Shouldn’t matter to much – you should be able to take the contract with you. I moved last year – took a contract out in May, moved in September.
Coming up to change it now – not sure if I’ll change mind, but it’s probably wise. Wont be Sky as I don’t want to use their router.

Indeed!
I’ve a Pi Zero W running Pi-Hole, a Pi Zero W in the kitchen along with a USB temperature sensor to track the temperature (coldest room in the house) and a Pi2 as a media centre.
I’ve not yet played with RetroPie, but might be worth a shot I guess! I’ve got two RPi3’s lying around at the minute.

It appears that many of these USB dongles do not need drivers or other software though others do. Does anyone know what decides how they ‘just work’ on different devices without user activity?
Some will have the drivers built in to Windows. It’s down to the manufacturer as to if it’s supported without seperate drivers from the manufacturer.

Ah it was the Google Drive/Photos trick I was missing. I’ve got Cloud Sync syncing my Work and Personal Dropbox accounts and use that fairly successfully.

I have a one way Cloud Sync job set up to synchronize my Google Photos to a folder on the Synology. I then copy over those I want to keep into Photo Station Albums. .
I didn’t know Google Photos would sync like that. I’ve just been using DS Photo on my phone to automatically upload the images to the NAS. Mind, I also have them upload to Dropbox and then have my Mac move them into my pictures folder. I went for the slightly pricer DS116 but it performs extremely well. I’ve also got one at my fiancée’s house in Ireland that backs up their computer and photos. I’ve also paid for the Synology storage, so both the one there and mine backup to that.
Third party apps support mean that I use Resilo Sync to sync between devices, rather than the Synology Sync program. Partly because it’s tried and tested by myself and partly because it’s peer to peer, I get speed ups on transferring data when needed with more peers online.
In terms of Onedrive, I have this for work, but use the work Dropbox account instead!

I’m waiting for the cadet units to role out the proposed new communication tool – one of the Wings in the Northern region has been trialling this software and I believe it’ll be rolled out to all squadrons now across the Corps. Once that happens, I can leave Facebook behind. At the minute, it’s just to handy for keeping cadets and parents informed on what’s happening on the squadron.

I’ll have to give it a watch.
Watched John Wick at the weekend and was impressed with that.

13 inch screen then she decided weight and the i/o (keyboard feel, mouse pad function and or touch screen were) the most important elements. In the end she settled on a Lenova MIIX that was on special (not at PCWorld), and loves its pad/laptop functionality.
I wish someone would mention this to the corporate world. Got given a monster 15″ laptop that I’m expected to use on the train when I’m travelling.
No chance – I use my personal much smaller, half the weight, Lenovo 710S. Doesn’t give me back ache lugging it around London and will fit (just about) on the tables on the train if I don’t get a table seat.

I worked for an ex public service that was now private. I left after a year (in reality, I would have left earlier, but I was using the time to try and join the RAF) because I couldn’t get on with the public service mentality that still pervaded (and the union – I’ve never come across a union in an engineering firm elsewhere before ever!).
Maybe it was a good idea I didn’t get in to the RAF!

Sorry to hear it’s bad news – wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery!

The message should be dinned into all of us, by media ads and posters, to be aware that we are in what is tantamount to a war situation. There are people who want to maim and kill as many of us as possible and their weapon of choice is currently a vehicle, preferably a heavy one. Possibly accompanied by explosives. The attitude of “It cannot happen here” is wrong: it can. There are so many different groups that wish to cause harm in the name of their Cause, add to those the simply bonkers groups who have convinced and deluded themselves that society is doing something, or allowing something to be done, that they don’t like. No. I’m not paranoid, I’m being realistic.
As a cyclist, I agree with this statement. However, we just call them “drivers”.

I use Bitlocker daily, but it wont help you in this case as it encrypts the drive, not a folder. I use to encrypt my USB sticks. Generally needs a TPM module in the PC, my gaming machines at home don’t have them but my work laptop and my personal laptop do.
Alterantive is to encrypt the files with something like Cryptomater or Boxcryptor.

Interesting – we might look in to getting that one then as it’s cheaper than the one we have! We could also do with another one in one of our other rooms so I might well get it.

That’s it – Smart Meter does all the calcs and graphs for me with only me having to put the meter readings in (which I have to read anyhow). I’ve not managed to find one, so I’ll stick with Smart Meters (just on the iPad, not the phone).
Fuelio is excellent, but useless for me now, as I’ve the hybrid. It doesn’t handle that well at all, because I can use power and fuel at the same time and it assumes that you’ll only use one or the other. So the data is gives isn’t accurate anymore, which is a shame because it was a really good app.

It doesn’t read the meter itself, I still have to do that. I want to track my usage throughout the year (and if it allows me to set a fee per unit, I can see if the costs that British Gas are telling me are reasonably correct).

Well, according to phone comparison, it’s about the same size as my iPhone Plus was, so I assuming I may be OK on that front. The fingerprint on the back might be an issue but we’ll probably get used to that!
Ordered a Spigen case (and some USB C cables) from Amazon – they’ll probably get here about the same time as the phone (didn’t do Prime this time, I can wait and I got a £1 voucher for Music or Kindle books – I wouldn’t have bothered if it was the pantry voucher)

Full fat – the 128GB, 8GB RAM one. For £50 extra, it seemed like the extra space would be worth it. After all, the iPhone was 128GB and that seemed to serve me well (must remember to turn off auto backup of APK’s this time around – I had that enabled with Super Backup and Restore and it ended up filling my old Moto!)

Back on the original subject, I’m waiting for my 5T to arrive. No such luck here for £70 off that PM had, so full price for me.
But my darling iPhone has been playing up – locking up, becoming unpresonsive and crashing and I’ve no idea why. It’s getting a wipe and a trip back to the Apple store if that doesn’t work. Aim would be to then flog it.

Does any know of a decent app to track meter readings? I’ve been using Meters on iOS and I can’t seem to find a decent Android equal. The closest I’ve seen is Smart Meters, which I’m trialling.

I’m interested but as a sign of how behind the times I am, I’ve just started playing Just Cause 2 – open world game and I can cause chaos, in fact, it’s part of the game progression! Reminds me of the old Mercenaries game on the PSX and Xbox that I enjoyed.
I’ve also got Destiny 2 to wade through as well, the whole reason I upgraded my PC! And I recently picked up the remastered copy of Starcraft which was great fun.
And to mention picking up Into The Breach and then working my way through Grim Dawn.
Maybe I should spend less time browsing on here and playing games instead!?
EDIT: Forum still doesn’t want to check my spelling on Firefox, but works fine on Chrome ಠ_ಠ
