Both of those are brilliant, cracked up, spilled my coffee, missed the KB though.

      I am not amused!

I never have a problem with Outlook/Live Mail, and have sent some big files with large pic’s. Sometimes I reduce the pic sizes, for the reason Drezha quotes:

However, your receiver has to accept large attachments and most people I deal with at work can only accept 20Mb

I think it’s a good point to think about who you are sending to. Sometimes the biggest companies have the most miserly acceptance sizes. My landlord has a really dumb Repairs Reporting website: asks for photos of a repair problem and will not accept anything over 20Mb. This is one of the largest Social landlords in the UK.

They died happy doing God’s work. ?

… but the pay and conditions were terrible. Wonder if God accepts a TUC presence in Heaven? ??

Angels in a Union. Just throwing it out there, might ask the Archbishop of Cant. Can’t ask a local Vicar, she moved down to a richer Southern Parish, all we have is a churchwarden. Ladies & gentlemen, God has left the building. ??

Brings back memories of my psycho mother finding my stock of Titbits and Reveille, discreetly (!) hidden under my bed. Absolute bedlam, beaten around the head with a pan, until dad stopped it.

I did not have a motherly mother: when I was 15 I was getting very explicit letters from a 17 yo – ahem – girl. Mother intercepted the last one and I got a lecture, no beating now because I would have taken her head off and she knew it, I’d had enough. But it meant I had to wait a bit longer before I could find out what all the fuss was about, if you know what I mean.

I also had a laugh at that Isle of White report, Steve. It’s usually a Council muppet who makes those kinds of mistakes, but it occured to me the Asda employee who copied the childrens’ design, might have copied it as the kids wrote it. If so, there is something wrong with education in the IoW, when kids cannot even spell the name of their own home area correctly. And something wrong with the Asda employee, who probably originates from, and was educated in, the IoW.

Nothing against the IoW btw: been there on holiday several times and love it. I was there in 1969 for the best music festival I ever attended. 1970 was bloody awful, over half a million there and it was mud pies, too few bogs which were blocked anyway. It broke the organisers, I believe. We few squaddies in attendance were up on the hill in our own 4-man tent both times, also dug our own toilets and defended them. ’69 had the best performances, ’70 the best sound system but some really crap acts. If the Army had known where we were, we would have been nicked: we were all instructed to never attend Rock concerts and festivals. We travelled to Lymington, then back on the Ferry.

            Ahhhhhh! Nostalgia!

Thanks Nolan, I will get that to gd, met her and daughter today for lunch. Of course I got “Granddad, why did you not wait until I could sort it out?”

I felt old and dispensable. ?☹

Then she told me that her dad had no clue how to use YT, or indeed anything on the PC. “He struggles with his phone, granddad, I have to show him. He can’t use a computer like you can.”

              I felt slightly better.

Religion does not touch me, confirmed non-believer. Just yesterday we had a bunch of Freakies around this Senior Ghetto, knocking on doors and asking if we had let God into our lives. I chased them off, after telling them that we had a beautiful Christian church about 200 yards away and if He wasn’t working today, he would be there on Sunday. Then told them this is Sheltered Housing (it’s not, not anymore) and they cannot knock on our doors, but can push leaflets through for us to recycle.

Exit one bunch of religious Freakies, stage left.

I like cathedrals, but when I enter one I always think of all the peasants who built it and died early.

It’s called “Entire history of the world I guess“. I have to say that this 12 yo has a networking engineer big brother who has just realised that his baby sister is very bright and very capable on t’internet. They have begun working together remotely and the rest of us cannot keep up. So I have no idea where and how she found this, but it is quite funny as well as educational. It seems that kids today need their education fast and funny.

If this fails, I have to wait for gd. It’s probably going to be “Easy-Peasy, granddad.” It usually is… ???

It’s even worse when you think about all the Councils and other organisations who have to have translations in who knows how many languages. Every document and online form has a translation in many languages. Then there’s the police, who have to have a Translation phone service for all the criminals imported from the EU that they bring into custody, plus various other crim’s from all over the world. This must cost the country £millions a year.

We are too soft in the UK, I don’t think the rest of the EU has the same services. And I voted Remain!

I saw the August 1999 one in west Wales, on our wedding anniversary holiday. I can see what effect it might have upon people centuries ago, but nowadays even the poorest Third World countries can access some form of knowledge about the cause. US Rednecks and Creationists are a different story though…

I have dug out the German chart of Historic Solar Eclipses and found a few. The 2005 “partial” was a nothing here and for some reason I cannot even remember seeing the 2006 partial. 2008 there was a total but it must have been a bust, I don’t recall seeing it. Same for the 2011 partial.

There will be 2 partials for the UK in 2 consecutive years: August 12 2026 and August 2 2027. Next Total for England will be October 7, 2035. If I am still on my perch, I will probably be raving at the government for not building enough nuclear power stations and causing blackouts!??

Not bothered about seeing another, TBH. But I knew you knew, just extracting the urine.?

I just found a chart online, details no different to the one I have: https://tinyurl.com/yc482qp2    – Enjoy! ?

Now I have a headache, Ed!

Flat Earthers can never explain why, if it is flat and also rotating, centripetal and centrifugal force means that different areas of the Earth should be rotating at different speeds. And anything not heavily nailed-down at the Poles, would fly off, followed eventually by everything else. Then point out that there is a horizon, and why there is a horizon. Those objections make them search for more nonsensical explanations, but then you can get technical and geological on their asses, and watch their brains implode.

And yes, I met one once. Surprisingly, he was German, of the WWII generation, and extremely pedantic. As I totally destroyed his argument in front of other Germans, he ended by saying that my German was poor, to which another German retorted that it was better than HIS English.

Idiocy is international. A pleasing thought..

The orbit of the moon comes between the path of the Earth’s orbit and the Sun. The distance from Earth to Sun is 92,960,000 miles and the distance from Earth to moon is ‘only’ 238.900 miles. Therefore the Sun, which is massively larger than the Moon, can be eclipsed by the Moon, being very much farther away from the Earth.

Or maybe it’s the Man in the Moon taking the p***. I could never make up my mind. But it’s definitely not The Rapture, I don’t care what Donald Trump’s followers say.

??Know you mean that this way Steve,   ?  but: –

The “great British car industry”, and Honda:

Rover and Honda had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ which included both using Pressed Steel Fisher for the vehicle bodies. That’s why a lot of Rovers had the same bodies as many Hondas. Then along came BMW to offer Rover a marriage and off went Rover with the new German groom. Honda being an “honourable” company in the Japanese mould, saw this as an insult upon their honour and promptly bought PSF 100%. Think the BMW deal included buying the Mini name at that time, not sure about that though, may be another, later deal.

The Rover 800 series had been named “Most beautiful car in the World” by the prestigious Italian motoring press and sales began to affect the Beamers. So BMW and ZF decided that their gearboxes were in short supply and had none to spare for the 800 series. Rover could not afford to develop their own gearbox. At the same time, Rover management was doing what British management often did: being incompetent and behaving like ostriches. The Rover company died. Honda continues to sell cars all over the world. Japanese (and now Korean ☺) cars succeeded then and now, because they offer more for less.

That’s interesting Nolan. I felt similarly about the first Honda car I drove: one of the first Civics, in the late 70’s. I was servicing it for a customer. Opening the bonnet, I was struck by the 1.2 (1170 I think) engine. Looked very much like a bike engine. Transverse, made to compete with the Mini, although it was ahead of it in many ways and the radio was not an Extra! Road-tested it: light and felt quick on the road, very free-revving. The evolution of the Civic car has done nothing for it IMO.
