re. 1.   – I have one of these

      http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/solar-powered-12v-15w-battery-auto-trickle-charger-l58bf

which I leave on the (south facing) dash in our second car [which doesn’t get much use over the winter] plugged in via the cigar lighter socket .  Seems to work OK

          Which E6600 is it ? A 2.4 GHz Core2 Duo E6600 or a 3.06 GHz Pentium E6600 ?

          Core 2 Duo.

Shame – the Pentium E6600 has a slightly better  S/H value.

As EdP says – remember to check and switch System Restore back on (if necessary) after Win 10 has done any updates !

Just did the laptop (as a test) to 1703 (15603.0) using an ISO, and it all went well.

A further Cumulative Update then took it to 1703 (15603.13)

That P4 should be OK 🙂

Both those Pentium Ds (when available) from CEX are £2.25 plus postage – so under a fiver delivered.

On the bay they are about £12 ??

AFAIK the best you can fit is what you stated.  Pentium D 950 (or D945 –  both 4M Cache, 3.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, D945 cheaper to run, but the D950 has virtualization technology)

As always the superb Calibre pogram and ApprenticeAlf plugin make all the ebooks and ereaders platform independent.

I was told that the new version of Kindle for PC (1.19) doesn’t use the AZW ebook format that Calibre knows how to read. Instead, it uses the new KFX ebook format—which AFAIK nothing else can yet read or convert ?

Have you considered Pale Moon for Linux ? I use the Windows version.

                                      http://linux.palemoon.org/

Not as bloated as FF, but still very customisable.

Have you tried running sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt ?

Right-click (or press and hold) the Start  button, then select Command Prompt (Admin).
