Have to apologise to Russia (never in my wildest dreams thought I’d say that!)
On first half evidence, much the better team: good player in a fast, direct team and all seem to have been coached to know each other well. They are a team. Saudis seem like a collection of individually talented, technical players, too much indirect, fancy footwork, too much passing back. Like the last 3 England WC teams. The second Russian goal was a lovely move: all about one midfield attacker who chased down the ball, made a perfect pass to a forward. who made the same to another, who beat 3 players in one move and shot into the top of the net. Good football. This Russian team is underrated.

I'm out. When I was designing and printing, I used Office 97 and Microsoft Publisher 2000. Yes, that’s how long ago it was, but those 2 products did a great job for me, including books.
I actually researched, designed and planned the printing a book privately for an ageing customer who was convinced that she was the daughter of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). She had some partially convincing “evidence” that it was all true and also had a sizeable private income, which she was prepared to invest in the book. I spent a long time trying to convince her that (a) even if true, it would probably be stopped from publishing and (b) my research would probably prove it to be an incorrect claim, so how would I get paid for research? She gave me a sizeable daily Research Fee and I found it, as I knew it would turn out, to be incorrect. I stopped the Fee payments and took back all evidence, including my Research. About 2 months later she employed a ‘cheap & nasty’ solicitor who came back to me and asked me to either bend certain facts, or turn the story into something I would call “quasi-Fiction”. I said I’ll get back to you and informed the customer I now regarded as a victim, that she was using a criminal for a solicitor. She fired him, I never heard from her until I read her Obituary. Sad, sad case of an old lady spinster with a lifelong conviction that she was “someone” who deserved better from life. The solicitor gave me a hateful call, full of obscenities. I gave a rough transcript, not the call of course, to the Law. Eventually he was disbarred or whatever they do to stop them practicing. I hope he is shoveling blood and guts in an Abattoir, that would suit his talents.
Point being, I made a good fist of that job, I learned a lot and the initial Proof looked good. Office now has to be so much better (and free!) and probably includes something like Publisher. I use Open Office now and it always does just what I need from it.

I'm out.Kick Off 4pm. Watching on Desktop in HD, as SWMBO hates me getting loud. For something different, I will be supporting a team of Muslims, not just one very skillful Egyptian who plays for some club in the North West, whose name I temporarily forget. ??
EDIT: don’t know which country has the worst Human Rights record. Probably Russia.

I'm out.We have only one vehicle way into the Close, but a narrow footpath at the other end, another door up from my door. That was how we trapped a potential burglar pair a few years ago: came in and approached a dark house, neighbour across the street had been to the loo, standing in a dark window, phoned the law and asked them to not use “Blues & Two’s”, but block the end of the road, around the bend. They stopped them, one PC ran around the block the other way and caught one, bulkier driver PC caught the other, called a van and inserted one of them none too gently as he resisted, put the other in the Police car.
While all this began, neighbour phoned as many as he could reach to watch the entertainment, including me. I led the applause for the Police officers: good job lads! Only other problems, a few Rogue Traders, including a nasty fish seller who was caught once by my call and stopped in his hometown of Newcastle, jailed for a bit, then came back but sat in the ‘new’ krappy old van with a big hat on whilst his mate went round. Unfortunately for him, I recognised him, photographed him and the van (without refrigeration or air vent, stank of ‘past use by’ fish) and sent it all to the law in Louth. Stopped on the A16 bypass a few miles away, not seen them since.
Next door to me are 2 Scotty girls: small dogs, big barks. The other side, a Jack Russel girl. We hear intruders at night before they get here! I love those Scotties, such lovely faces and so well-behaved. Their mum is a lovely, helpful neighbour, attractive too: all 3 single male Oldpharts here fancy her but she is not interested, after a messy divorce.

I'm out.” I suppose as a passenger it could be an issue, but as the driver it’s a pain to reset the seat all the time. ”
Steve, I take my 4’9″ missus out of course (if I have to) and two days a week I pickup my giant No.2 Gson from work. They both have the front passenger seat set right back to its stop: missus has to get in with a step even in the iX20, due to the hip not yet working fully. Gson because he would ruin my sills with his massive work-booted feet, if he couldn’t swing them over. That’s also why I cover the seat and floor: he works in heavy engineering and his clothes are covered in oil and krap. Back seats recline a bit, so anyone else makes do with the room they have. “Hey, you have a Taxi Card? Here’s one, phone don’t moan!”
Met my quiet, gentle giant gson in Grimsby today by accident, having left his College for the day. He was with 3 lad mates and the friend-who-is-a-girl-but-not-a-GF. I had an eye opener: he is obviously the crew leader, they all deferred to him and looked up to him, 3 lads were big as well. Made me see him in a new light: he has a life outside of home and family. Not sure about the not-a-GF bit, though, she looked at him as if it was more. Grandkids: they change every time I see them.

Neither do I, but never got the moulds right anyway!???

I'm out.Dwynne, I don’t want to labour this point, and I don’t wish to argue with someone whose experience, opinions and knowledge I respect: but – I only photographed the areas you see, nothing to the right of the white Audi, didn’t think I needed to. What I took, was enough IMHO to prove that this was inconsiderate and thoughtless behaviour on the part of the Audi driver. To clarify that point, I have received a FB PM from the driver to the RH side of the Audi, who states that he struggled to enter the (next to last) space, was worried about potential damage to his car, and actually had an argument later with the Audi driver, whom he knows as a near neighbour. He also states that the Audi guy parks inconsiderately on their street, including blocking other drives and the pavement. It seems I was perfectly correct when calling the Audi driver a barmpot, should have added an Anglo-Saxon adjective or two.
Richard we have a gardening girl (actually about 30 years past being a girl) who is super efficient and does the heavy stuff. We like and trust her so much that today we gave her the back door keys and returned from chemo/shopping to a beautifully manicured lawn, all plots and borders dug over in front and rear gardens, and not a weed in sight. £20 well spent, IMO. The keys were pushed clean through the letterbox, all doors locked. Her SIL also cleans for us.
Lifting my left arm for the scans, is always a painful chore for me, as that is the side with the nerve-damage. I usually drag it up and support it with my right arm and hand.
Ed when the landlord fitted new doors, our Council Decent Homes group made them recognise that we were a vulnerable age group, all in one complex: a possible target. We received a thicker standard of door, with panel inserts and Euro locks and the added benefit of sliding rods all around the outer periphery of the door, which secure into metal plates in the frame. This was a problem when an old neighbour died of a stroke on his lounge floor, after locking his door, leaving the keys in the inner lock and putting the chain on. The Key Safe with his spare was no use as the keys were blocking the lock. Eventually, after trying to use the Big Red Key to no avail, they were forced to cut the door panels off with a steel-saw and reach through with bolt croppers to cut the chain: the smaller WPC was volunteered to crawl in, of course! The Sgt. in charge was amazed by the security of the doors, advised us regarding chain locks and keys in inner locks, but said that we were secure as long as we did not answer the door to anyone we didn’t recognise.
Landlord not amused and decided to locate his NOK to pay for a new door, came to near neighbours asking why he listed NOK as “none” on his Tenancy Agreement. Unfortunately, he was 93, wife and siblings long passed and he died childless. He had served aboard carriers during WWII and had left all his mementos, including several medals, to RN museum Pompey. In the unfortunate position of outliving the few people in his life who were connected to him.
Steve, we always lock our doors, there is a first time for every nasty barsteward under the sun. Had a few dodgy people over the years, but living in a Close which is a cul-de-sac, there are always at least 2 or 3 insomniac Oldpharts watching from windows and we look out for each other: all have each other’s numbers, take each other’s parcels, etc.

I'm out.A retired police officer mate once told me that 50p. coins comprised the largest percentage of counterfeited British coinage. Now that the Chinese are in on that game, it must be worse. I recall that some machines, a few years ago, were refusing and rejecting some 50p’s. I was with my ex-copper mate in a car park, trying to pay the machine, when this happened, and that’s when he told me. Apparently machines were adjusted to take all 50p’s, whether light (forged) or full weight (genuine). In other words, the authorities gave up the unequal battle.

I'm out.Sky Q was a mess for me, the EPG had so many channels, most of which were either crap, duplicated or both. Scrolling through all of that, even divided into categories, took too much time. It would have been better if channels could have been deleted, as they can on Freesat Humax and even my Haupagge DVBTV dual tuner on this Desktop. The Sky Hub router has only 2 LAN ports and the Wifi was horrible, much better with wired Ethernet. Even with the new-type Gigabit Plusnet Hub now, (which is in exactly the same position that the Sky Hub operated from) there are 4 LAN ports and the WiFi is much stronger.
Sky is being overtaken and passed, doesn’t seem to have a clue. The fact that Fox looks like owning Sky, will be the death knell IMO.

I'm out.Been there Richard, done that several times. It never gets easier or more comfortable, does it? I hope you have a good outcome, best of luck.
Today I felt like Superman, well compared to the last few weeks anyway. I don’t know if it’s the chemo or the tablet Trials, but I was able to carry out several jobs that I have been wanting to do for weeks. My lovely Roses were suffering from neglect, so I pruned away the recent heavy rain damage from the rear garden climbers and pruned a lot of the old Honeysuckle which was completely out of control. Then to the front roses: the white one blooms from March until sometimes a (mild) December, but the huge, gorgeous, aromatic peach climber always makes it far up the wall in the southern sun and is just now blooming. All my neighbours stop while crossing our front door, to have a sniff. I’ll have to start charging a fee! Had to get out the stepladder for the rear roses in the Arbor, and the topmost blooms on the front. We are having some work done to the rear later, including taking out a huge conifer (which I never wanted) and some turf laying where now there is gravel. (Ditto, never wanted)
After lunch I took the shears to my Lilac bushes, which were beginning to attract my attention by grabbing me as I walked past them. I love roses, honeysuckle and Lilac, which has a very faint but beautiful scent.
Today the Boy done good: SWMBO is pleased and cooked me a fine lamb dinner as reward. Even my blackbird came to tell me, well, something. We have a conversation, after he takes to my roof and we whistle back and forth. I have no idea what either of us is saying, but my neighbour likes it.
Tomorrow, Chemo 3 then a week off. One day at a time…

I'm out.Dwynne, sorry but your explanation/excuse for this totally careless, inconsiderate parker, does not hold up. If I had extended the photo to the left of the white Audi A5, you could have seen that the car next to him/her, was parked completely within the white lines. The left (offside) rear bumper and wing of the Audi was actually obstructing the car to his/her left. The space I was forced into taking, was the last in the hospital car park, with a kerb next to my driver’s exit door. I am subject to 3 separate disabilities, including spinal problems which make it difficult for me to look very far to left, right, up and down. Yet I was able to manouevre my car in reverse, so that I at least could get out and back in to fetch my wife from the ward.
There is no excuse for how this driver parked. It is just a symptom of the general lack of consideration for others, admittedly by a minority. I have since shamed the driver (without reg plate) on a local site and HE has been named and shamed. Job done, no regrets.

I'm out. When I had Sky Q, I used Ethernet 5e to connect the krappy Sky router across my loft. (No.2 gson provided labour and crawling over the insulation.) The problem with the router, is that it has only 2x LAN ports. But it worked much better than WiFi.

I'm out. When I tested Tucsons in Motability last April, I took out a top of the range demo: electric everything. The motors under the seats lifted the seats so much that we could not get in or out then (before our respective Ops) and had to use a step for the test drive. Once we had our Ops, it would have been physically impossible to use that top range model. At least we had a year with the Tucson we did use and it was a very comfortable drive. Having said that, the iX20 has grown on us: for a smaller car, it has real acceleration and is a smooth drive, despite the auto box. I just have to slow down and remember MPG and that it’s petrol….?⚠

I'm out.Our PM complicates the situation by trying to play both sides against the middle. Trying to side with the Trumper one minute, then being conciliatory with the EU and others the next. I wish we had a PM with a pair of stones! In further consideration, I wish we had a pair of stones anywhere in Westminster.???
Steve, I cannot agree that Trump is better than Hilary, that has been proved wrong many times over now. The man is just as much a megalomaniac as Kim, with the difference that Kim knows exactly what he’s doing. Trump does not have a clue from one Twitter post to the next, diplomacy is not in his vocabulary, patience and serious political thought are impossible for him. IMO, he is a greater danger to world peace than Putin. Every day he denies reality.

I'm out.My dad was very grieved when the VCR tapes of his John Wayne and other Western movies became unplayable. All happened before DVD came out and VCR-to-DVD machines became available, of course. Since he passed, most of his old favourites are available on DVD: I would have loved to have bought him an HDTV, DVD player/recorder and scads of suitable movies. Most of his old C&W music is still with me on vinyl, he loved Marty Robbins, Frankie Laine, etc. It’s still in good nick too, because I had bought him a HiFi with record deck and stereo cassette, recorded the vinyl, taught him how to play them. Came home one day and he was in a bit of a mess, a tape had unspooled and wrapped itself around the innards. I managed to get it out OK and he was convinced that the music was gone, until I showed him how I recorded the vinyl again. That day is when my dad had an epiphany about Tech in general: he ‘got it’ immediately. I can still see him now, reading his wildlife books, feet up on a cushion, listening to music or watching John Wayne, both cockatiels running up his body and hanging off his head. Glass of rum hidden by his side from mother.
My dad was something else…

I'm out.John, if you could get dad to buy something like this and set it up for him, it might be the answer:
70 Freeview channels including HD, record 2 channels at once, BBC iPlayer, Youtube. 12 months Warranty. Record straight from the Freeview TV.
I know from my own history with my parents, how they struggle to understand Tech that we take for granted. My dad passed in 1988, but the VCR and remote for TV even then, completely flummoxed him. He used to get really annoyed with me and ask me to slow down: “I’m a lot older than you, you know!” My mam just would not touch the VCR.
Good luck!
