Nolan I apologise very much for the crap comments I made. There is no excuse, but at the time I was in deep pain and discomfort. I really should not take things out on people I have come to regard as friends. Please accept my apology in the spirit it is meant.
Ed and Richard, thank you for your words. Sympathy is definitely not what I want or need: there is one distant cousin whose words drip from the phone like treacle. She means well, but …..

I'm out.Guys I know you are both suffering, but imagine having to deal with terminal cancer, concurrent with osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. Some days I don’t know which bit hurts most! Besides my usual antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, I am on 50mcg Longtec (long lasting) Morphine every 12 hours, with a 10mcg quick acting every 4 hours. I don’t know whether I am on the floor or the ceiling. And having two b****y great drainage bags hanging from open wounds, doesn’t help. I get nurses twice a day, who are simply great. They come between 5 and 7 pm to connect me to TPM intravenous feed bags: I have not eaten anything since May 2020. There is no digestive equipment left. The nurse returns between 5 and 7 am to remove the TPM, which lives in a wheeled buggy.
My missus has been golden and looks after me very well. How did I ever find such a basically good wife?

I'm out.India’s 1.25 billion* people are ‘other-directed’ by several versions of religious belief. It is a kind of lunacy in my eyes, to disregard the advice of medical science, and carry on having huge funerals. The Ganges and other rivers considered to be holy, are presently choked with bodies. May sound harsh to some, but perhaps they are sowing the seeds of their own genocide. If they could manage to take a large slice of China’s 1.5* billion with them, well that’s solving overpopulation pressure, is it not?
*your guess is as good as mine.

I'm out.Her mouth and what she says, are the biggest enemy of Scottish Independence. Those words are spoken by my Scots relatives. But I still believe that the Scottish people should decide their own future.

I'm out.“…especially the Big Soup style ones which are like a casserole… ”
I recommend Cross & Blackwell Beef & Veg or Roast Chicken. Also there is Baxter’s Chicken Broth, very tasty. As I can no longer eat, these are the two soups I really miss. The C&B soups are more like a meal, a big tin, but they don’t need a lot of chewing, unlike Heinz Beef & Veg.
Of course, if you have a blender, you could whip up some soups and broths yourself, but they would need to be well mixed to help with chewing.
From Ed: ” The Law Society will only act after the internal review is completed. ” – good advice, I missed that bit.

I'm out.“we will suspend the action for enforcement of the Court Order for possession made in respect of the property which you are currently occupying.”
A small victory and a possible delaying tactic. But you could also contact the Law Society to make an independent complaint Lee: –
Good luck mate, hope the abscess gets better.

I'm out.I was last there in ’98, in my second Motability lease: a Corsa 1.4 automatic. We stayed in the shadow of the Tor, in a cottage on the Levels. Beautiful area, but what we had not known about was the winter floods. All drained away, but the track leading to the cottage had sunk, leaving the centre stones high. Scraped the Corsa’s bum a few times, when I returned home I asked the Vauxhall dealer to check it out. No problems, but the sump and gearbox casing had been scraped. That ’98 Corsa was the hardest ride I have experienced, glad to change it, for a Nissan Almera 1.8. Which was a better car than the motoring media gave credit to at the time. Charlie the dog loved it!

I'm out.3 times called by “The National Crime Agency” yesterday and today to wife’s mobile, today to the landline. Blocked them of course, but SWMBO lost her cool and told them what she thought. Landline was taken by me and I put them on Hold for 5 minutes, then politely asked if I had wasted enough of their scamming time, or would they like a longer wait? They hung up.
This generation of scammers has no stamina….

I'm out.If that policy was adopted in the UK, how many benefits scroungers would be rioting? Not referring to those who are in real need of benefits,* but we all know someone to whom the word “scrounger” applies.
I agree that overpopulation is the main cause of human problems, but the Chinese can afford to speak from the viewpoint of a numbers on the ground situation.
*Like myself!

I'm out.Did it today online of course. A very good website, with clear, easy to understand instructions and data boxes. My dyslexic son was worried by the form, but found the online version easy. He texted “Dunit thanks” in response to offers of help.

I'm out.I don’t think nature would win after a nuclear exchange between, say, NATO and the Russian Federation though, Nolan. With the exception of North Korea, MAD* is the only factor preventing that.
*Mutually Assured Destruction: has been guiding the thoughts of all nuclear-armed nations for decades. It’s the real deterrent.

I'm out.I used to think of Morgan as one of the few TV presenters with a fully developed pair of cojones. However, I now believe that he has reached the stage of his ego being many times the size of his stones. I don’t think he can expect to attract offers from any morally and legally correct broadcaster.
The sad thing is that he has given ammunition to those organisations on the Left, that can now use his outbursts to promote their skewed causes.

I'm out.Interesting link Dave, I was a little flummoxed by the “BBC5” mention, until I realised it was Radio5 Live. Thought my TV was missing a channel there for a moment!
Yet again, a tiny sector of the population receives advantages beyond the reach of the rest.

I'm out.In almost every century, there have been allegations concerning the parentage of an heir to the throne, based upon the physical appearance of said heir. Genetic links have become tenuous over time, often to the point of being difficult to sustain a realistic connection. Possibly only the Hanoverians have retained the longest successive inheritance. Which is almost a joke, as their connection to the previous line is almost invisible. The Plantagenets may be said to have a longer true inheritance, but there are far too many skeletons in that particular cupboard.
Centuries of an inherited monarchy, is just BS. I recall a TV programme some years ago, in connection with the discovery of Richard III’s remains. The programme set out to find genetic links to the last of the Plantagenets. They found a British immigrant to Australia, who had been there many years, made a good life, but was still called a ‘Pom’ by his Aussie mates. Iirc, he said that he would not swap his present life for being King.

I'm out.DNA and Gene inheritance is a rocky road. We were 3 brothers (I am the only one left). Senior was very much like my maternal grandparents: dark hair, tanned to an almost mahogany shade in summer. No.2 Bro inherited features from mother’s side: ginger, lots of freckles, had to use sun cream but tanned OK with it.
Then me. I took bits from them all: same shade as Big Bro after enough sun*. Some freckles, a lighter shade of dark hair, with a weird reddish streak through the left side. All my nephews and nieces were different heights and colouring. One sadly deceased nephew looked just like my dad. His sister, last of 7, looks more and more like my mam as she ages, but is about a foot taller.
In all the Harry parentage debate, no one has pointed out the number of ancestors with blonde or fair hair.
*In 1962 I had just returned from 3 months around the Med. I was definitely mahogany. Told by a barman in a posh West End hotel that “we don’t serve your sort here”. He wound up wearing our two pints, after we convinced him I was not what he thought I was…..
Of course those were the times of unconscious racism. Bob Dylan was yet to blow in the wind and change the times.

I'm out.As a 2nd rate TV ‘star’, Megan is well aware of the old Showbiz adage: “No such thing as bad publicity.”
As an actress schooled in Holywood, she is able to portray one totally different emotion after another. Observe how soon that (admittedly beautiful) face returns to a hard look around the eyes. Charles should have given Harry the advice our dad gave his 3 lads: “Don’t fall for a Film Star. All your friends will be * as attracted as you are.”
That interview was one false note after another, in a tuneless and artificial performance.
*Actually dad said “sniffing around” lol.
