I think WhatsApp needs a SIM card and associated mobile number – if so you would be limited to Phablet devices – probably 6″ screen max. I think you can still buy some giant phone/phablets from China – but for mainstream devices I think you will probably tap out around the 6″ point.
True Duke – people bang on about about non-mancs at MUFC too – and there’s a lot – but there’s also a load of mancs. I think it happens at every club and the scale just reflects the size and success of the club. At West Ham I’ve had a drink with fan groups from Ireland, Belgium, Italy, France, Japan and others – all love the club and make a big effort to get there.
I think the resentment comes from the UK-based “I’ll support them cos they are good” type “fan”- especially when they bandy about “we won this/that/the other” – often won’t have ever been to a game (closest they get is talksport – “were you at the game last night?”…..”errr no I couldn’t make it”). See it round here now with Chelsea (kids in shirts etc) – never happened 15/20 years ago.
Always amazd me walking out of Anfield seeing the coaches lined up, how many there were and where they had come from.
Yeah I had one in an old laptop where the internal bluetooth had packed up – worked fine doing exactly whst you are looking t do (handy for bluetooth speakers too). Any of these should do the trick.
And there’s a Nottingham connection with the other Milan (AC) as well – those lads get about!

Bob its Juventus who have the Notts County colours and connection (Inter are black/blue stripes) but the gist is correct. Juve had their centenary not that long ago and I think played a friendly against Notts County. I also think there is a lot of Notts County memorabilia at the Juve stadium/museum. Good stuff.
On a similar vein apparently Mickey Mouse wears a West Ham watch !
The new cable did not surprise me BL. I also had to have a new cable with Sky Q. The fitter explained that the old cable really only ‘just’ did HDTV as it was bandwidth restricted.
Think your right Ed – turns out the old cable was jointed in the middle too – the upper half was that horible cheap coax with almost no shielding and hollow insulation between the core and braid. The new one is the WF100 4K rated cable.
Duke you just know when they do make 3pms available they will charge something daft like £19.99 a game or a £500 season ticket for your team and therefore ensure that Kodi, IPTV and place-shifting continues at just about the same level. I’m sure if it was £5 a game or £100 season ticket they’d endup making more – but their greed won’t let them see/do that.
I think loads of people (especially younger people) are doing that – me certainly (although I’m old!). I never look to see what’s on (except sport) and just wait for someone to say “did you see that – it was really good” – then fnd it on catch up.
I’ve got my STBs set up with freeview and freesat (binned sky but getting rid of the dish and cabling was more aggro than keeping it). My STBs do catchup for BBC and ITV but not C4 or C5 – but I can get those direct from the TV apps or an Android box that is in reserve.
Sky haven’t stopped bombarding me with offers to go back. Best was £17.50 a month for everything except sport – for 18 months including multiroom and Sky Go extra. Never felt tempted, but the hundreds a year they are prepared to discount me is way more than the reason I left (I didn’t want to pay £99 for the installation of a second Sky Q mini box).
I’ve got Netflix and Prime, and the Linux STBs also run Kodi and all sorts of other goodies. Plenty for me.
Different firm just been and fitted the new aerial, did it for £200, a little heavier than I hoped but to be fair bloke was very thorough and professional, run a new cable very neat and hung around to make sure re-tuning went OK.
The TVs were fine, had a little bit of grief with my STBs (linux receivers). They scanned and found the new channels, but when I set them to create the TV bouquets (the channel groups like HD, Entertainement, Documentaries) – they grouped all the newly moved channels correctly but wouldn’t tune to them. Manually scanning UHF band 55 again fixed this. This must be an issue with the box/software. In any case all working now.
The home selling is an annoyance to me. Given they are meant to be business men, why not redeloped the area themselves and sell the properties for about 10x the value Invest the lot back into the club (its their profits anyway), use that capital to push in to a constant 6 plus finish, (ie euro) that would boost turnover which would keep them I’m the top 6. I do feel sorry for the fans, home sold, team underperforming , manager is a joke, and the bandits that are your owners. Not to mention the athletics stadium you seem shackled to. No wonder the fans are ready to riot. I can see a Wimbledon style break away on the next two years if nothing changes. Let them band it London FC, and you lot go with FC WH, and start over. If you kept 50 percent of the fans, and get 10% of them to fund it, you could get yourself up the leagues in a decade.
Duke sound words – a lot of people thinking that way – and I think that is on the cards mate. What is certain is that what we have been left with is not viable. Something will give – but the damage has been done. Its our little tragedy – but for us it is just that.
Bob don’t worry mate never took it as a dig – Forrest is a great club and still remember listening to Trevor Francis’ s header against Malmo (1980?) on the radio. Had some great trips to the city ground, and was part of the 500-a-side on the pitch at Upton Park when we got relegated in the early 90s (winning 3-0 at home to you lot but too late in the day).
The thing that makes our situation unique is that our owners have not just let the team wither on the vine they have destroyed the absolute fabric of the club, sold our home for a pittance, given us a rented, circular athletics stadium, and done it behind a mountain of bare faced lies. They have also decalred open war on any fans who dare protest.
Sorry if my post back to yours sounded narky – never meant to.
Bob difficult to find any room for a joke at West Ham at the moment – but Antonio and most of the others will be on the market when we (probably) get relegated. On the pitch Antonio needs a kick up the arse as much as most of them – but the problems are off the pitch. It is blazingly obvious that the Olympic Stadium never was and never will be a football ground without knocking it down and starting again (which aint going to happen)
Only grief on the horizon for the foreseeable, there’s a big protest planned on Saturday before the Southampton game, but I honestly think the club as we (and everyone else) knew it is gone.
Regards England, never saw the game but cringed at those pissed up idiots playing up again – probably the same 1000s of blokes who legged it from 200 Russians in France – absolute embarassment in every respect.
yeah I make you right – the freeview site suggests £150 ballpark – their own site said typically £129 + vat (so £156) – but he said – “yeah but your aerial’s on a chimney, heights, health and safety blah blah…..” – as opposed to most aerials on the ground floor I suppose……mine’s about as bog standard as you can get.
In any case I’m not in a rush – but I’ll need a new aerial at some point if I want to get the missing HD channels back…..SD will do for now though and the “big 5” free channels are all still there in HD.
I’m not great with heights but have done a few Sky dishes, and have a mate who’s a roofer, so will see if I can get a better price and then consider DIY (with help!).
Bloke’s just been – needs a new aerial – wanted £250 + vat (so £300) so left it alone for now (will shop around). Its not desperate, but I’ll get it done. I’ve a feeling I’ve got a relative or in-law in this game but can’t remember who it is….will have to scratch my brains. I reckon my aerial is probably at least 50 years old.
Cheers PM will have a nose next week. They are decent for beer (lager and ale/bitter)
Cheers Richard – yeah I’m searching for DVB-T2 (T=terrestrial and 2=HD I think) and getting nowt. I definitely got all these channels before 21st and nothing since. Aerial man is due by 6 but said they’d ring so not holding my breath.
Yeah the grief is with Freeview (no Sat) Bob – sorry for any confusion – got one tuner of each on my STB and the grief is with the terrestrial Freeview channels that moved (here) 21st March
C4+1HD was never on FreeSat – shame as if it was i could have lived without it on Freeview. I suspect the channel shake up means a new aerial will be a good idea in any case – don’t suppose they’ll stop b*ggering about!
You are probably right Richard (terminology) – I think the changes are being rolled out at different times across the country – starting in the south – looks like the rest of the country has up till 2020. I know my chnnels went when they did the Crystal Palace cutover, and no devices will retune the missing channels since. Where are you based out of interest?
Sad times at your gaff, i suppose anything is good, as long as it distracts from the clubs issues. Its very sad what’s happening down there. ?
You’re not wrong mate – it’s terrible – club’s as good as dead.
Richard 55 is the UHF channel/band number – not an “actual” channel number – its more like a band (I might even be calling it wrong) with several individual actual channels in it – the channels used to live in channels 23,30, 37 and a couple of others, but the missing ones have been moved to a new national band/channel (55) which I don’t seem to get.
I’ve rung a local aerial firm who are coming round this evening and I’ll see what they say.
For me all the missing channels are now in UHF channel/band 55. I’ll let you know what the bloke says when he’s had a gander, and if the upgrade is not too much (£150 seems to be par according to the freeview website) I’ll probably get it done.
Stay tuned!
Cheers Richard – I’ve gone straight from aerial input to TV and STB with same result (so bypassing all amps, splitters etc) – same result. On the STB I can shoose a UHF channel to scan manually and scanning UHF 55 finds nothing. The freeview update for my area shows the little icon saying “aerial upgrade may be required” – my aerial is a lot older than yours. thanks
