TBH I am sick and tired of the whole charade now. I pay a quick visit to the Beeb website, skipping the obvious anti-Boris bias amongst their political “experts”. Then a longer visit to Reuters and a few more. I cba to watch TV news, it is just one long, dreary parade of talking heads and a lot of speculation.

If the politicians paid more attention to the scientists and the NHS, we might get some real answers and advice. What makes me angry is the Cummings affair and the accompanying Labour hypocrisy: FOUR Labour MP’s guilty of the same ‘misdemeanour’, absolutely no criticism from the media.

Where I wish I was: from the Win 10 Theme “Beaches”. Although I am happy with a couple of miles along the Sutton on Sea coastal path.

Lee: seems the lass in your pic has a car breakdown, does she need a skilled mechanic?

Love that Ryan, reminds me of when our youngest gdaughter was small (almost 15 now). She had 4 cuddlies: Betty 1, Betty 2, Alice (!) and a piece of old cloth that was once a blanket, which reminded her of mum because it once smelled of mum.

She used to sleepover with us many times, because single parent mum has been deserted by 2 ratbags over the years. So the 4 cuddly items had to come too. Betty 1 was original, very battered so when I spotted Betty 2 in a charity shop window, exactly the same as #1, I bought it, expecting to replace Battered Betty. Oh no! She kept both. I had forgotten the way children love all their routine stuff. Alice was a gift from big brother, and when I gave her a bedtime story, I had to read it to Alice “Because she understands the big words granddad, just like Jack does!” Most of those stories I made up as I went along and I often had her laughing out loud, at which in would come grandma to scold me for keeping her awake.

I love all my grandbrats, but she was special. Not spoiled or favoured over the others, but I did spend a lot of time with her, took her to playgroups and down to Skeg for the Play places. I miss those times, but now she is a very mature 14, there are other times.

I have a swivelling manual recliner, bought just before Christmas with the new chairs that my Gert and I “gave” each other as Chrimbo gifts. We had been measured for the chairs and they are great, but I spotted the swivel chair in another room of the store. It was exactly the same fabric and colour as the chairs, an ex-demo item on sale at less than half price. Tried it, liked it. Now I use it in preference to the chair that was measured and built for me. Reclines and swivels, so I can keep an eye out for my Gert if she is approaching from the rear. (That is a must!)

Had my own Amazon problem today. Almost 2 weeks ago, I ordered a shelving item that should have been the only one that could fit a strangely-dimensioned storage cupboard. Originally promised delivery for June 11th to 16th. OK, I thought, it’s coming from China, there is a Situation atm, no worries. Today Amazon tell me the order has been cancelled and is no longer available, but there is an alternative. Which is larger by 5 cm width and will not fit.

              Bugga!

But glad you had a good day, apart from that. Maybe Amazon deserves an explosion from time to time!

Very interesting link Ed, thank you. Always been interested in Military Intelligence, since experiences with certain Green Slime* people and tactics during N.I. service. I discovered that some personnel were good, decent, hard working operatives, whilst an admittedly tiny minority were frankly useless and often dangerous to their own ‘side’.

Fascinating story, especially the details regarding the Falklands Conflict. A translation of the German reads: –

Since the British had to be seen as a constant freelancer for this operation, it can be said that the outcome of the Falklands War in 1982 was significantly influenced, if not decided, by the operation described here

And at the same time, a French team of arms technicians from Dassault were explaining to the Argentinians how to bypass the faults deliberately introduced into Exocet missiles by the French Military, at the request of the British government. That technical team remained in Argentina until shortly before the conflict began, then was returned to France by a circuitous route. British ships sunk and lives lost.

*”Green Slime” is the name given to M.I. operatives and activities, by the ordinary British soldier. I once rescued a document from beneath the back seat of a car obviously used by a Green Slime operative in Belfast, and returned it to him. “Fell out of my brief case.”

                      In 2016 I bought this:     https://tinyurl.com/y5bou77t

So good, I bought another for my No.2 gson. Two arrived, so I checked the Order: yes, only one ordered and only one paid for. Waited 3 months, opened box carefully in case of a requested Return. Gave it to my son. All 3 chairs still working well, frames and castors as new. As gson uses his a great deal, it has stood up well and he is a very big lad.

Unfortunately it is no longer available and I cannot find it anywhere Nolan, sorry. At a tad under £55, it was a great bargain. As a BOGOF, even better! If the manufacturer had a habit of sending out 2 items for the price of one, maybe a recipe for business disaster.

Yes I agree Steve, these politicians never seem to understand that telling the truth in the first place, rules out telling increasingly more incriminating porkies later.

I have been forced to travel to family myself 3 times during the current emergency. While our move was underway I was also travelling back and forth to the last home, desperately trying to find a destination that would take loads of stuff we didn’t want any more, because we were expecting to be charged for its removal by the former Housing Association landlord. Fortunately there has been a change of H.A. there, taken over by a massive combine. I wrote to their Director of Housing, she phoned me to say that they are no longer charging leaving tenants for this. Big relief!

Whilst I was going back, some of the older former friends and neighbours were walking right up to me, to ask how I was. Had to keep saying “Stay away 3 Yards!” They don’t get metres of course, our generation had mostly not been Metricated. I had that operation years ago!

Don’t think so. He is far too important to Boris, his puppeteer, pulls all the strings and the PM dances. Remember Mandelson in Blair and Brown’s governments? Cummings holds the same position. Mandelson (now a Lord of course) hung on because he knew where several bodies were buried, and exactly who buried them. In the end he went, and then wrote his book “The Third Man” in which he praises Blair to the skies, and assassinates Brown in print.

Cummings will no doubt hang on until he does something that cannot be allowed to continue. He will probably wind up a Lord too. After the Coronavirus situation has calmed down, he may be pushed or he may jump, but I suspect only on his own terms.

We used this a few years ago to sort out a situation my missus had with a Store Card at M&S. The company running it for M&S (GE Capital Bank I think) demanded money for payments made and account closed, 2 years previously. Experian found out all the details and we sent copies of bank statements and an “Account Closed” notice from the bank, with a warning of legal action if they persist. Never had another Store Card.

I smell a rat from this case of yours, does not seem right. There are several ways that this could have turned up at your letter box. It may be someone else using your name and address. It could be someone previously living at your address. How long have you lived there?  From our case, these companies make mistakes all the time. Whatever the source, it doesn’t matter, get Experian to give you the info and take it from there.

CCJ’s are as their name says, County Court Judgements. Even if they send bailiffs, they cannot force entry to your home. Only the High Court can do that and, despite what you see on TV, it is very difficult to get a High Court Judgement. Good luck JB.

I just saw the Pink Floyd album on Ebay. Same original-

VERY FIRST PRESS WITH NO STICKER ON THE FRONT AND ‘ PRODUCED BY DAVID GILMOUR ,BOB EZRIN ,ROGER WATERS’ AND ‘WORDS AND MUSIC ROGER WATERS’ CREDIT , NO OTHER BAND MEMBERS LISTED .

All exactly like mine, but I bet the Ebay one has been played more than once, I only played the first 2 or 3 tracks. No offence to any Floyd fans, but it hurt my brain, too much negativity for an old Rock’n’roller! Not in any hurry to sell, so going to see how this sells, then wait a few months and advertise it.

As an aside I did not realise how worried Norway is about Sweden invading Oslo!

The two Scandinavians have a history of conflict, Ed. Denmark had already lost a war with Sweden, making several territorial concessions which included Norway. In 1814 the Danes covertly encouraged Norway into a war of independence. Norway lost, having a much smaller army than Sweden’s battle-hardened troops. The result was that Denmark had to make more territorial concessions and Norway became swallowed by Sweden, which at the time was a big power in Europe, supported by the UK, Russia and North Germany, all allied against Napoleon’s France. Sweden’s king became ruler of both Sweden and Norway.

Times and international relations changed. Sweden lost much of her military and international clout. By 1905 Norway had developed into a liberal, democratic nation, declaring and achieving independence, supported strongly by the UK. Norway still remains independent, refusing full membership of the EU and taking associate membership.

I have (Google) – translated some of the article, but as you know there is too much to show here. This is just the initial few statements:

This is Rena camp. One of the most important military areas in Norway. The orange dots show 40 mobiles that have been on the site. NRK has tracked down the mobile owners movements, in and out of working hours.

                                      When mobile becomes the enemy

Every day, Norwegian officers and soldiers shout where they are. Without knowing it.
NRK has acquired information on the movements of Norwegians from a British company. The company has a business address in the heart of London, and states on its website that they “make accurate data accessible to everyone”.
The data NRK holds on shows accurate positions for 140,000 mobiles and tablets from 2019. The information comes from apps Norwegians have installed.

The data package cost NOK 35,000 and shows how easy it is to map parts of the lives of military personnel.
Several of the persons NRK has found are officers with in-depth knowledge of the Armed Forces’ weaknesses and strengths. Others have access to sensitive areas. This included, among other things, a soldier who has stayed in the area of the Armed Forces’ elite elite soldiers, and a person who has stayed at one of the Intelligence Service’s stations in Northern Norway.

The information from the apps made it possible to see which houses some of them slept in, where they worked, what addresses they visited, and where they were at leisure. – If I had been a foreign intelligence, I would have regarded this as a powerful planning tool, which can be used to survey individuals, says Erik Reichborn-Kjennerud at the Norwegian Foreign Policy Institute (NUPI).

NRK’s findings concern the Defense’s top management.

                                      – I personally find it a bit uncomfortable to know how closely you can conduct monitoring only when purchasing data from a third party, says Vice Admiral Elisabeth Natvig. She is the commander of the Defense Staff and is second in the series of commands in the Armed Forces. She will now look at the Armed Forces’ routines and regulations for how military personnel use the smartphone.

                                      – I never think it is true that we can say that we have done enough, says Vice Admiral Natvig.

Yet another NATO member that cannot teach its Armed Forces military security.

Didn’t know that JCD: should have, as I have stayed in Norfolk Cottages a few times. Pubs and restaurants full of Oldpharts, I felt right at home! Strangely, our stays in Suffolk seemed to have a younger population. East Lindsey, my Lincs region, has a higher index than the rest of Lincs, which is due to Skeggy area and the number of older residents who have Park Homes and caravans. I know of 3 people who moved to Skeg just from my village. Extrapolate that across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire and that gives an idea. Relatively few people I have met since moving here in 2000, are native Lincolnshire “Yellow Bellies”. I have always described myself as a ‘Nottinghamshire Refugee’. There were quite a few elderly retired RAF guys when I first came here, many since flown off to much higher altitudes.

One neighbour we had at first was a native (and a Williams, but probably wrongly named at birth!) and he called all Notts visitors “Chizits”. Because in the shop he used to have in Mablethorpe, they always asked “How much is it?” – Pronounced in Notts speak as “ahmachizit?” As he apparently lost the shop because he spent the profits, I took very little notice of the idiot.
