The biggest attraction that many find wrt Corbyn is that he does not lie or dissemble. (if he does he hasn’t been caught out as yet). In contrast most other politicians lie/dissemble with every other breath.

May even puts her dissembling in print:

“Freedom of movement as it stands will come to an end . . .”

It will be interesting to see how she squares that with an open Irish border.

Gove as leader is unelectable. In these days of media attention with the exception of Surrey who is going to vote for a political leader who looks like an evil toad!

Not that economic reality counts for anything, a ‘hard’ Brexit will (according to Business Leaders) damage Labour strongholds rather than Conservative ones.

That said I really don’t see that May had any choice – the reality of Northern Ireland and a fair chance the DUP could cause a snap election means that everything has to give way to an ‘open’ border between Ireland and Ulster with all that entails.

[edit] btw any hope of using a ‘High Tech’ solution for the Eire border is just smoking pot. The Government’s own Digital Services putsch has been sabotaged by Civil Service in-fighting and now lies in ruins. link

I found it interesting that Stirling is actually taking on the role served by Kevin De Bruyne for Manchester City.

Assuming England can win through the semi finals I think that Belgium remains the side to beat. Unfortunately De Bruyne knows how to anticipate Sterling’s movements and vice versa which may make it an interesting challenge for the respective managers on where/whether to play them.

If it is a CETA deal plus a bit of Ag & Fish then I cannot see the EU baulking as Canada has set a major precedent. In addition all the Goods &Ag balances favour the EU. The EU has most to lose on any UK tariff scenario. while we have already pretty much already  cocked up our European financial side.

A slight disagreement with Steve on monitors. While he is directionally correct more games are increasingly moving the 4K route.

However with respect to Dan’s Blender hobby I have a major disagreement – in that case screen real estate is a huge plus. My ‘Apple’ son uses two 4K monitors. One is almost completely reserved for modelling assets (texture maps shader routines etc), That screen is always choc-bloc full as he uses it as a way of calling up assets from his server. The other screen is his work/modelling screen. The texture asset screen serves a dual purpose as he flips it across to rendering output when modelling is complete.

+1 on games + work. Those are M$’s areas of strength for Windows.

At this time, the Pi + python+Beautiful Soup makes it very easy for me to put together a PIM that covers my needs. That is a browser that switches between the major radio & TV channels, a scrolling RSS reader, and a weather outlook. With those plus an Android mail/phone/messages most of my daily PIM requirements are covered.

IF Andromeda can wrap all those into one, then it could be of interest as a single pocket-sized solution. M$ would however have to open up all their api’s to python to facilitate such a change and not charge a HUGE developer tax on their software.

This sort of item is a waste of time, and as Steve says break easily. I used to travel over much of the world and found that other than Australasia you just need a couple of converters that are smaller and easily fit into a suitcase. Australia/New Zealand plugs are special cases as their sockets are angled at 120 degrees to the earth socket.

No, Lenova built Thinkpads for IBM for a couple of years, then bought out the Thinkpad rights from IBM.

A warm couple of warm late Winter days started all  the buds to open, then this was followed by the  ‘Beast from the East’. As a result the insect population was decimated and 90% of the buds and flowers never got pollinated or dropped early. I suspect outdoor fruit crops will be low in this area.

The Lenova laptop was the IBM Thinkpad originally, and they ran the Thinkpad name in parallel for a couple of years iirc..

The Andromeda (nee Courier) is rumoured to be both a foldable pad AND a Win10 phone.

I dunno about the pad aspect, but it could be an ideal ‘personal assistant’ format, assuming they get Edge to start to rival its competitors.

I find it very tasty. (Umami taste apparently), Don’t worry about the salty flavour scientific testing shows that  it has zero effect on blood pressure.

Plug it in where you like, but if you plug in an external usb hub do not overload it, better to use a powered hub in that case.
