Not of any help, but for future reference never ‘copy’ a Windows VM always ‘move’ it. The act of ‘copying’ tells Windows that it is a new setup,

How does that even work? Surely an identical copy (retaining the old VM ID) is just that, an identical copy. How would Windows know where or which drive the copy was on?

To answer Dave , switching to Win 10 is not an option. A. I have a license for Win 7, and B. I hate Win 10 with a passion (I have to use it at work, and every major update is practically a work day lost fixing what it breaks).

the Mate 20 pro doesn’t use standard SDCards (Huawei have designed their own proprietary one, which is not yet available), so nope, not on the SDCard. But if I check storage usage, I have 40Gb used, so they are in the internal storage somewhere, and not in Google’s cloud.

Anyone figured out where on earth the files are stored from a restore from the old phone? Want to copy more music over, but the music folder on the Mate is empty. They are there somewhere, just can’t find them.

I agree. Loving it at the moment, though I had to remember my Google admin account login to enable assistant.

The new screen ratio will take a little getting used to, though. My case should arrive tomorrow. Gone for the equivalent of the one on my P9, which I love.

the £30,000 is no longer a given. Legislation on termination payments has been changed, and whilst it’s likely that you’ll get the £30K, you need to check to be sure.

Pension may come with a lump sum and a pension. You can draw down up to 25% tax-free, or there’s a (little known) alternative, which lets you draw down multiple times, and get 25% of each tax-free. These only apply if you haven’t started to take the pension, yet.

You may be better speaking to an accountant than an FA.

I pre-ordered the same one on Friday – so hoping for the bundle package, too. I have an ETA of Friday, and since the offer is “While stocks last”, guess what I’ll be doing after Friday beers.

Oh, and I’m a Holo Launcher man myself, though I have the paid for version, which has a little more than the free one.

Can I just ask when /if such a matter is reported to the bank – do they give you tea and biscuits? A chair, a towel to dry your eyes? People should learn to look after their own property and not expect others to pick up the pieces. As your card hadn’t been used in any fraudulent activity – we would not have met hence the rest of your comments are pure speculation – even more so as you don’t even know me.

So would judge me for not having received mail? No amount of looking after my stuff would stop that. I truly pity you if that’s the height of your compassion.

You are very welcome. Better at your end being used than at mine in a box of spares.

As for the difference in speed between that and a USB device, it’s hardly surprising. The bandwidth over USB is limited, whereas bandwidth over PCI is much greater, and so I expect a PCI card to behave better.

Glad it sorted things out for you 🙂

@d-dan hope your cards turn up quick. I had a friend that only last week he found out, cis I got him online, that his ex has second card in his account he never knew about, and has been taking about about 500 a week since they spit in March. That’s going to be fun for him. To make it worse that was his only bank account, so when he cancelled all cards to the account, he has been with out access to his money for a week. (yourkshire bank). You may want to look at a Monzo account, for you daily spending life, it’s a real step forward for 21C banking. I can send you an invite if youre interested, so you can jump the que. This is why I should stay off the Internet when I can’t sleep. *sigh*. Sorry to anyone that read all that.

It wasn’t mine lost, it’s one I found and did my level best to return to the owner before it was cancelled leading to inconvenience and for both her and the bank. Unfotunately, the bank weren’t interested, and simply cancelled it.

Ironically, I’ve been awaiting a new card through the post, and it not having arrived, finally got on to my bank yesterday. Apparently it was posted on 7 September.

Fortunately, they checked and it hasn’t been used. I do wonder, however, if it has been (a criminal offence) how Dwynne would have handled that. With the same disregard for other’s misfortune when they lose something, despite me having no control over it? Or perhaps with some sympathy?

Not altogether sure why you even brought the police into this. I certainly didn’t, nor have I. I took my own time and expense to contact the issuing bank and handle it that way, and tonight, despite my being confident that the card has been cancelled (something I was trying to avoid for the owner’s sake), I took it to the local branch of the issuing bank and handed it over.

Now, had the card been found by someone else, let’s call them scum, and used, then a crime has been committed and the police would have more work on their hands, theoretically. The reality, of course, is that the police no longer care about petty crime unless they witness it, and then the book is thrown at the perpetrator. Meanwhile, less trivial crimes are ignored.

All of the time, we still pay our taxes for this so called protection.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticising the officers themselves. Their numbers have been decimated to a point that they can’t possibly do their job effectively, but such a dismissive attitude is just wrong.

And, of course, begs the question, would you be equally dismissive if it was your bank card (contactless) that was accidentally lost?

Update, and thanks, Dave. I now have three of those PoE splitters, working a treat. Pi4 is still using the PoE hat, but doesn’t need the USB, so no issue. Good call.

I can’t offer any further advice, my heart is about the only thing that works well. What I can do is send you my best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
