what was the last update that made things any better for a normal user? don’t know about the rest of you but me and mine just tolerate it (Windows)  now, and the giant updates aren’t too intrusive (as a rule) but don’t seem to add much.

Duke – sort of – a bit – but the Middle East would be a cluster **** anyway. There’s three religions (three too many for me). The newest of the three is at a similarly backward stage to the other two when they were 1400 years younger. The question is, why would our Government think they have to decide whether to take acton against “whoever” – we are not the internation police. It may be bad (extremely bad) but this is not like WW2 where intervening will ultimately make things better – in these cases it always makes things worse. Leave it the **** alone.

And Duke you’re giving far too much credit to the little ISIS groupies who blow up little girls at concerts – they are just internet-bred idiots, nothing at all to do with Middle-East history.

Just on the basis of how well things go when we get involved over there it is a “no” from me. The UN may be sh!te but this is what they exist for. I’d suggest our own government worry about their own house and not anyone elses.

Still surprising the boost and SSD gives. The laptop I got my mum after a different thread was an older i3 with 8GB RAM ans a 1TB spinner. Put a a spare 120GB SSD in it, binned the DVD drive and stuck the spinner in its place in an internal caddy – runs like the wind now.

The one from this deal is due to replace an old OCZ that is playing up (after many years) – or maybe its just a shafted windows install. Either way it was over due a re-install and a new SSD at this price was an easy decision.

Still must be the single biggest performance boost (to the user, not benchmarks).

Richard I don’t think its cheap shots – its usually their fault. I genuinely do not think Theresa May has got much between her ears and is pobably badly advised – but she blurted all this out without a reasonable wait for a proper investigation (or even a pretend investigation).

Richard no idea – and I can see a motive for Russia to top him (or try) – but not to mess up so badly and not to do it now. Shouting “It was Russia” so quick also makes no sense – aside from distracting from our Government’s own failings.

Exactly Duke – why make such a mess just before the whole world will have its eyes on Russia? Its a murky world and I’m sure all countries are offing people left right and centre – but timing and method here makes no sense for it to be Russia.

Have to delcare an interest here as I’ve been to Russia 3 times in the last 18 months and love the place. Mainly for WW2 historical purposes, but have made and remained friends with a number of Russians -mainly in the Volgograd (ex-Stalingrad) area in the south.

What I don’t get, is if Russia had wanted to kill this Spy, why would they make such a messy botch of it, and why would they do it months before their own World Cup where they are determined to present a modern, progressive Russia to the world. Forgetting the moral arguments, surely if it was them they would do it better and at a different time. Just doesn’t make sense to me at all.

From a UK Government point of view it has been a (very convenient) distraction from some of the dreadful homegrown news.

Don’t talk to me about the next league cup final (1981) – bloody cheating scousers.

Incidently, 1980 Bob we were the last 2nd div team to win the FA Cup (Sir Trevor Brooking header against Arsenal). 5 years earlier we were the last team to win the cup with 11 Englishment (2-0 versus a Fulham team that included Bobby Moore). In fact even in 1980 we were 10 English + Ray Stewart (a Scot but honorary lieftime hammer nicknamed Tonka). Lucky if there’s two English or Bristish players in many prem teams now. At ours Hart (if he plays), Cresswell, Noble, Antonio, Collins (Wales)  is all I think ot of the whole squad.

Well said Bob – worth swerving Stratford Saturday 12pm -3pm as there is a big demo against our (WHU) owners. Could very wel be in the vicinity myself !

There’s a lot of good apps for getting round London now as well (National Rail, UK Buses, Tube Live or if you want an all-in one then CityMapper). I prefer the three standalone aapps. I don’t think there is a DLR app bu tiy can get the info via a browser here. (change station to suit).

It is the universal language Bob! On the roof of a department store in Moscow a couple of years ago (where you got a great view of the Kremlin) – the security guard saw my tiny little crossed hammers pin badge (no wording on it) and went “Ah West Ham” and gave me a smile.

In fact whenever you go anywhere you can always find something to talk about if yu can steer it towards football.

Of course you boys have two European Cups, Duke’s mob have 5, but we are the only club team to win the Wordl Cup single handed

so there!
