But again vote share vs seats shows that first past the post is broken.
I wonder how many people vote tactically for precisely that reason – I know I’m one of them and I’m not a fan of voting for a party that I don’t really like (even though in this instance, their policies I thought were reasonable).

I still have my Picanto – 65 reg one and it’s decent enough. I’ve the SE version as well (from what I remember) and it’s been good. Only a 1L though but does the job. Auto lights is good, the Kia has that.
I do have to ring Kia about getting out of the PCP early though as I test drove a Golf GTE today – as part of my work, they provide a car. Downside is, I only have a single car parking space so I’ll have to get rid of the Kia. Mind, I’ll have no use for two cars at that point as the missus doesn’t drive one. The GTE is an automatic which is very different to what I’m used to!

Yeah had some in Manchester today with BT, but that was because I had unplugged my Pi and therefore DNS lookups weren’t working nicely. ?

This goes back to almost five years. I used to work at Kings Cross – in fact, I worked for the firm that was the first to move into the new offices at Kings Cross. The Google development office was beneath ours and they went through a number of iterations. We obviously tried to get in with them at the time as Mechanical and Electrical engineers but I don’t know how that worked out.
Now I’m in Manchester so it doesn’t matter ?

Paid £3.99 for a Pro code on eBay, followed those instructions from MS and an just under an hour later I had Microsoft Pro installed and was encrypting the hard drive with Bitlocker :good:

I don’t see that as a downside – I use a lot of Anker products and I’m impressed with it all. Anker is a brand is pretty good.
Besides, I associate it with Anchor more than the expletive you’re considering!

Windows 10 has split the path onto multiple lines. Just add it on the next line down and you should be fine. You may need to logout and login again (or restart), just so the path can be reread.

You can’t upgrade to Pro, it’s a complete reinstallation.
Microsoft suggests otheriwse?
Either way, once I start the machine and activate Windows 10 Home, my understanding is that I’ll be able to install Windows 10 Pro using a key and if it doesn’t work, then I can reinstall Windows 10 Home and it’ll pick up the digital entitlement anyhow?

Don’t get me wrong, there are some really good programs on macOS – Ulysses I use a lot, though it seems that the list of macOS software I use exclusively is getting less. I do prefer Pages to Word though for general day to day use and for some things, I find Numbers better than Excel (my personal finance spreadsheet for example where I have multiple table dotted around not following the standard grid layout, such as in the attached).
Any ideas on the best method to upgrade to Windows Pro if the laptop has the TPM? Could I buy something like this and enter it as an upgrade code? Or involve a whole reinstall of Windows?

I think direct from Apple it’s £900 or so for the base model of the Air and then £1200 starting for the MacBook.
I am a fan of the Apple, but I think Windows is needed at the minute really. The Mac versions of Word/Excel are OK and seem to do while, but I have come across some minor niggles where document templates don’t work 100%.
We’ll see how this Lenovo works out anyhow :good:

I went via the Lenovo site and managed to pick up the Ideapad 710S which looks to tick all my boxes. Looking at the website now however, it says Sold Out, so I’m hoping it went through fine.
Only thing at it I might like to improve is running Windows 10 Pro instead so I can install Bitlocker on the machine and have it encrypted for travelling. I best check when it arrives though that it’s got a TPM, though from a quick google and looking here, it appears it doesn’t so I can wont be able to do full disk encryption.

The budget played second fiddle to actually getting the right laptop in this case I think.
That HP you linked puts me off as it’s an Atom CPU and eMMc storage – both of which my HP Stream 11 has and concerns me. The PC is slow – and something may be the bottle neck or the whole might just be treacle. Either way, willing to pay more for the right one I.e. One that will last for a while, be lightweight ish but small and compact.
I notice that SaveOnLaptops have a Thinkpad in and a pricer ones with more RAM and storage space that might well be a contender as the X220 is good but is one it’s way out now

I’ve become a fan of Settlers of Catan and I also play Carcossone. Catan is probably more educational, but both are good fun.

I think the Firefox mobile browser is still very good, and its the main thing the keeps me using the desktop version (which I find is getting slower and fussier year on year)
They’ve just announced a new campaign to get people to use it – link. I must admit, I was a fan, but Chrome does syncing much better and is the sole reason I keep it around as the built in Firefox one is pretty poor I’ve found in the past. I keep Firefox around because it runs some plugins that aren’t on Chrome which I use regularly (Zotero being the main one, which I use almost daily at work).
RSB – glad you’re getting on with it. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m running Android now as well. Well, I’ve not abandoned the walled garden of Apple but I now have to carry two phones for work – the work one is an iPhone 7, so I got myself a Moto G5 Plus 😉 The launchers are a hidden gem. I’ve switched to Nova myself, partly because I’ve used it in the past. It’s almost identical to the stock Moto launcher, but when I open a folder/stack of apps, the background of the folder is not transparent now, so I can actually see what I’m bloody clicking on! I had seen Arrow somewhere recently – might have to have a play, especially as changing the launcher doesn’t delete the settings of the previous one so you can easily switch back.

Can you not? Not something I’ve done in a while. I use to do it though there legacy page, picasa. I just put a link to a pic these days, so I misses the non embed thing.
I stand corrected. It was purely from the point of view that Flickr offers embed codes in BBCODE, whereas I couldn’t see that on Google Photos. Might depend on the forum software I guess.
However, as this is about the only forum I use these days, I guess Google Photos would do the job!

Or Google photos. If you don’t want your real name attched to the photos, open a new account just for your share photos. You have a 15gb storage, but any pictures under 16mp don’t count towards your allowance, so it’s basically unlimited. I like Flickr too that has 1Tb allowance , never liked photo bucket, never used it, but when people post from it I always find it slow to view.
However, with Google Photos, you can’t embed the image into a forum post like the OP wanted though can you? You can with Flickr though.

Was up early so did the shot of the Magic Roundabout. https://kuula.co/post/7lm1j
A bit more attractive than the Magic Roundabout I used to have to use (or avoid).

I think Drezha was thinking of DONATING surplus access. I never consider I am stealing access if I use an open wifi link, neither do I abuse it as bandwidth is in any case restricted.
Yeah – I would find it amusing. However, the only reason I’d consider it is because it’s almost copy and paste – I wouldn’t do it myself from scratch. And I can’t do it anyhow, as my router doesn’t have a guest network, so it’s on the “I’d find it amusing” list but to much effort.

Unless I’m away for work at a meeting, I should be there as well as I work near the convention centre.
I can’t help with finding a good curry place though as I’ve only just got here!

I dunno – I’m temped to to try and add an open network and then install Upside-Down-Ternet.
I think if it was just me, then I might change the internet over, but dealing with the fallout after I change it once the girlfriend has connected means it’s easier to leave it as it is  That, and I forget how many devices connect to the Wi-Fi and need setting up again!
I’ve not checked the local wifi to see what channels people are on – the wifi seems to work OK on our phones etc so I’ve not yet needed to investigate speeds.
