Think when you ordered this John, you were advised that an Android tablet would be much better. I have the older 8″ version of this Lenovo Android tablet and have had it for 3 years now, I love it:

      https://tinyurl.com/y2uldl59     £49.99, although the 8″ is a better tablet at £89.50.

There is an Android version of the Fusion5 at £42.47:     https://tinyurl.com/y3aybzxq

Thanks guys, I will migrate soon. Problems will start when I upgrade SWMBO’s laptop, which came with 10 or 7, so the 10 installation will be OK on that. But there will be screams of frustration until she learns how to deal with it. Son will get help from a friendly IT tutor at the school/academy group where he is head caretaker. Tutor is originally Romanian, has been naturalised for some time. My granddaughter is taught by him and says he is very good at his job. (If he wasn’t we would know about it!)

Have a great day and a satisfactory end to all your troubles Lee. Guess that would be the best present you could have.

Site is looking great btw, easier to use than ever on all my devices.

Sobering thoughts Ed. I intend to order prescriptions from my surgery website as soon as the “cannot order before” date has gone. Which in the case of my stoma pouches, is usually whilst I still have plenty. I will do the same with two medicines which are actually keeping me alive over the long term. The other, much more sobering scenario is that, without a constant supply of pouches, I would have to consider topping myself. Seriously.

Having in the past planned routes, vehicle packages and times for two large REME workshop moves, I understand your simulations. One breakdown or RTC can cause mayhem, adding to the effect of port delays. One move (and return after 6 months) was to take an Armoured Workshop, with an AAC contingent, from Wiltshire to Liverpool and across the Irish Sea to Belfast. It went off without a hitch but left me sleepless for a couple of nights. Another involved an aircraft Workshop from North Germany to the southernmost part of Bavaria, which took place every year in May. That turned into a nightmare when the driver of a huge POL* truck blew his mind out and reversed downhill into several other vehicles. I still think of that as the most hectic and scary day of my 12 years’ service. It did provide me with a promotion though.

*Petrol, Oil, Lubricants. The truck carried gallons of diesel, Lube oils and petrol, for refuels. How we did not have a huge fire, deaths and injuries, is a miracle. The driver was shipped off to a military hospital in the UK and we never saw or heard of him again.

Besides worry about the future for the next generation, I have great concerns about medicines. A No Deal Brexit is likely to result in shortages, however temporary these may be, is irrelevant to those of us whose lives depend upon it. Example: my stoma pouches are manufactured in Denmark and are imported into a Peterborough warehouse under the”Just in Time” usage. These are not items that have an alternative and they are absolutely necessary every day of my life. Another case where Brexit was not thought through.

Thanks Dave. I think I will reuse the 4800, it’s not a bad old card, he played the few games he likes on it using the old system. I was after a system with a bit of future proofing and something he could use to carry out his Stationary Engine Club admin more efficiently. That activity has really helped his dyslexia over the last few years, wonderful how much a computer can do that, as opposed to struggling with pen and paper. Although his writing has also improved enormously. At 51!

I am always amazed to see my 2001 Focus buzzing around locally. Of all 3 later Focus models, that was the best I drove and it was an ‘LX’ which was the basic model at the time. It survived junction interventions by 2 batty female drivers*, both incidents ripped the nearside wing and doors, which did not please my Gert much as she was in that front passenger seat. The 51 Focus has been with a guy around my age in Sutton on Sea ever since I left it at Motability and they moved it on. Must have clocked up some yardage in it now, but it still looks good.

*Not attacking all female drivers: my daughter is a very good driver, although she does tend to shout at other road users a lot. Granddaughter and my Gert reckon she gets that from me, rubbish say I, I am Mr Cool n the road.

This is described as a High-Value Business Laptop but I had to remove the whole back case to get at the HDD. This also involved prising the keyboard out as to stop complaints of bounce it’s now been secured with double sided sticky pads.

Dave my missus has a 3 yo B50-80. The only problem we have with that is ongoing: typing text in doc’s and websites starts jumping about.* I have visited every site I can find, starting with Lenovo UK and Lenovo Community, applied every “fix” posted everywhere and the problem always returns. As soon as I have finished building another system for my son, then removed Freesat and installed Amazon Fire TV, then refitted the DVD player, then recorded the vinyl albums she wants to the NAS for streaming, then the sundry other jobs SWMBO has lined up, I may get around to removing the Lenovo carp from her lappy and carrying out a new Windows install.

My 40+ great nephew was born just north of Aberdeen and now lives even further north, with his son and daughter (yes I have GT x2 nephers! Makes me feel even older!) He has climbed all the Munro’s 3 times and regularly MTB’s up and down any particular mountain that takes his fancy, MTB on his back for the difficult bits. His work is in the Oil Industry supply business and he really loves his country, which probably explains why he detests Sturgeon and the SNP. Probably the fittest person in our Williams branch, at least since I had to give up running 40 years ago.😊

His FB page usually features a selfie view from the summit of a height. There he lies, head on his MTB saddle, in T-shirt and jeans. If it’s winter he might wear a thick sweater and woolly hat. His eldest son now goes with him at times. He is 12.

                                I second Dwynne’s comment:

As far as I know all is working great with Forumite at the mo, just would also like to add that I do really like the new colour scheme and the clean uncluttered look that there is now. Very much easier to read.

I have visited this Topic occasionally without actually commenting, because IMHO the debate here has become circular. Now I feel the need to express my thoughts.

For me, the coach horses are out of control, since an idiot unelected by the British people, was given the reins.

Which other American-born national leader of a (supposed) democracy, fires or causes resignations amongst those he appointed to office when they do not agree with him, then ignores any other political and citizen voices in his own country which also contradict him?

“They call him Britain’s Trump” says the orange PoTUS.

He was correct. especially if you spell ‘trump’ without an upper case first letter and regard it as embarrassing, socially unacceptable, flatulence.

Thanks Ryan, I was going to do it that way and then decided to clone the spinner with Macrium and copy the whole clone to the SSD. Macrium used its Trim process to copy and it was all done within an hour. I already back up to a NAS, so I will install the spinner as music, video and photo storage. Those are the biggest space hogs now, and growing exponentially. Both drives will then be image backups to the NAS. Redundancy!

I have been offline for a while due to another PC problem: my son’s desktop, which kept shutting down. Initially No.2 gson “thought it was” the Thermaltake 500Watt PSU I fitted some time ago, without any testing, and replaced it with a cheapo generic item. Son then ran the desktop without noticing the cheapo PSU fan had died. I tested both PSU’s with my power tester: generic was indeed dead, probably soon after fitting. Thermaltake was fine, all rails good. Starting the PC revealed a message in the lower right corner “This copy of Windows is not genuine.*” After installing an old but legal Win7/64 Home that I had possessed for a few years, it ran happily through all the zillions of updates since SP1 and died again. Atm, I have just stripped out the PhenomII X4 CPU, cleaned it, replaced the crumbling thermal paste and refitted. My last step will be to clone his spinner and copy it to a 1TB Hdd. But before the thing last died, I had noticed a new message in Device Manager, that the USB Controller had failed. I will download this from Gigabyte UK. If it’s still dying, it’s time for a visit to WEE and a new Bundle: nothing too fancy.

                                      *He’s a very naughty boy!

Belated Happy Birthday Dwynne, sorry I missed it but been having PC problems similar to yours in your later thread.

Hope you had a real good day. The chocolates are the answer left when you reach a certain age and have nothing you really want: better than socks, shirts and all other clothing which is inevitably the wrong fit. I have two shirts and three sweaters in my wardrobe which I cannot yet give to a charity shop! I usually choose a family meal and insist upon a Group Hug afterwards.
