I’ve just switched to British Gas for the new house and a requirement of the tariff is to get a smart meter installed. I was going to get one anyhow, but this helped.
Can I switch to an Energy 7 meter at the same time? Would be good to switch to lower energy tariffs overnight, as then I could charge my car up then, rather than during the day. Think I can set the timer within the car itself to do that, but did set it up last night using my TP-Link plug (wont be an option when my charging point is added to the house next week mind).

Got an Echo coming in the post, collecting it tomorrow. Got it free when I bought my Hive thermostat this week (British Gas installing that on the 27th, so we’ll see how that goes!)

Have downloaded on Windows and am giving it a good run.
Looks like you’re right. It’s quite nippy, better than it has been, so that’s good to see. New theme is quite nice and has the default font changed? Seems a bit different to what it was previously.
Nice to see the spell check works as well, unlike Chrome which seems to struggle recently!

Scared the crap out of me when I first saw it! Thought it was a red bug going up the screen until I saw it explode!

Must admit, I’d used it to update the machines at the cadet unit to 10.

Plugin updates sounds promising.
Manually copying and pasting isn’t the end of the world – I’ve taken to using Keepass recently anyhow. Lack of autofill isn’t a huge issue. However, I was looking at Enpass. I was a keen user of 1Password, but it’s switched to a subscription based model and it’s pricer than Lastpass.

I’ve got a M262x 282x Series (forget the exact model) laser with duplex. It replaced an earlier version of the one Nolan’s bought. Hopefully it will last as long because I hate HP consumer printers. Too much bloat and now trying to flog you ink / toner direct to your desktop.
We’ve got this one at cadets and it’s going fairly well. Just set it up this week on the Raspberry Pi to act as a print server as it isn’t wifi connected (as far as I’m aware).

Oo a proper pair of rants
Hope it gets solved.
Don’t do half-hearted moans, neither does Chris apparently! A neat monitoring diagram Chris, btw.
Nothing that fancy Bob! Just a graph knocked up in LibreOffice using data from a CSV file. The Speedtest results have been recorded with speedtest-cli which uses the same servers as the Speedtest website and records the output into the CSV file. All I did was set up a cron job to record it every 4 hours.

My concern is that the newer versions of Firefox are leaving older versions of plugins in the past which is a shame. Not come across one not working yet, but it’s warning me that I’ve got outdated plugins.
One of the issues I have is sync – I’ve had a couple of issues with FF Sync in the past. Might give it another go, as I was using the Xmarks and that was causing issues as well (possibly because at some point I was using Vivaldi). Maybe time for another go.

I know your pain. Today I ended up having to call Talk Talk again.
We had fibre installed at cadets not to long ago – getting 55 Mbps download and guaranteed minimum is 44 Mbps.
I’ve had a Pi monitoring it, just out of interest (as I’ve got it setup there as a file server), so as it was always on, it made sense.

Well, it was barely usable last night, so complaint day today! They’ve now got 14 days to fix it, before we move away from them. For free, as per their terms and conditions. They say that it has a “line fault” so we’ll see what they come up with.
This is the firm that thought they were supplying an address over 10 miles away from the actual supply address. ? (which is why we’re still with them and not someone else).

Digging this up from the not so distant past.
Did anyone have the energy monitoring TP Link one? If so, would it be possible to send me a screenshot of it showing the energy usage on the app? Does the monitor restart when the plug is turned on and off?
My new motor has arrived and I’m looking at recording the energy I charge it up with to get an idea of cost so I’m looking at either the Elgato Eve or the TP Link one (though a standard energy monitor would also probably work, but I have to check it can cope with the 2kW draw through the plug that the charging will draw). I’m not splashing out on a full outside charging station just yet, as it’s a hybrid car, not a full blown electric one. So at the minute, a large extension lead out through the window or letterbox will be the order of the day.

Thinking the same about the latest Dawn of War game. Bought it in the sale last weekend. Which was the whole reason I upgraded to a nVidia 1050 about three months ago but I didn’t pay full whack for it and now I think I’m relatively glad that’s the case.
However, I did buy Tooth and Tail in the latest Steam sale and first impressions are that’s it’s quite a well thought out indie game. Enjoying it so far anyhow – slightly different take on the RTS genre.

In terms of Maplins, I think I’ve used them more over the past six months than I have in the last six years! Been able to jump in and get some items I’ve needed such as a Pi for short notice projects.
In terms of M+S – first port of call for underwear and work trousers. Shirts usually come from TM Lewin now as they do a four for £100 deal. Which seems a lot but I had a good 5 years our of the previous ones!

RSB – that looks like it could be worth a good night out!

Bob – here’s why as explained by Dara O’Briain 😉

The Amazon Prime app is due soon for the Apple TV, which I think would then do all you need (though I’ve not tried the Now app on it).
Once it gets Prime, I’ll probably sign up for Prime again, as I currently don’t have it cos it’s not on Apple TV.

Well, cycling home was fun. Likewise, cadets was cancelled on the recommendation of the Wing, so I’ve the evening at home!

Better hold off for another hour or so, so that can cycle home!

I never trust a product that pivots to a free model on the consumer side of stuff. Usually means adds to support, and eventually death. Or rather not enough is paying to support the endeavor. If me [incert software] went form paid to free, that would be my que to start the search for its replacement. Free is fine, but dropping the paid option is never a good longterm sign.
Seems to work for FOSS 😉
At the minute, I just use Synology as my backup (i.e. sync to Synology and then back up to Dropbox and hard drive from there). I should look into getting my 3TB external back connected to my PC, but I thought it broke the other day and replaced it with an internal one, but I’ll need to check it.

Isn’t the dot thing an alias? Or is that the + sign? It allowed you to sign up to individual websites with a specific email address and then you’d be able to find the ones that either sold your email address or had been hacked.
When I was with Fastmail, it was included and that was websitename@name.email.address rather than name@email.address.
