I have osteo- and Rheumatoid arthritis and I long ago stopped taking anything. Every single treatment they gave me had gastric consequences. Ulcers, reflux, the lot. I still have reflux, a hiatus hernia and have to take a double dose of Lansaprazole due to the Barrett’s Oesophagus that also gave me. IMO some of the nostrums that GP’s inflict upon us are either experimental (See what happens when he takes this) or at the behest of the all-powerful drug companies, all of which make stratospheric profits and have massive clout with governments. When you have an hour to spare, get out your prescription drugs and read the enclosed “side effects” leaflet. Scary.
I meditate, after being taught how to do so by a very good HK Chinese mate. Nothing else helps me more. I welcome the warmer weather and love living near the sea, where I can get into the North Sea and walk (HA! Walk?) through warm sand. My orthopaedic stick has to be replaced every couple of years, as it does not like salt water much. 30+ miles of Lincolnshire beaches, always somewhere to get away from the Grockles.
All you fervent MTBikers should keep an eye on developments here. The Council is going to develop a Lincolnshire Coast Path: I have seen the plans in local libraries and it will include a big stretch of the Lincolnshire Coastline, for walkers and cyclists. Miles of cycle tracks. Link: https://tinyurl.com/m72v65m

I'm out.I have spoken here before about my ongoing efforts to get all my CD & Vinyl collection organised, onto the NAS and backed up. I have literally hundreds of 1,000’s of tracks, it will take me until the end of this year to finish, because I do like to suddenly up sticks and leg to a beach or some other spot we love.
The only downloads I have are a few albums and selected tracks from Amazon music, although I have begun choosing certain albums that are favourites and buying the CD’s in DSD Remastered form. That is one area where I have to admit, that the very best record deck and audio equipment, could not compete.
I have so much music that I have to be sorely tempted to buy anything “new”. I am looking for one vinyl LP for a band I sang with in the very early 60’s. They were originally “The Stormcats” and morphed into “The Mansfields” which tells you where the group (a band in prehistoric times) members hailed from. Both band names have been appropriated by others, after the originals broke up as I gradually faded out in’63 and ’64 then joined the Army. I wanted to do more Blues and R’n’B, lead guitar (rich kid) wanted to do carp like Ricky Nelson & Bobby Vee. We recorded one LP on which I sang a S**t hot version of Johnny Kidd singing “Shakin’ All Over” and some Chuck Berry/Stones stuff. The problem is that I cannot remember the LP Title!
I cudda bin famous, me… B-)

I'm out.TY for the replies guy’s. A problem shared is a problem halfed and based on your replies giving me food for though it looks like most of it is down to jealousy. Hey ho they are all a bunch of tossers, as there nothing big and clever about me. I just strive.

Take it on the chin, Keef, come up smiling!

I'm out.Sometimes you don’t have to actually do anything.
If your antagonist is your OH, and female, then attempting to battle feminine (lack of) logic does not work. They march to a different drum and music from the pipes they hear, is beyond the reach of the male ear. Good Grief, that rhymes!
Go with the flow and make sympathetic noises, but watch the face closely. All their feelings flash across their expressions, you have to be quick with an interpretaion.
I often get it wrong: one reason why I have applied to rehome a retired Guide dog. Another oldphart to share blame and/or empathise with.
Unless we get a bitch……. 🙁 But I love my SWMBO dearly, really.

I'm out.Well I have spent most of this day in bed, until about 3:45 I think, went down about 10:15 last night, had 3 hours solid, got up, watched some stored pogrammes, went back at 4:45 this morning and fast asleep until 3:45. So I have only just rejoined the debate.
Sleep is something I look upon as Natural Medicine, always have. If I can’t sleep for my regular 6 hours, I am akin to a Grizzly crawling out of his den after a hard hibernation. Today I am all sweetness and light. 🙂 😉
Richard is correct: all the details of the attacker, were leaked by some camel turd in the USA, to NBC and CBS, probably for monetary reward. The fact that UK security were trying to draw out his contacts by a pretence of not knowing his ID, does not matter to these people. Had it been ITV or (shudder) the Sun or Mail, those outlets would have been in serious trouble. However, it is a fact that the UK media has been just as guilty of similar exposures in the past. TM the PM should send an open letter to CBS & NBC, to the effect that any more deaths and injuries caused by their actions, will be laid at their door. If the Security Services do not find his cell members in time to avoid another atrocity here, they will be at fault.
Today I was horrified by a post on FB advocating “Deport all Muslims NOW!” Horrified, because it was posted by a close relative. I asked him if that included nurses, doctors, surgeons, police officers, emergency workers, the smashing couple who live next door to his cousin and help her stroke-afflicted husband in and out of the car, and those Muslim taxi drivers who took people wherever they needed to go, for free. His answer: “Give me a solution then!” I told him: there isn’t one, not all people are alike and all most people of any culture, race or religion want, is to live in peace and have the best life they can provide for their families. Just like you, in fact. No response as yet.
Richard thank you for your kind words. I don’t feel great yet, but I am on the mend.

I'm out.I have Powercleaner on my WileyFox. It collects all Notifications, shows them and gives the option of removing them. If I remove them, it then cleans up and can even reduce CPU heat by (I think) slowing it down if it’s in the Red.

I'm out.As an aside, I received an Alert from Lincs. Police regarding an opportunist scam from what appears to be a Microsoft Antimalware team. They email victims with a “cure” for Wannacry. When the victim responds and sends money, the scammer sends them a link to download.
Hey-Ho, it’s the latest Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool – KB8908830. Maybe if the ‘victims’ carried out Update procedures occasionally….
GOOD NEWS though! Today there was an email in my Junk folder, awarding me first prize of $35,000 US in a Facebook competition. All I have to do, is send them the following details, blah blah and blah. Strangely, Facebook appears to know nothing about it, but they are “grateful” for the details I sent after “View Message Source” and sending it to FB. So, do I get a reward? Not.
Well, it makes a change from “Adult Dating” offers. I don’t bother responding to that, as SWMBO says I will never be an adult and no one else will have me anyway. :yahoo:

I'm out.I see you did this Dwynne:
” Removed mobo battery and discharged BIOS with jumper – 24+ hours – replace – no difference. ”
Does that mean you replaced the mobo battery with a new CR 2032? They are available everywhere: I needed two for another gadget and bought a card of 4 Panasonic’s from Wilko’s. That came good when a mate’s old desktop (I mean old: beige box) had been stored for years, would not resus, stuck a CR2032 in, left it plugged in 24 hours and it lived again.

I'm out.Too late for that. There will be, and already is, a wedge between us and our neighbours. Indeed, that’s exactly what some people voted for.
Admitted and agreed Jason, but we do not need to top that by any further antagonism towards our neighbours. We still have more friends across the Channel and the North Sea than most people realise. My hope is for a cooling-down in the war of words between Westminster and the EU. And I voted Remain: the more I see, the more I know that I was right to do so.
If there is one bunch whose sole reason for existence has gone, it is UKIP, but they are still pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I'm out. Some of us are getting angry at each other’s words here, that is just plain not right. If I have annoyed or upset anyone here, please accept my apology. I speak from experience, without realising that my experiences may not be shared by others.
No excuse for upsetting friends I have found here, but I am also having a bad-health day.

I'm out. Here are the facts as we know them for now:
Islamic State has admitted responsibility.
There have been raids and an arrest in Fallowfield of a 23 yo man, with a controlled explosion, possibly at his address. A witness there has stated that “There were about 20 people living there.” The Police know the identity of the dead attacker but will not release this information. He is said to be ” either British or from the UK.”
An 8 yo girl is among the dead. 12 children under 16 are amongst the 59 casualties taken to various hospitals.
There have been raids upon flats in Chorlton.
A sickening development, is the appearance of “fake Tweets” regarding fictitios ‘missing’ relatives. I have absolutely no feeling for these people: they are IMO as bad and as criminal as any terrorist.
Messages of sympathy have poured in from all over the world. All 28 flags of EU nations in Brussels are at half mast.

I'm out.Ed the terrorists we have to deal with atm ARE Muslims. …..
Wrong Bob, totally wrong. This is like saying that all Christians are Seventh Day Adventists. At least one third of Muslims do not share many of the core beliefs of the Sunnis. Even for those of the Sunni branch the majority do not share the same interpretations of the Koran as the Salafists. By failing to name the Saudi/Qatari backed Salafist Extremists as our enemies we alienate the majority of Muslims. Unfortunately we and the Americans kow-tow to the arms dealers and shy away from pinning blame where it truly resides. Richard I disagreed that you had made a racist remark, sectarian maybe.
Ed you have taken the wrong stance. I said that the terrorists we have to deal with are Muslim, because that is the religion that the fundamentalists profess to follow. Certain of their leaders twist the words of the Q’ran in order to achieve unquestioning obedience and commit acts like this horror. I am quite aware of the different paths taken by the followers of Muhammed their prophet, having several Muslim friends and also having served in the Middle East. Just as I am aware that there are several different Christian sects, after being one of the “piggies in the Middle” during the Toubles.
The fact is that the terrorist enemy we face is Islamic. The PC brigade can twist and turn around that fact, but it is true. But I do not hold ALL Islamists responsible, only the actual terrorists and those who support them, or do not help the authorities to pick them out. If I was anti-Muslim, I would not have my mate Ibrahim calling me today in tears and saying how much HE hates these despicable people. You can talk to me about Sunnis, Shi’ites and Salafists all you like, but it changes nothing. The evil people who engineered and carried out this attack were Muslim. You cannot deny that.

I'm out.Steve your lad made a valuable point. I take your point about a grenade: we both know exactly what effect that would have of course. However, some speculation has thrown up a couple of valid points.
One witness was helping others while probably going quietly insane with worry, waiting for his wife and daughter to contact him. He said that, if the perpetrator had waited longer, the performance was almost over and the foyer would have been packed with people, many more children amongst them.
Another source has said that it is possible that the perpetrator had been pressured into taking the IED and carrying out the attack. This scenario is possible, holding his family hostage perhaps.
Richard, you are correct about the effect upon the services who have to deal with the aftermath of something like this. In my case, some of my experiences have come around to haunt me years later, but I was a young soldier and had been trained to deal with situations like that. In the case of emergency workers, some will be older , some middle aged and many will be parents. A few will be so traumatised that they will give up the work. Some of that may not happen for years. But even as someone trained, a first encounter with severe injuries, especially to children, can seriously mess up your head.

I'm out.Much of the debate here, demonstrates my fears and explains why I voted Remain. I know I am returning to flog that horse again and it will never take up the traces again, but I was voting for my grandchildren’s future, in my opinion.
As for the coming election, I still have no idea here to put my cross. Yesterday SWMBO and I visited a beautiful Garden:
It was just the place to remind you what a beautiful country we live in, with the kind of people who can take a derelict site and use their hard work and imagination to build something that just takes away your breath. It was the most peaceful, calming place I have ever visited and it sits in the middle of the most wonderful green. Lincolnshire countryside, with those big skies of Lincolnshire shining down an almost cloudless blue. How do we defend this place and those people with our vote?
It is no longer true that we get the government we deserve. No one is saying anything remotely usable or useful to the British public, which might make us say ‘yes, that’s the kind of government I want, I’ll vote for that.’ All they want to do is attack each other from several different viewpoints.

I'm out.Ed the terrorists we have to deal with atm ARE Muslims. Everyone is skating delicately around that as a matter of Political Correctness. The problem is that the Islamic community in this country is either too afraid or just disinclined, to help the authorities by giving their names and activities. I count several Muslims as friends, one of whom is very close. I have a niece with a husband who suffered a paralysing stroke and can do very little for himself: her neighbours, a young Muslim couple, help my niece with caring for him. They carry him into and out of the car, they are fine people and I am quite aware that the majority of Muslims are like that. Unfortunately, the fundamentalists are not and they are growing in number.
To be completely OTT: you don’t believe that a Quaker or a Salvation Army soldier was responsible, do you? I know we wait for ID on the perpetrator of this terrible atrocity, but which other belief system would he follow?
We have a social cancer in our society. It is time for the West, the Russians and Chinese to get together and cut it out.

I'm out.Shocked at my own reaction as I stared at the scenes on TV this morning, tears running down my face. Then I realised that it had brought back N.I. in the 70’s. I experienced too may scenes like that for real and I think being directly involved in the aftermath, gives no time to be shocked at the time. I was young then too, and angry at the evil buggas who carry out these atrocities, but just as angry at the media who waved microphones and cameras at us squaddies trying to help, plus victims and onlookers. Steve is right about the media: they cry crocodile tears whilst making up copy for the next edition.
I am not making a racist comment here and no one has AFAIK admitted responsibility, but I would not be a Muslim on the streets of Manchester today. Taking out children is despicable, I saw enough of that in N.I. An explosive device is indiscriminate, but this has to be aimed at a specific target.
I have never forgotten trying to save the life of a young girl with both legs blown off. I failed. That kind of thing stays with you and today it caught up with me: I learned afterwards that she was an 11 yo Catholic.
I’m having a bad health day too, waiting for a surgery call-back.
