Keep motoring on Bob – have a good one, and don’t forget to pull together all your reminiscences. Social Historians in 150 years time will love them. It will add balance to all the misleading stuff in Politician’s autobiographies.

Bob, not to belabour the bit about Entertainment Suites but they are not just for match days. Last year I went to a Wedding Reception for a MC fan and it was held  here:

Just copy your ‘Home’ files to a USB, the system files+programs are fairly independent but moving between virtual to real causes driver and other issues best taken care with a clean install which will only take minutes.

Best forgotten Richard, it was my misunderstanding of an unfortunate side remark VFM made.

Nice, but it appears ‘light’ on the money-making Entertainment Suites. Maybe its just the angle of the artist’s impression, and they are hidden away somewhere else.

Mea Culpa – I conflated your remarks with those of Richard’s concerning the person who ‘did not do mornings’. My apologies for inadvertently ascribing that remark to you.

Btw I know exactly how Food Bank’s work, my wife used to issue the authorisation slips. That association and her emotional stress probably accounts for my degree of sensitivity to the subject. As a result of her work I also know that she would not issue slips to EU ‘Have-nots’. They in theory had to meet the ‘right to reside’ and qualifying three month’s residence rules first, and would have been directed elsewhere.

Unfortunately Greyling is probably the most incompetent Minister (except May) that we have ever had, and it would be difficult to find a Minister with opposite views who balances his degree of lazy incompetence.

Richard, I do not disagree that something needs to be done to engender a work ethic in the population. That has to start while people are young, but unfortunately the sorts of jobs that kids can do no longer exist in this age, and Health & Safety rules out many part-time jobs. You cannot even employ a youth as a part-time window cleaner without first sending them on a ladder training course. That however is a different problem and one which no Government has so far addressed.

Where I had difficulties with VFM’s post is that a lot of people at the Food Bank are not lazy, but are in the main victims of circumstance or  ignorance.

The Benefit/Tax system is a mine-field for even intelligent well-briefed people. Universal Credit should have solved a lot of the problems but its implementation in which there was a mandatory 5 week delay in handing out cash caused huge poverty problems to those without savings. When my wife worked at the CAB she would come home sobbing on many evenings as she found it hard to deal with the misery that the Benefit System had inflicted on innocent people (e.g. a partner walks out, a death, job loss or other unforeseen disaster, gambling by partner and ignorance in managing a household budget etc).

Yes there are those that should be put in forced-labour squads, but the surprising majority do not like having to take charity.

@VFM I think you are being over-sensitive. You stated that my post, which contained the following was insulting:

“No need to lose your cool, we all understand that Moggites are under enormous stress trying to rationalise their continual spinning and turning in their efforts to find ways of dealing with uncomfortable facts and realities!”

I challenge you to find one insult in it, unless you consider being classified as a Moggite is insulting.(but perhaps you have a point – I would certainly feel insulted).

I consider the statement on Moggite spinning and turning to be accurate – maybe not you personally but certainly Mogg and Bojo have been doing their share.

“Now that that flood of migration has begun to slow wages are rising.”

This assertion is proven fallacious by the latest figures. Net migration into the UK is actually up.

I will however grant that fear of Brexit is playing a role in increasing wages. Recent TV interviews with management in small manufacturing companies generally state that they are having to pay their EU workers more in order not to lose them, and that has a knock-on into the general workforce.

Turkeys do not vote for Christmas, so yes I agree. We had a faint chance in the run-up to the Coalition Government but I’m afraid it was blown by the LibDems despite having the most to gain.

Ehem – check the latest migration figures. EU migration down but non-EU migration  at an all-time record high

EU down 61000 (mainly eastern bloc), non-EU UP 130000.

Not quite in line with your assertions.

“Can’t we just start by having National borders instead of letting more Have-Nots move in? Christ we’ve enough of our own Have-Nots visiting food banks.”

You probably should rethink that crass statement especially if said as an attempted ‘joke’.

Even the Conservative Government now appreciates it was their carp implementation of changes to the social security system that has forced hundreds of thousands onto the poverty line and into reliance on charity.

It would not surprise me in the least if Chris Greyling had played an interfering hand in the design of this debacle when he was Minister of State for Work & Pensions. It just has his touch of total inattention to detail and ineptness!

I had previously said earlier that there had been little impact so far from the threat of Brexit as no-one knew what form it would take. the recent trend in Long Term Unemployment up by 10% (1.0 to 1.1) is a better reflection of people being unable to find work or being forced into early retirement.

You were referring to trend lines which are quite something else and subject to huge political distortion based on starting and ending points, and do not reflect the current growing uncertainty in the country.

Taking another marker that Brexiteers find uncomfortable, Business Confidence is currently down to a nearly unprecedented negative 23 and if you want a trend line it drops almost linearly  from +13 at the start of 2018. This is probably the best proxy for job availability as it reflects the confidence with which businesses will invest and grow new jobs. It is also almost a *linear fall from the pre-Brexit position! link

*if you exclude the actual referendum period outlier.

The lighting, modelling  and textures are excellent.

My one criticism is that the floor is too clean, although it appears you have used some sort of ‘grime’ shader on it it is a tiny bit ‘regular’ and without a rationale. Some litter objects sweet wrappings, dust, or fag ends would perhaps have added to the atmosphere and lifted it into the first class position.

However, I suppose I’m visualising the Snooker Rooms of my youth in the Working Man’s Club with floors covered in an unhygienic  mix of spilled beer , cigarette ash and stubbed out fag ends, and the atmosphere tinged blue with tobacco smoke.

Sorry for perhaps being overly harsh, but I guess I most like renders that imply some sort of back story.

@VFM the normal convention in  a forum is that a comment addressed to @ed1p etc is primarily meant for that person’s response and anything then addressed in the round is mere rhetoric, which may or may not get a comment from someone else.

No need to lose your cool, we all understand that Moggites are under enormous stress trying to rationalise their continual spinning and turning in their efforts to find ways of dealing with uncomfortable facts and realities!

BTW I felt no need to respond on PR as I had previously made my views on our broken democracy perfectly plain to the extent that you actually said that you agreed with that process.

My old Physic’s teacher was the Radar Officer on the Illustrious. He too would not talk much about it except to insist that everyone be able to derive all physics formulae from just a few first principles. . His rationale was that one day you might find yourself in a place with no reference books, and nothing that is in the text book. I suspect that he had to do a lot of jury-rigging during his war years!

It was however a fairly cruel method in that it favoured those who could think on their feet – the weak went to the wall.

Actually if you look at the less easily fiddled Long Term Unemployment figures the trend is now on the upslope.

You then addressed a post to me, and included general rhetoric to which you did not want a reply, but then complained that I had not replied.
