PS Just had a thought, your A3 printer is not the cheapest one on the block, have you ever thought about sending it back to Canon for a service / clean – probably cheaper than buying a new one.

Hi John,

In the past when I have suffered this problem, AND if it is accessible in any way I either gave the paper uptake roller a good clean with water or if really accessible a small wire brush on the rubber to roughen it up a very SMALL amount. Generally it’s gunk on the roller that causes the problem, and this might also be the cause of it being taken in at an angle.

I have both a Epson Workforce and Epson Photo 1400 printers as well as a Canon MX7600 and Brother HL-L2300D printers – I generally only need to print off legal papers – sometimes by the 100s – so quality of ink on the paper is not really an issue as long as it is legible. The 1400 under OCP ink does give good results but probably not as good as Epson carts – but then I don’t really need it and if I have to produce albums of exhibit photographs a quick trip to Tesco is cheaper.

Strange – a friend had a similar problem with non-oem cartridges – so he called me. Seemed that he had some faulty cartridges as none could be seen by the printer – another Epson jobbie. He rang the company he purchased them from and when asked he said that the cartridges had been awaiting use for 12 months – the company replaced them for him with a comment that Epson had recently changed either the ‘software’ or the small PCBs to the rear of the cartridges and ones that had worked perfectly would now no longer work.

Thanks Dave, I purchased these non oems in Nov 2016 and the cyan fails recognition by the printer, seem to remember after the last driver update before Nov 2016 something similar happened – could be just coincidence!

Thanks PM, downloaded WMM but it turns out to be in German and most of it fails to work – anyone with any other ideas – it doesn’t necessarily have to be free software – willing to pay a bit to do it.

Any recommendations at all?

I saw this a few weeks ago and it is very impressive, that said it is a set of cameos from the evacuation – but it does show to all ‘the hell that it was’. The computer graphics are very good apart for the Spitfire/Hurricane in the last few minutes – out of fuel it takes on some Stukas, flies around and eventually lands on the sands about 10 minutes later.

Overall well worth seeing.

To all of my friends here – just a short post to say thank you very much for the input on this topic. I was able to download and record the programme they wanted yesterday evening and all seems to be 100% – just might  need to edit it a bit to get rid of the dross (all of it as far as I am concerned – but then I’ll never go to Welsh Heaven – too lonely!!).

Bob whilst I don’t disagree with your reasoning – but how the heck does the manufacturer know if the original owner has over used or abused it?

Just remember that ‘used car salesmen’ and ‘politicians’ have a great deal in common – if their mouths are moving, they’re lying! That’s my experience.
