Another recommendation for Fuelio. Not sure what it’ll be like when I get my GTE Golf (which is apparently in the factory in the minute) as I don’t know how easy it’ll be to factor in the electric charging items.

If you want to ask ‘intelligent’ questions try Quora.

I was thinking more along the lines of Stack Exchange (for maths, it would be Maths Stack Exchange). This has the benefit of not requiring users to log in to view the response (unless Quora has stopped that now).

New version of Hyper Backup seems to have solved the issue, so that’s handy.

If it’s permissions, I’m just trying to figure out how that effects Dropbox backups as I didn’t think that had permissions. I’ll give it a try when I get back from Devon today.

Well, at least that perhaps explains it then. Looks like I may create a new backup and hope that works. Bit of a pain for the offsite backup as that’s created over a number of days to prevent slowdowns at home. It’ll be a pain when my remote one at my girlfriends paretns is updated, as I’ve set there’s to back up to mine and they have limited internet 🙁

posting the screenshot above, looks like I need to sort out the SSL settings as well!

I’ve the G5 Plus and it’s decent for all I need.

Recently had issues with the camera app keeps restarting for some reason but I’ve not restarted the phone recently but other than that, I’ve had no issues with it at all.

With phones and cameras capable of high quality and large file sizes, I would have thought a better integration would exist. It seems to be something that’s slipping through the net ( pun intended ) needing a workaround/conversion to get the job done.

I don’t know what the difference is with the iOS and Android compression algrothims, but the iPhone has always saved JPG images are a far smaller size than any Android phone I’ve used and for similar megapixel images. Talking like 150% larger (1.8Mb for an iPhone image, 5Mb for an Android one for whatever reason),.

Gmail can send and recieve up to 50Mb files. However, your receiver has to accept large attachments and most people I deal with at work can only accept 20Mb (not sure if that is an Exchange default mind).

Can you print the JPG’s to PDF? Windows 10 has a PDF printer built in.

If it’s Windows 10 Home, you don’t have an option not to install them I believe.

I think the only way to prevent it is to set your home internet connection as a metered connection.

I set up a unique gmail address for every customers Synology box and have that send the updates (daily backup, monthly health report, update notifications and any urgent issues) to me and them. None of them have missed a beat yet (neither have the NAS). I can’t remember logging into any of the gmail accounts after day one but I have my email address as the recovery address for them all just in case. For my own NAS I’ve also paired my phone to receive any status changes or errors.

That’s a handy idea – might well do that.

I had been considering trying my hand at a new Gmail account anyhow – one that is a bit more friendly for giving out that my username here but it’s hassle moving email (as I found out with the Fastmail one – it ended up really only being a front end for my Gmail) really!

Yeah, I’ve been using it a good while (since v1.4). It’s like Chrome, but with more functionality. Only major downside I’ve seen is that it has no bookmark sync function, but it can use the Chrome Extensions, so I downloaded Xmarks and I’m away.

Not seen the autoplay video killed yet but it looks like that’s WIP. They do have a function to disable audio in non active tabs as well, which may be handy.

I’m looking at these for our modelling machines. We’ve a couple of big Intel machines – the 12 core Xeon’s I think. Old place had the dual Xeon’s for a total of 24 real cores. Maybe these will improve the speeds.

Will keep an eye on when PC Specialist get them in, as that’s where we seem to get the rest of our kit from.

Nothing like Bitcoin really – it’s essentially like getting a gift voucher for Christmas (or book token – I used to get loads of those).

I doubt it’s anything to do with the cards, and more to do with the fact that electronic distribution makes life a lot easier to purchase new games. Even back when it first started and it was only really Half Life and other Steam games on there, the distribution of the DVD’s was only so that you didn’t have to download the whole game from scratch. Then came day one patches and it made less sense to ship DVD’s – you might as well just download the game straight from them. And Steam doesn’t close, whereas the high street shops do.

I imagine Origin and uPlay are already there – I can’t imagine Battlefield was anything over than a gift card for a download.

I use online mail on Linux as I’ve only a 60GB SSD and that’s 50% full with the install and pictures/documents. I suppose I could symlink the data folder to elsewhere but on Fastmail seems reasonable enough.

Yeah reasonably common these days. I went into Game the other day, and I don’t think that there was any physical copies of PC games, it was all Steam keys.

Hopefully Chris, someday you will be in a long-term relationship, or married, and living in a house. At some point inside a couple of decades, you will have felt the need and installed a Man Cave. Trust me…?

In the process of buying a house and it has a shed and there’s a nice extension that was a play room and has already been earmarked as a man cave 😉

Drezha, never had a shed? A Man Cave can be a necessity in times of domestic friction! ??

Having only lived in my parents house and then flats (either rented or purchased) or on the rare occasion, a rented house (but with sufficient storage inside for bikes) I’ve never required one!

Slightly off topic – I use a solar panel to run a 250mm 12v fan in my shed. The brighter the sun shines the faster the fan goes. Saves £s off my electric bill.

Random question (considering I’ve never owned one), why does the shed need a fan?

My worst memory was at each of the 10mile check points they would make you drink warm orange juice (some type of powers crap with salts etc in) and two bananas. As you will know when your tired, eating is the last thing you want to do. Also i hate orange juice and bananas.

Was it screech? They still put that in the rat packs – the kids love it. Just like sherbet if you eat it from the pack without diluting it!

On a side night, reminds me of the Royal Marine officers rat pack video…
