      Has to be a Dave R post…

I do like my meat, we’re having some Aldi sizzle steaks on Thursday, but if someone said I couldn’t have it any more I wouldn’t be too disconsolate.

      Beer on the other hand…

I like my meat too, but has to be not too big and accompanied by lots of veg. And heaps of thick gravy*. The only veg I cannot eat are Swede and Turnip. I have a large nephew who used to take one of my dad’s onions out of the garden (with granddad’s permission) wash it and eat it like an apple. His daughter confirms that he still does that and he has never had a day away from work ill. Same nephew at about 3, once painted himself blue from head to foot, another time sat on the coalhouse floor eating coal. Yet again, drank half a bottle of Oil of Swallows embrocation. All around 3 or 4 years old. Don’t know how he made it to puberty.

*My mam’s gravy was legendary. Dad used to pass the gravy boat (size of a small bucket!) and ask “One slice or two?”

I am on Prime Steve and I see what you mean about dropping it into the basket for next time. Unfortunately, I needed this item for my lad’s desktop. I need to get it done and gone, as I have limited room in the spare bedroom/my office/device repair & rebuild room and I have to disconnect and move my own desktop. Don’t want granddaughter to stop sleepovers, but it’s inevitable that at 14 that will soon happen. Then I have a workshop/office. But I will take the opportunity to strip and clean my PC and transfer everything to an SSD. Been meaning to do that for ages: I may be offline for a bit.

Just found out it’s on its way and the seller is about 20 miles north of me, near Grimsby! Sent me an email to say he posted it this morning. Had I known, I would have picked it up myself, I was up there briefly yesterday.

Nothing wrong with a mouse or ratburger, providing it’s properly gutted and cleaned. In fact, there are so many of the buggas, it could be one solution to world hunger.

I have (carefully) killed and eaten snake on Jungle Training. Not bad at all. Left the head and venom sacs though. A vegan or vegetarian, I am not.

Works well on my tablet and desktop. I never try it on the phone if I can help it, as any text on the phone is difficult for me. But I like the new setup: hovering on “Forums” gives everything we need. “YOU” is great, love it.

Many thanks for carrying on with the site amongst all your problems and trying to keep your own work going Lee. Great work!

And congratulations to your daughter too, wasbit.

I have thought for some time that the great majority of the current generation are very caring. Probably much more so than my generation was, TBH. I experience it every day in town: as I shop, the younger people will hold open doors for me when they see my stick and awkward mobility. (Some older people often brush me out of the way) I once had two young girls pick me up from a fall in an iced-up car park, walk me to Argos and carry my parcel back to the car. Still occasionally see at least one of those girls, now young women. They always speak.

Maybe there is hope for this country?

I estimated that SWMBO and I got around 31/32 months each out of our old WFox Swift and Spark, after allowing for the fact that the Swift (mine) was bought about 3 months before SWMBO’s Spark. Taking into account the fact that ours were the original, much simpler models than yours Ed.

I will have to tell our granddaughter that her WFox Swift 2 may have battery problems in a year or two. That one gets hammered daily and hourly. Interestingly, considering the current debate around mobiles in schools, Gd’s Grammar school trusts students to bring theirs into lessons and copy notes to them.

Apologies Ed for my post. I just viewed the YT link to removing the Spark 2X battery, what a tremendous faff that is! To disassemble the original Spark and swift was much easier: I just needed a Stanley blade initially to crack the seal, then managed to insert my thumbnail into the crack and follow it all round with a very thin-bladed screwdriver, No screws to remove, no parts to carefully prise out. Just insert same thumbnail under the edge of the battery and slide it out. I can see why you call it a “…near impossibility” !

I just hope our Xperia’s batteries last at least another 3 years. It’s time companies thought more about battery life and less about knocking out more and more devices which feature irreplaceable resources. Consumerism has gone stark raving bonkers.

Is the front port connected to the mobo via an internal cable? I had a similar problem with a previous mobo and that was connected via a separate cable to another mobo socket. Just a thought, I get them occasionally:)

Good morning Ed. I am selling our two Wiley’s but have changed batteries in both the ( original) Spark and Swift over 4 years. Not easy at first to split the case, but after first time it was easier. I found batteries in China after a Google, very cheaply and obviously genuine WF originals. But I agree with your opinion of Wileyfox as a company: total lack of support and I will never buy another WF phone. Missus and I bought identical Sony Xperia L3 phones from Carphone Warehouse and we are very happy with them. Good luck with your next choice!

If you want to see the Western Isles, Oban is a good base.     https://tinyurl.com/yynfqmug

Lots to do, lots to see and some of the most wonderful scenery in the world. My brother (17 years my senior, RIP Big Bro) and his son my eldest nephew (only 5 years my junior, RIP family comedian) used to tour the Isles every year. Distilleries were very involved, my nephew knew the area as he lived and worked there from age 18 to 51, was married to the (then) Oban Postmaster’s daughter. Briefly. The people are very hospitable and their spoken English is very good, as they speak slowly. Many are Gaelic speaking.

Spoken by my Big Bro, endorsed by his son : “If you can’t see the mountains on the next island, it’s raining. If you can see the mountains on the next island, it’s going to rain.”

<p style=”text-align: left;”>That’s the problem, as Dave says, encryption of the HD recordings. Thanks for all the suggestions and advice though guys. I will try them, but encrypted HD is the barrier. Meanwhile SWMBO had better begin binge- watching! I cba about anything left on the box. It’s an HDR-1100 S btw and is apparently a legal requirement of Humax to encrypt HD channels. Some enterprising soul may have found a way around that but I have not found THEM!</p>
