Welcome back Bob!
I’ve had an older Celeron NUC and still have a 3rd Gen i5 unit which is a (seldom used now) media PC. Both have run Linux Mint at various stages of theor life with no issues. I think you will be fine. I can’t remember if the I/R receiver works in Linux but doesn’t sound like you need it.
Great news – thanks mate!
Likewise – hoping all is OK.
Mark….all the best with all on your plate!
PM ….bargains – likewise not seen that Yard Bird. Spitfire is a favourite of mine, the others are leaning on too strong for me – nice beer for one but I am in the “session” category so like to stay at 4% – 4.5% max. Apologies all round 🙂
Tonights tipple

Different label to what I’ve seen before – My local Offy does 3 for a fiver on bottles and on a Sunday I normally go for my WW2 collection of Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Bombardier. Nice beer that Lancaster BTW.
Dave is there any issue with having the 3 APs (assuming they are daisy-chained with ethernet) taking mains power from three separate houses which are presumably on different phases of the mains?
I know a “friend” (cough) considered giving a sky multiroom box to his neighbour and was advised against doing it because if this issue.
Halifax Clarity (cracking for overseas purchases and cash withdrawal – and you can pre-load it to avoid any interest). Nationwide for every day purchases (mainly as I have their Flex-Plus current account – paid-for but includes travel insurance, breakdown, phone insurance etc) as you get 0.5% back on everything – not a fortune but adds up. You can also pre-load it so it is always in credit.
Mums is Mums-you gotta look after ’em – least we can do!
On the USB DVD – you’d get a “normal” DVD Player for£20 PM – maybe be easier for your mum?
Glad to hear that PM – shame just given an HDMI DVD player to charity as couldn’t find a taker – could have posted it – never mind – lack of takers suggests you will get one cheap enough 2nd hand/new. The dedicated buttons are a great idea – especially for new users. Have you tried Freeview Play yet – its a great feature.
I think the LG “smart” side of things is good – looks like a good choice to me. Most of mine have been Samsungs and all great once you de-bloat them. My main TV is now Android – great in many ways as many video-based apps work, but some annoyingly don’t (NowTV being a main one). UI is also sluggish compared to others.
I think LGs are right up there in Smart TV land, and probably the easiest to navigate which will hopefully be good for your Mum. Let us know how it goes and good luck.
Dave that sums it all up.
I like Doombar – yes it is mainstream now but at least it still tastes like beer and not tropical fruit or chocolate.
Blimey that would have been a result for the 120GB not that long ago!
Looks like a nice TV. Regards the STB, not sure with Freeview Play, but my Sony Android TV has YouView (similar) and you can’t record (to a usb stick or drive) if YouView is enabled. YouView is great though.
Glad we could do our bit to miff the red half (sorry RSB!) Think I’ve been in that pub Ed.
Crikey John – yeah take it easy and get well soon mate!
PM I can confirm 6 is the limit 🙂
Not bad….bit too hoppy for me but then a lot of these new beers are….still have it up your nose 5 minutes later. Shan’t stop me necking the other 5 but not one I’d buy again. Can’t grumble at the price mind?
