Tommy Robinson is a self-appointed spokesperson for Hate Crime UK. FB used to be full of these Right Wing organisations, spouting their poison and attracting all those who think “the immigrants are taking our jobs”. FB not carrying much of that pseudo-patriotic krap now, but you can bump into people with the same views anywhere in the UK. As today, when SWMBO and I visited a Notts beauty spot we always loved but have not seen for about 15 years. Walked halfway around the lake and met two people about our age, started a conversation which turned into a rant about Islam. I asked how many Muslims they knew, or had as neighbours: “Well, none.”
“Then how many have you met personally?” – “None” – So how can you judge those you know nothing about, have never met and never had a conversation with?”
They got up and left.

I'm out.I’m with WoF here: we have a FM aerial mounted on the TV mast and I plug our mains music box into that and my record deck. DAB is a no go here, as is 3 0r 4G reception (or any bloody G!) If it wasn’t for JayCeeDee sending me an EE magic box, I wouldn’t have mobile reception anywhere in the house or the village. As it is, we now get 4G via this wonderful box, according to my phone. Thanks, John!
The new Hyundai ix20 has only FM and also has a CD slot, besides USB and media. It has more outlets than M&S used to have. I discovered that if I have Radio 2, Radio 4, 5Live, BBC Radio Lincs and Classic, that’s all I need. Having a dozen stations that I cannot stand, just confuses me. I like FM and it is not going away anytime soon, despite what anyone else may tell you.

I'm out.I hated the old 50’s and 60’s sticky, slidey cheapo vinyl seats. But I also cannot stand real leather seats, I also stick to that in summer. I like fabric or, best of all, Alcantara, which is comfortable and seems warm in winter, cool in summer. I don’t know what the iX20 fabric is, but the seats are defo comfy.

I'm out.I don’t bank using the mobile or any other device than this desktop, or my missus’ laptop. I just don’t trust it and have no valid reason why. If we can’t bank online with the desktop or laptop, the very good branch is just a couple of miles away.

I'm out.I feel great sympathy for every Liverpool supporter, having supported a team in Europe that was robbed by a bent Spanish referee, bribed by the Anderlecht owners. That did not get proven until 13 years after Forest were well out of things, and the ref confessed in the face of growing evidence that even UEFA could not ignore, even though they tried hard to bury it.
We would have gone on to win the Final, I’m certain. Cloughie had built another great team, but over the next few years it all fell apart.
I have watched replays of Mo Salah in contact with Sergei Ramos, a much bigger player than Mo. He had several goes at Mo, as did other Real players: it was obvious that they wanted Liverpool’s best player stopped. For that last “tackle”, Ramos trapped Mo’s arm between his and fell on it, pulling it back. Watch that replay: it was a clear, dangerous foul and it caused the dislocation. Having played and seen similar injuries, I knew immediately what had happened. Ramos should have been off the pitch. When Mo went off, it destroyed the rhythm of the front 3 and Real grew in confidence. It proved one thing: Lallana is not what he was and Jürgen needs to buy a goalkeeper and a very good utility front man for when any one of Salah, Mane or Firmino are injured. It’s true that Real eventually became the better team, but only after Mo went off and Karius made those mistakes. For the first part of the first half, Real were penned in their own half. Then in the second half was the Bale wonder goal. And somebody should have advised Karius not to try to palm away a Bale shot: he hits them hard, although often they go over the bar.
I believe that the team will be back in Europe next season if they stay together, better and more experienced. Certainly the young players were not overwhelmed.

I'm out.Beaten by a Welshman and two goalkeeping howlers, yes they do need a goalie. When the talisman went off injured, I sort of knew it was all over.
The only consolation was that the best-ever goal in the Champions League Final, was scored by a Welshman. What a terrific, athletic goal, just when Liverpool were beginning to look like they were getting back into it. For me, the most dangerous player on the pitch, was Marcello on the left wing. No Liverpool player picked him up, throughout the game, but there he was on the left touchline, just waiting for the ball. Then a run and a brilliant, penetrating pass or cross.

I'm out.Adding a postscript here Re: hospital parking: when I attended chemo pre assessment on Wednesday, I was given a form for free parking, completed and handed to the Security window, with my Reg plate on it. The Security guy said that I could just drive out now, as the camera would pick up my plate. No it did not: I was left at the barrier, pressed the intercom, had to wait 15 minutes with cars queued behind me. As there were two gates and I had my hazard flashers on, the cars behind me were driven by Muppets who could not discern the obvious. the more intelligent ones were driving out through the second gate. Eventually we were freed.

I'm out.I never forget the first time I followed my Family History research to North Wales. I wound up in Corris, between Machynlleth and Dolgellau. Hearing my wife and myself speaking English was the cue for everyone around us to converse in Welsh. (When some had previously been speaking English) I didn’t allow it to bother me, but told one person that I was researching family history and trying to trace ancestors: Williams on my side, Griffiths on my wife’s. Instant friendship! They took me to a house where the last Williams there had passed away. Unfortunately, although he had been related to an ancestor, he died childless, having been married to a Jones.
Not to be outdone, the same person took me to the churchyard where both had been buried and showed me the grave. “Very well respected in the village, you see, very popular they were.” The male in the grave was named William Robert and I am Robert William. I couldn’t help a goose bump or two at that. The churchyard itself was beautifully situated and amazing: all on the side of a steep hill, the graves terraced in rows going down, each headstone supported by extra stone. That was a bit chilling too: back home in Notts, my church was also built on the second highest hill in the county, although not steep enough to mean terracing the graves. My parents are at the bottom of this hill, brother at the top.

I'm out.Get rid of Trident, scrap the unusable carriers with no suitable aircraft. Concentrate on our borders, which means proper coastal defence. Small, fast, heavily armed patrol boats, more fast destroyers, more hunter-killer submarines, more land-based air cover. Properly investigate drones of all sizes. Invest in more recruits for special forces. All affordable if we scrap the Trident and the carriers, with change to expand Border Forces.
The carriers have cost £6 billion ‘upfront’. They have no aircraft and no prospect of having any, thanks to American mismanagement of untried, unproven complex aircraft systems. They will cost £millions a day while at sea. There are not enough surface vessels to protect the carriers. Last year, during sea trials, the Q.E. leaked many thousands of liters of seawater via the propeller shaft seals. The cost of repairs was more £millions.

I'm out.Richard, Stevie P and John Barry, all the best to you and yours with your struggles, may they all have a good conclusion.
Having been off the net for some days, I was unable to comment before today. However, I attended my pre assessment on Wednesday and start chemo next Wednesday, having to go up to the path lab for bloods each Monday. Then a cycle of Monday bloods, Wednesday Chemo, for 3 weeks. Take a week off and start again. That will continue for 6 months.
After the first session, if I react OK, I will look at taking a cottage holiday somewhere in Norfolk or Suffolk, after maybe 2 or 3 sessions. I am advised to keep away from lots of people because of immune system issues, so it has to be a fairly isolated place.

After being off the net for a few days, and having hassle trying to (a) contact Plusnet and (b) trying to communicate with a Plusnet Muppet, I enjoyed those. Cheered me up!

I'm out.Know what you mean there Nolan: I had my Chemo Pre assessment on Wednesday and the lady who is going to be my dedicated Macmillan nurse is very attractive, but possibly more mature than the one you met. If I’m going to be going through all this programme, let the scenery be pleasing to the eye, is what I say! Makes you feel better.

I'm out.Belgium or Portugal seem a good bet. Cristiano Ronaldo’s last WC, wouldn’t he like to go out with a bang! But for me, I think the best team there, is Belgium. Combination of good players, a bunch from a proud little country. Underrated, IMO.
And I like Belgium. Had some very good times there, good people.

I'm out.Going back to PM’s car mats:
I checked the price of mats for the iX20 on the Hyundai website, as I got floor mats and a boot mat for <£80 for the Tucson only last April. For the iX20, a smaller car: >£110 on the Hyundai website. So I sourced made to measure floor mats from the Czech Republic and boot mat from Poland, for a total of <£55, from eBay: Both items very well made, good materials, fitted perfectly, quick delivery. Left 5 Star feedback for both.
The rear floor of the iX20 is completely flat, so the rear mat was a one-piece ‘wraparound’ that covers about 90% of the rear floor. From the Hyundai website, their mats are 2 separate rear ones. Go figure. Both the eBay floor mats have reinforced holes for the lugs on the floor, and tough undersides that keep them in place. The boot mat has a lip which pushes right up to the back of the rear seats, the sides and edge of the boot. It completely covers the carpet and the underside is tough-textured, non-slip material. I am very pleased with these mats, but yet again I am driven to ask: why cannot British manufacturers make stuff like this? The Polish and Czech manufacturers have obviously measured up the dimensions of a 2018 car and produced something that works well. With all the cars still produced in the UK*, why cannot some enterprising Brit company do the same?
*For now?

I'm out.Understand your reluctance to take a BB space Steve, but the badge is for your missus, not the car. She could travel in any car to and from anywhere, and stick the badge up. That’s what my missus did when I went into hospital: she got a blue badge based upon her own disabilities online, and has travelled in 4 different cars using it since. Including mine, with my son as a named driver. They could not have used my badge, as the journey was for her purposes. She even used it in our neighbours car when I was home but unable to drive.
Entirely your business and your principles I know, but lots of people are unaware of all the rules behind the Blue Badge.

I'm out.My reaction:
This is the United Kingdom. Here our native languages are English, Welsh, Gaelic and Cornish, but the major language of the country is English. If you cannot be bothered to speak to me in the language of my country, and you wish to live and work here, I cannot converse with you. If I wished to live and work in your country, I would make an effort to learn your native language. Which is why I learned to speak German, when I did live and work there.
Having said that, I do not extend the same reaction to tourists: On two occasions over the years, I was happy to help older German speakers with translation problems. I would not have that problem with younger Germans, all of whom are taught English in school.
If some political figure with no axe to grind (HA!) would look into the cost of translation services throughout public and private bodies in this country, it would probably amount to a sum that might provide a reasonable funding relief for the NHS.

I'm out.Wood burners can be fitted quite easily and cheaply with “clean burn” technology Richard. That’s what one of my mates down the road did. It is also better if you choose the right timber, can’t remember what he said about that.
