I’ve had a MacBook Pro and the new keyboard is awful, I don’t like it at all. Work bought me a Lenovo 2 in 1 and that’s pretty good. Not used it as a tablet mind as it’s to heavy for that .

Yeah, the SE is the smaller one. I had one for a bit, before I went big and got the Plus… Bit of a difference!

I wouldn’t have said the underlying OS has changed much on iOS. I’ve been using both now since about iOS 3 I guess. And I’ve drifted away from Apple – only device I have from Apple now that see use everyday is my iPad Pro and that’s because I love the pencil. Use the iPad regularly on site visits using Site Audit Pro (though that now has an Android app) and Notability with the Apple Pencil as it auto exports notes to PDF for me so I can save them in my project folders as well.

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>Well they’ve already done the 64Gb thing as that’s now the default I believe. Pretty sure that’s what happened when the other half got her 8.</p>

And I believe its actually a 7S not 7. But that’s almost identical!

iPhone 7, brand new when I started last May. The Pocophone I have is 128Gb with 64Gb. I could fit all my music on the 128Gb microSD if I got one for it just about.

I’m coming around to using Google or A.N.Other cloud service for backing up photos as well, cos at the end of the day, they’re the biggest memories that could be lost.

Duke, it’s a new build, that’s just the concrete frame. One of the jobs I’m on at the minute. Link But yeah it’s a fairly big miss.

Photos (the Apple version) did the same the other day for one with my missus.

Must admit I’ve not got much on Google Photos, mainly my work phone uploads to it, as that’s a 16GB iPhone, so I’ve not a lot of space on it! All of mine goes across to my Synology.

It’s not just Google that needs help – there’s no photo there ?

Link to image works for me? Both signed in to and signed out of Google.

Doesn’t work for me either. It just gives a “thumbnail of albums” type view. Eight pictures labelled screenshots, sky, bikes, mountains, skylines, cars, bridges, food. Maybe it’s auto-logging you in. Try it from an ‘incognito’ window.

That’s the image… I took a screenshot of the gallery section.

If you look closely, it’s not a bike that’s labelled under bikes…

Biggest issue I’ve run in to is the Android Auto support. It doesn’t work properly. Black bars at the top and bottom of the screen and can’t control anything. With the driving I have to do for work at the minute, I can’t have that. Could use my work iPhone I guess but just in general, not being able to use Auto is a pain.

At this rate I should just stump up for a Pixel as the default Android isn’t bad as I really like the Moto G6 but was looking for a bit more ommph. Maybe its still got life in it yet!

Laptops Direct, as per you link. Mine said it was the Global Version from a sticker on the side of the case. I was offered three themes I think but all MIUI. I also can’t find Face Unlock, but I’m updating the phone now to see if that helps.

The grey bar is like this. I know that’s an old app, so might not switch. It was also happening in Pocket Casts which is newer. Navbar seems to have been stopped by the battery optimisations, so I’ve deleted it as it didn’t seem to do much help anyhow!

I’ll see what the latest update manages to achieve.

I took the plunge and ordered one. Been setting it up this morning. First major niggle is Miui – sorted to a degree by installing Nova Launcher. Second, the navbar remains a horrible bright grey in any app, so I’ve installed Navbar.

I’ll see how things play out, but seems OK so far. Smaller than my Moto G6 Plus but a larger screen which takes a getting used! Likewise, a fingerprint sensor on the rear. We’ll see how things go.

No worries. Reading some reviews and it seems to be a good deal.

Any test shots of the camera? GSM Arena seems to show this as being a step up from my Moto G6 Plus.

Not that anyone will really check until you come to sell the properties, but it might not be wise drilling through a fire wall between the houses…

Doesn’t Parkers show the insurance band? It certainly used to but I’ve not checked for years.

7 days for a new card? Wow.

Monzo will have me one within two days, and I can still use Apple Pay on the app without the card. And I can put the card on hold there myself.

Digging this up as I recalled something above – about the Pi Zero being booted from USB and OTG cable. However, I was Googling yesterday and I couldn’t see anything that suggested the Pi Zero was USB boot compatible.

I was looking at getting one for the new cadet unit for Pi Hole duties, as they’re on a 4G connection. However, wanted to boot from USB but it appears they still need a microSD card with bits on.

Turned the optimisations off, so we’ll see how we go and also turned off the AI.

Will have to perhaps have a longer play – at least my Amazon refund can be done until October 24th.

We’ll see how it goes, as the Huawei Ascend P1 was probably one of my favourite phones and had a cracking camera (in my eyes).

I splashed out for the P20 Pro from Amazon and I’ve been using it today.

It’ll be going back tomorrow I’m pretty sure. The battery optimisation on it is stupidly aggressive – to the extent that my smart watch loses connection more often than not – I can’t get notifications which is the entire reason I wear a smart watch (my phone remains on silent at all times and the watch alerts me). It also cuts out all my music programs when the screen locks off – Pocket Casts? Nope. Doubletwist? No chance. I have manually disabled battery optimisation for these programs, but I’ll have to do this for all new apps. I was listening to Headspace earlier and it cut that out.

The camera? I’ve done a couple of shots and so far it hasn’t seemed like it’s worth the £670. The colours seem a bit bright (the AI said I was shooting a sky) and it seems a bit bright. With some playing, I may well get on with it, but at the minute, £670 for a phone that is giving me issues on day one isn’t a good sign.

I’ll go back to my Moto G6 Plus. At least that works as I expect it to, even if the camera isn’t the greatest! Does the job at the minute I guess, and most of the time I’m also carrying an iPhone 7 (work phone) if I want to snap something better than the G6. Or I guess I should dig out my digital camera. Or try the Pocophone!
