Let’s hear them. If they are as good and accurate as some of your comments here, there will not be many laughs.

Truth is that the real EU leaders* are of one mind: they don’t want us to go and they are doing their best to prevent us going. Remain protesters turning out in their thousands across the UK is one encouragement to them. The thoughts of all those young British citizens now eligible to vote, is another.

Meanwhile the governing Party here is divided into several parts, whose aim is united in refusing to back their PM. They are taking what was once an impossible Tory path, in joining the Opposition to vote against the Chequers Plan. All going Pete Tong, Graham.

*Germany and France, obviously. Their contributions are going to have to rise if we leave, and their collective influence amongst other Member States, goes down. Not a happy result with German voters, Angela!

So this rumbles on in the Forum, 28 pages of points which are now boring me sh**less! I see it now as a battle between those who have, as Steve puts it, completely “lost their shit” because they know internally that they are wrong and refuse to recognise that fact, and the select few who give reasoned debate, which is attacked with shaky ‘fact’ drawn from questionable sources.

I am drawn to gradually accepting another referendum, this time with clear, concise explanations from both sides. We won’t get that, because the so-called Decision Makers in Westminster also appear to have collectively lost their shit also. They are a bunch of headless chickens, some sticking to scenarios they do not have the intelligence and forethought to understand what this means for the aftermath and the future of our young people, who will come to look at the situation and the way it was handled with a very jaundiced eye. I think we will need a GE before it can be properly settled.

Yes there are issues with Brussels Bureaucracy and EU Directives, but the alternative under the idiots in Westminster is worse. At least the EU has one mind about what their end point means, whilst some of our rulers appear to possess the intelligence of an earthworm having been sliced by a spade.

For me it all boiled down to trust: an early experience with a “man from the Pru” soured my attitudes. My family had used the Man calling every month to collect payments and for 3 generations this worked harmoniously. I carried on and went so far as to add another service, transferring some pension allowance to Pru. Unfortunately a change in personnel resulted in a fraudulent collector taking 9 months of payments for himself. Pru did not tell me about missed payments for that whole period and it took a solicitor to get them to admit their mistake, catch the offender and prosecute him, after which I was given a ‘free’ 3 months of payments, to add to my own payments back! I changed to DD payments, then transferred to another Provider. This one was then swallowed up by Pru, moving me back to them but with a slightly larger monthly pension payment and a larger lump sum. I took part of the lump sum at early ill- health retirement from the County Council and this, together with the County Council’s (possibly over-generous) lump sum, bought me the equipment to set up as a self-employed designer and printer, my last career. I now have 2 quite small pensions to add to my HMF pension: one is L&G, which I take monthly, the other still Pru, but I take that annually in the first Monday of December, in order to help with Christmas. We are helped very much by the HMF pension, without which we would be forced to cut costs.

My last career in printing I enjoyed immensely, almost as much as I had during my years of working as a workshop foreman, dealing with Classic Cars, which included the import/export aspect. I thought that would have been a nightmare, btw, but really enjoyed speaking with people in the trades of shipping and supply, all over the world. I found the Japanese to be most welcoming, efficient and courteous. Some Americans were absolutely obnoxious, some eager to make a profit and convinced that we in the UK knew nothing. They became surprised when they discovered that we mostly have a higher IQ than they believed to be the case! Most were OK and I learned to ask amongst the good ones about a new contact. I learned so much during that time – and here I go, digressing as usual. It’s all the paths that my work and life experiences take me down, sorry guys! I am such a Networking Tart!???

That is a mix of good and worse news JB, I wish you all the very best in dealing with you and your other half’s issues. Glad you are taking bowel cancer screening: both SWMBO and I take the packs every year.”So far So good” as the man said, passing each floor as he fell from the 17th floor balcony…?

Along with the chemo, I have screening via a camera through the neck-hole for Barrett’s Oesophagus* and another through the Southern hole for other issues, a CT and possible MRI scan later next month. Wifey has growing knee and other hip pain which needs fixing soon. Whoever first said ‘It never rains but it pours‘ was unaware of the hurricanes that happen to some of us oldpharts!

Good luck and good health mate!

Hi Bob – who is that ugly barsteward in the first photo? lol. Nice to see you back. Got any shares in BT?

It’s just my pet spider, Dwynne. She is lovely when seen close up and appreciates the warm home.? Scampers down the window to meet me now. I have a thing for spiders which eat up the bugs that try to invade my home, got several orb spiders in the utility room which has two doors to the back and front. SWMBO makes me clear them out occasionally, but I always leave at least one hidden, they come back.

If I had shares in BT, I would have got rid weeks ago: check it out: –

Richard, the hair shown is facial. I have a huge Solar Panel on my head now and more falling daily. Side hair still growing, as is ear and nasal stuff, also body hair to maintain my Neanderthal image.?? I also needed a two-pack transfusion two weeks ago, was extremely anaemic. That has gone a long way to making me feel better. Apparently this is a normal progression for most Chemo patients. As the Clinical Head nurse says, “Well it’s a poison; we are poisoning you in order to kill a greater poison.” Wow, thanks lady, TMI.

I sincerely hope that all goes well for your wife, wishing you and family all the best in your separate ordeals.

Dave, in considering the WiFi aspect – we have no coverage in the village, nor for several miles down the A16, where my son and daughter are similarly affected in their village. My WiFi comes via the net and the EE Brightbox that JayCeeDee kindly sent me and it works very well: amazed that I have the only 4G service in the village.

I also recommend an accountant: the last IFA I could trust advised me to use an accountant as he could see the 20o7/8 Crash coming, so moved into using his Cider Apple business full time. He was also a Williams, which helped, especially after we found a shared ancestor! The “cousin” (or summink!) now has a 100+ Apple and Pear orchard in beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and looks much healthier. His ciders sell all over the world, but his joke is that his Accountant is rubbish. (his wife does the accounts)

Thanks guys, you all rock and I may get perilously close to shock, but all my posts come from an honest place where sometimes erroneous opinions live!?

I now am back on ADSL with speeds much reduced from the 11Mbps I had with the FTTC that BT screwed up by installing a new cabinet, then neglecting to carry out Fibre capacity needed for a large village which is rapidly getting larger. Then completely cutting lines to several homes, including my own: ?

The situation regrading servicemen serving in N.I. is very close to my heart and my own time there, from the early ’69 start to my last tour. I cannot say much more, because the barstewards are currently close to breathing upon my own neck, according to an old contact, who uses no electronic means of contact. This government needs to do something legal and definite, instead of using weasel media words which are easily denied later. We talked the talk and walked the walk in defence of a part of the UK, whilst taking action under Active Service conditions, but never being paid Active Service pay. Governments sent us there and continued to move the goalposts while we were served, almost monthly. Successive governments continue to change the positions of those goalposts. Meanwhile, the real criminals were freed by the worst PM of modern times, with an eye on pleasing the USA and wishing to improve his CV by adding “Peacemaker” to his accomplishments. Incidentally, those of us with several Tours accomplished, did not suffer from PTSD, apart from a small minority who had no label for it then and suffered silently. I have no anti-PC beef against PTSD, know it is genuine, but also genuinely  know that some claim it falsely.

The people making the most of this situation, are the liberal do-gooders masquerading as lawyers. They don’t give a damn about us oldpharts who mostly tried to do our best in a broken, impossible part of the UK, which was then and is still: a part of the UK. For those of us always faced with the plea from the South, “Give us back our Six Counties” –  Have ’em! You will want to hand it back within weeks, because your Security Forces won’t be able to handle it, even to the precarious level of public ‘safety’ that ours managed to achieve.

There I must step off my Soapbox until the next Rant.???

Health continues to improve, weight and BMI stabilised and actually replaced 2.2 Kg over last 2 weeks. Chemo still makes me ill after a couple of days, but feeling better atm. Weather here in East Lindsey unbelievably good for October, but freezing returns at weekend apparently. Here are some pic’s from last week.

This is me and the defender of our kitchen window, fattening up on the bugs which try to enter:

Taken from outside, hence reflections upon myself and shirt. Additional facial hair is down to shaving accident and Chemo causing bleeding to resist stopping. Now I like it, so does daughter and family, SWMBO outvoted.??

Huge bee on bungalow front wall was  a suspected Queen, so I drove it away without harming it. Keeping the Guard Spider though, hoping she hibernates in the fascia for next year.

Good luck and Good health to all!

That is about when I should finish my last Chemo session John, and hopefully receive some good news from the last scans.*

I hope you receive similar good news, keep on trucking mate!

*Always the Optimist, I have booked 2x Tribute Band concerts for SWMBO and I at the Embassy Theatre Skegness. First is a Moody Blues Tribute (love their music, got loads of good vinyl and CD stuff) a week on Friday, my week after from Session 5.

                      http://tinyurl.com/yc3kd5v7

Second is either a celebration or losing my Blues (Sorry!) in loud Oldphart 60’s Rock’n’Roll music: “Solid 60’s Experience”

Lots of Oldphart Blues included from one of my favourite British Blues & Soul guys: Chris Farlowe, old mate of the Stones, Otis and Wilson Pickett. (How could he not pick up good stuff from those artistes?)

He staggers onstage with an outsize belly, picks up the mike and blows my mind every time. His version of the old Otis Redding hit “Mr Pitiful” is an experience.

Hope the second show is a celebration, good luck with your recovery John!

Some years ago, we holidayed on the IoW and visited the LongStone:

The usual “Pretenders”: one heard to say “I can feel the Ancestors when my hand is on the Stone!” Pretentious idiots, with distorted ideas.

IoW is a strange place though: so much early history there. The last Roman Emperor Constantine lived there before coming to power as the only Caesar from Britannica:

There are quite a few villas on the Island, including Brading, at which we spent  a happy and interesting few hours:

Beautiful Mosaic, tessellated floors. Fortunately, SWMBO shares my love of history! Now, if I can get her interested in Classic cars and aircraft…

Today we have had temp’s of 13°C (morning) to 22°C now. (I kid you not: it is a gorgeous day.) Came back from shopping, having ensured heating was off, to find it on, but set to 17°C. Apparently switched on by darling wife, set to 17° “So it doesn’t get too hot: well it’s a nice day, isn’t it?” Our huge lounge window is almost due South-facing and I leave all doors open when it’s like that. Heats the whole bungalow, excepting the kitchen at the rear, which is always cold. Between front and rear of the bungalow, there is a temp difference often of 8 to 10°C. The rear garden gets sun from sunrise to about 11am, then that’s it, it goes cold. I can defreeze stuff by placing it on the settee top in front of the window.

Bungalow was boiling when we returned. Women and logical explanations, no comprehension.??

Out here on the chilly East Coast, the North winds mean that our heating has been off and on over the last few days. SWMBO believes that turning down the thermostat saves money: all that does is supply insufficient heat whilst still using energy. She also turns down valves on radiators. Why cannot women understand logic?

This isn’t brexit related and I am sorry but I can’t resist. Some of Corbyn’s supporters are calling for a boycot of the Guardian ! Apparently if you can’t agree with 100% of what the Labour party gets up to then you cant say anything at all.

Perhaps a pointer to what form of ‘democracy’ we might get under a Corbyn Labour government. The rabid extreme Left are rising again.

                                        SSD purchase.

Decided upon 1 of 3, all 480 GB as this is the size that meets my requirements, I have a 1TB spinner which in all my years of building & using various PC’s, and accumulating stuff, has only used 120 GB, probably because I save to a 2TB NAS. I will be using more in the near future, but not much more than around 300Gb, although I want “headroom”. 480 GB should give me this. And a faster PC of course. I already have a 32GB Sandisk Cache drive*, will I still need that? The 3 drives considered:
