As they are ‘travelling’ the Koran says that Muslims should adopt local customs and merge with the populace. i.e. absolutely no requirement to fast.

I used to stay at the Hilton in Istanbul which has/had  bars, nightclub and a casino. During Ramadan all of these would be chock-block full of ‘travelling ‘ Saudies. and Kuwaities none of whom would be in dish-dashes, and many would be three sheets to the wind with booze.

It is probably pre-formatted using Fat32 which is good for around 2Tbytes, exFat would take it up into the Petabyte range!. However NTFS is a better choice for your purposes.

Bob, I see you have the ubiquitous plastic doors (nice rose btw). I hope you have found the time to update your Euro lock barrel, some of the earlier Euro locks take seconds to open with a vibrator (sex toy) and blank key. link

A couple up the road from me have a near identical front door, and they were done over by a walk-in thief a few months ago. They had quite a problem with their insurance company as there was no sign of a forced entry (naturally the insurance company tried it on that they had left the front door unlocked). Luckily they were able to show they still had the old Euro lock and police reports on ‘bumping’ in the area.

@Dave – you made an interesting comment about BTHomeHub causing visibility issues as that is what I use. What router do you recommend as a replacement?

The Sky installers are to blame, their customer script says to push wifi broadband and preferably that of Sky. It is only if you have an existing point and you want it used that they will go to the master menu’s wired options setup section. (a reluctant admission from a Sky installer)

Sorry Dave I disagree. Renaming the PCs to something meaningful makes it a lot easier to sort out which computer is invisible and needs sorting out.

Unfortunately Microsoft has gone crazy in the interests of pushing you towards their nasty Cloud alternate. You now have to go through the hassle of individual folder-level sharing using File Explorer. This link explains the somewhat cumbersome way of sharing on a home network.BUT it does not always work as the Networking carp often does not show all computers on your network. Possibly coupling  this method by Andre Costa may enable it to work.

Probably before this you should log in on each computer as an Administrator and give each computer a meaningful name. I have to agree with you this was a NASTY update. I share my files through a Synology NAS and don’t need this carp.

If a good wifi signal is available wherever needed then no additional TV points are required. Sky etc basically allow TV without TV points and of course there are other options such as Roku etc.

Trump’s latest shenanigans at the G7 reminds me of the ‘Fall of the Roman Empire’.  We and all the rest of the suckers allies have been providing the mercenaries and buffer zones that prop up a fading empire with the US providing a trustworthy political centre. Just like the Romans the US is becoming greedy and self-centred and doing things that hurt its allies.  Time Magazine had an article likening Trump to Caligula – it looks like that analogy could well be accurate.

As the BBC commentator remarked last night it is almost better to be like the North Koreans or Russians than an ally, as US treaties and pacts will not be honoured.

I think I should edit out the question mark on ‘Untrustworthy’

Sorry John, I misunderstood. I guess I’m just not sure why he uses a Freeview box, the TV comes with Freeview Play which appears to do most everything a Freeview box will do.

Unfortunately Pi Bluetooth audio  needs a LOT of hands-on fiddling to get it to work. You probably need to do a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and  install bluealsa as starters.  As you like using cli this link might help.

The other trick you may need is to run sudo raspi-config -> advanced ->audio and select the option to force audio to the headphone. (You also need to do this for Bluetooth speakers)

Don’t get me wrong, I am in favour of England playing at UK venues other than London. I’m just dead against selling out assets to foreigners. Worse still – sell out at a price lower than it cost ten years ago! Property prices in London have more than doubled in that period – Shahid Khan must take the FA as a bunch of simpletons.

Re the Wembley sale: I am dead against it. It was built with the help of Government assistance and the FA does not need the money.  All too often I’ve seen offshore chancers buyers saddle up teams with debt and asset strip —- a very bad move imo.

My wife is a Manc supporter, but while she adores Sterling she is more sanguine about him in the England squad. Her point is that Sterling is not great at actually looking out for his team mates, with City that doesn’t matter as he can pass without looking, knowing that there will be a player waiting to pick up the ball. He may need more time playing with his squad to generate that passing confidence, but maybe Kane or Vardy can fill that gap with him.

I’m personally not a fan of Jones – too cumbersome and too much of a clogger for my liking. He could give away unnecessary penalties.

Bob I think you should probably put your cowboy statement in the past tense, as today you cannot get a Government FIT payment unless the system has been specced and installed by a FIT qualified installer. link

That said it is still a little bit of a buyer-beware area in that it is possible for a qualified installer to spec up a system to older standards that work but not quite as efficiently as more modern kit. For example there is nothing wrong from a FIT standpoint with speccing up a U-Boat style lead-acid battery system that would fill your garage in the place of  a much smaller Lithium battery system. (such a lead-acid system might actually be the optimum for a farm set-up). The actual installation has to be signed off to the usual electrical standards for equipment that taps into the box outside the consumer unit so no real room for cowboys on that side

The door-knocking survey cowboys are something else – closer to roofing con-men.
