred. (some shysters buy-out/sell such incentives)

[edit] Flooding can occur from other sources than nature. A couple of homes in this area were flooded out when a water main burst.

Thanks Duke I have tried to select collection with no luck, thanks for the suggestion, I have emailed? it still might be better (as you suggest) to call in, although that defeats the object of online shopping.

Yes, but if no-one calls and/or uses info@matalan.co.uk they do not know they have a problem.

I just hope that HMS White Efflump has a really BIG maintenance store. Apparently you can only land the F35B ten times before the tyres are completely nadgered. link.

It has to be a really big store as the lead time for many parts is measured in years! link

A lot of companies now use this option. When you do so at check-out just to add to what Steve says they check your PayPal is valid by your signing on to PayPal, then they have your address. You do not actually get billed until you choose method of delivery etc and accept the order. As an option for UK purchases I like it as the vendor never gets a copy of the actual credit card number and I do not need to pfaff around filling out my address. However having been let down badly by PayPal over a Chibay purchase I would never use them for non-UK purchases.

A number of the high profile Arab investors saw it as a  way of buying a funk hole as well as giving them some return on investment. As the funk holes become less attractive I would expect them to try and sell out.

Others, especially the US investors are just asset strippers who will strip out anything that isn’t nailed down and put the club in debt to them at the same time. I will not name names but anyone with a vague interest in footie will know the names of some of these villains.

Apple WERE the main (almost sole) custodians for quite a long time, but I believe that recently both Redhat and Ubuntu have been active in making the CUPS GUI more intelligible for desktop use. e.g. arcane use of print server nomenclature, and a little less ambiguous  etc.

The original developer Michael Sweet is still heavily involved in the project.

Steve, while I was looking for info on setting up BT+chromium on my Pi, I came across this thread which appears to say that Chromecast does not play with BT speakers.

I do not use Chromecast so I cannot check, neither can I tell how old is the thread. As you use both maybe you can comment if this is a real BT issue, or maybe a good reason to choose Alexa over Chromecast.

[edit] I scrolled to the end of the long thread and discovered that some idiot in Google had deliberately disabled this option, but it has now been switched on!

The tit-for-tat expulsions of Embassy people resulted in the Moscow visa dept being almost totally denuded of staff*, so it may or may not have been a deliberate UK action. Be that as it may, he will not be either the first or last foreign footie owner to throw a wobbly and say FU. (Remember when Chainrai nearly scuppered Pompey?)

*With a few exceptions you normally have to apply for such visas in your country of residence rather than the country in which  you want to work/reside

As you say BL, audio is a very individual choice. However, if you just want ‘simple’ then BT has matured to the point where it can be a very simple set-up that provides more than adequate sound. Super hi-fi it isn’t but it does a great job for everyday use.

I agree with Steve, if you want simple PC sound then mains-powered BlueTooth is the way to go. Battery BT is OK but look for ones that you can use and charge at the same time.

I keep all my passwords in Keepass II, and the master password for that is dymotaped onto my monitor surround.  I’m too aware that i’m rapidly approaching the male UK mean life expectancy so it would be stupid to try and conceal anything my wife and family may need without warning.

I also take Bob’s comment of failing memory on board as well. I have recently witnessed a neighbour go from bright as a button to raving psychopath within a space of just six months. (I’d guess a tumour or the like may have been involved).

The Beeb now has more about the gagging of reporting link.On reflection IMO I do not think that the Judge showed good judgement in his actions as it looked more like a political gagging than a move to protect justice in an on-going trial.

Political martyrdom and publicity was what he wanted and has now achieved.

Leather is nice, but about 20% of females have a nickel allergy and nickel is often used to prevent mould on leather goods. This shows what nickel does to feet if the person has the allergy, just think what it could do to the nether end! (Only 5-10% of males have this allergy for some reason, but the higher incidence with females is thought to be caused by bra fastenings and nickel-silver jewellery)

Obviously it is easy to ask your partner if they have the allergy, but really anyone travelling in your car needs to be alerted as well!

Most European cars now state if the seat coverings are nickel free – I think Volvo were first to the market on this point

I bought one of these. If you ignore the carp FM radio it is a brilliant mains powered  BT speaker. Nice ’round’ sound if you know what I mean.

I guess it could be a crap-shoot on the FM radio and I was just unlucky, but I would advise against it as a radio.

I tried it in the position it will be used which is currently occupied by an ancient FM steam radio (that works perfectly!). I did move it elsewhere in the house and it will pick up FM in the 100+ range which isn’t much good but suggests that something is reducing the active length of the aerial.

All credit to the Frogs for being able to officially reward him for his service within hours of the event. It would take our mob of moribund Gammons years just to kick the thought into the long grass. Just think how long they took over the plight of the Gurkhas and years later the Afghani interpreters are still in peril.
