Thanks guys (Ahem! Polishes fingernails on coat lapels) but this morning I was targeted with the second password, finally ended granddad’s taxi run 2 hours ago. 🙁

It all began with a SWMBO mission and a trip to Grimsby to buy a new steam iron, using the £50 Currys voucher that I erroneously believed was mine to waste. As the only one her Maj fancied was a Display version and was the only one not in stock, that would have been a wasted journey. Then Herself texted No.2 gson and offered a lift home from Grimsby College (without driver consultation). On the way home, “You need a haircut, so does he. Take him home then you might as well pickup (No.1 gson) and take him home too.” This all involved a total round trip of some 80+ miles. Finally on my way home expecting tea, when I received a text instruction to return to Louth and fetch a takeaway because “..all this running about means I took nothing out for tea.” My life could be a TV sitcom…

Lesser men would wilt under the strain. I merely buckle slightly and carry on.   😉   B-)

Ed, I think the YT link to “Yes PM” down in Promoted Comments, has a little more to say. I had forgotten just how good that programme was.

            Not likely Doc. ?

Anyway nothing north of Watford exists for most Londoners. The cleaner air up here would make them dizzy.

Thanks a bunch for that Steve, I set it up and will test it out tomorrow, also getting a 3 data sim later. The tablet only works with a micro sim I am told by Lenovo. I am looking into that.

You are the go-to guy!

Thanks to all who chipped in with advice, I will get back to you tomorrow. :bye:

Thanks Doc I will get one of those, I have an Optical so that’s a supa find. Thanks Ed I haven’t seen a small switch, not to say there isn’t one. I will give a good probe. Not at the moment, as I can’t bend down.

I know that problem well John!

You will be better off with an optical connection anyway: sometimes other connections give audio/video sync problems. Lips are saying one thing, speech is saying something else. That’s what I found with HDMI to my sound bar, I bought a Toslink cable and cured it. :yahoo:

I knew that about Maggie Bob. I’m not much of a whiskey drinker, in my late teens early 20s I couldn’t stand the stuff. Apparently its a scotch fans dream.

When I could ( 😥  ) drink alcohol Steve, I used to like Irish whisky, usually Jameson’s, it seems smoother to me, must be the Irish bog peat. SWMBO and I also liked to have the occasional Irish Coffee at home: I can make a really good Irish Coffee. There is a bottle of Jamesons in the cupboard, about ¼ full, been there over 2 years.

                      Which Mazda model Dan?

My daughter and her partner love Mazdas. He has a 626 diesel (older model, can’t remember the Reg) and dd has a 2005 Mazda 2, which she has owned for about 5 years now and loves. His 626 has been nothing but trouble, currently has a fuel leak which could not be traced by 3 garages. I found it coming from the breather pipe and rearranged the pipe to feed back into the tank. It had cooling leaks which started with a new rad, then water pump and began overheating. I found the usual: garage had not bled the system properly. Took me about 15 minutes to rectify and refill with anti freeze. He went back and gave the garage hell – “If my disabled 71 yo FIL here, can rectify the fault you caused, how good are you?”

He was refunded some of the bill. My SIL listens to me more than SWMBO does. Come to think of it, so does everyone else… :negative:

Lol Robin yes every village indeed but please don’t get me on the Iron (Hearted) Lady. Did you know that she had a degree in Food Technology? And that she was the inventor of Soft (Mr Whippy/Mr Softee) ice cream? No, don’t laugh, it’s true. Only someone like Maggie T, would invent a technology which pumps air into a child’s favourite treat, in order to increase the volume of the product, whilst decreasing the actual volume of the necessary ingredients. She even held the patent, which may explain her rise in the Tory ranks. She was independently very wealthy, the only rewarding grace for me is that she had no idea what all her money was for, at the end. Or who she was, for that matter.

I knew Calverton quite well in my teenage years, one of my – er – female acqaintances was married to a guy there, divorced him a few years later and became a gf between leaving the Army and finding the current Mrs Bob. As a teenager and in my twenties, I used to frequent the Miners’ Welfare there.

I had friends in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverkeithing, which is where two of the greatest friends I ever made used to live. I met them in the Army and they supported me through a nasty breakup. I was godfather to their eldest, but I lost contact when they emigrated to Oz.

Steve my brother used to go up to his son’s place in Stonehaven on the East Coast, then the pair of them used to take off for an Adventure Break on the West Coast and the Islands. This adventure usually took the form of touring various distilleries and sampling the products “for research purposes”. I don’t think the weather really hampered their ‘research’ much…

Bob, Old Timer needs a PS2 keyboard for his PS2 KVM, that’s what this is all about. My argument is that at some stage the PS2 KVM is going to have to be retired, might as well be now. The K250 being wireless wouldn’t be appropriate here any way, but on a general discussion about these things I do like Logitech kit and Microsoft do some very good stuff too. I only own 1 wireless input device, the Logitech M557 mouse I use with the T420 laptop. I much prefer wired with desktops.

Got it wrong Steve, it’s a K290 not a 250.  I won’t have a wireless KB or mouse on the desktop, although SWMBO’s laptop has one, also a Logitech. The only time I am allowed near that is when something goes wrong (or looks wrong/different/difficult   🙁 ) So I cannot remember the model.

I had forgotten about the KVM, I have one in the BitsBox somewhere and have not used it for a long time. Think you are right – why would anyone need it nowadays, too many better alternatives.

I was born in Nottingham Robin, grew up in a pit village near Mansfield. Have a gt-nephew up past Aberdeen in a place called Rothienorman. Beautiful when it’s not raining or covered in snow! His deceased  dad my nephew (only 5 years younger than me) went to Aberdeen for the Oil business at 18, developed his own welding shop and had his first job welding the “legs & feet” onto rigs. He spent the rest of his life up there in Stonehaven, heart attack at 51 and was buried there. I went up a few times, his funeral was something else. My greeting at the pub I stayed for a few days was “Would you be related to oor mad wee pet Sassenach?”

Steve I now use a Logitech K250 Comfort KB, better for my Rheumatoid. The MS one I gave to my monster No.2 gson, KB still going well. If it stands up to his massive mitts, it must be a good ‘un.

oldtimer, there is this on Fleabay:     https://tinyurl.com/jy7pj88     £5.99 mouse & KB, can’t be bad.

Dave, I have a hazy recollection that I had similar problems way back, but buying a complete set of KB & mouse, made for each other, was fine.

I recall that my 9 year old Panasonic 32″ HDTV had zillions of out- and inputs, including RCA stereo. I plugged in my Hitach HFi with the red and white RCA leads and boosted the weedy TV sound from 20W per channel to 50. Did that without telling SWMBO and almost blew her ears off when I switched to “Aux”. Had to cook me own tea that evening…

Skeggy has a Station Robin, but I actually prefer either Cleethorpes or Sutton on Sea. As we live near Louth, roughly equidistant from Cleethorpes and Skeggy, and Sutton is just down the road at about 11 miles, it’s whichever we feel like at the time. Sutton is more ‘genteel’ and quieter, miles of beach from Mablethorpe (ugh!) all the way down to Ingoldmells and Skeggy anyway. Wonderful out of season, miles of beach on a sunny winters day. Cleethorpes is actually where locals go and is friendlier.

Cleethorpes has the more Northern rail services (Pennine Rail) and Skeggy the East Midlands.

Sorry, I should have written that better it was his wife’s mobility car, but she passed, he was the named driver as she couldn’t. Hence after it went back he had to get a car and ins by himself.

Oh I see: that would be a blow, I understand his problem better now. My misus would not ever contemplate driving, never had a licence and at 70 I can’t ever see her taking a Prov. licence, although she gets DLA Mobility same as me. Which is another point: if I fall from my current perch, she will be able to afford taxis, or take a car (as registered Keeper) and name one of the kids as a driver. Although she has a Bus Pass, they are a rare sight around here. Example – to get to Skegness, from Lincoln:

Wait for the Louth bus to come into Lincoln bus station, hope it gets to Louth before the Mablethorpe bus has to leave. If that bus is in at Louth, catch it and hope to get to Mablethorpe before the Skegness bus leaves. One traffic incident can blow all of this apart and pssengers are left waiting, sometimes for a couple of hours. If it’s after 19:30 hours in Louth, you ain’t gonna get to Skeggy tonight. Ah, the joys of a rural public transport service.

John there must be a Model Number on the rear of the TV, can you find it? Might be able to source the correct manual and therefore the correct Ports.

Damn, I just reread your post about not seeing the Model No. Sorry!
