Oh I didn’t think it sounded bad Ed -and child care etc also counts as contributing years – no problem with any of that – just a bit miffed that once you have clocked your 35 years you still have to keep lumping in – even out of a company pension as will be my case soon. Personally found it interesting to see how much you paid in each year – a bit like watching your life go by.
Belatedly happy birthday Richard!
Yes named ranges will help – the COUNTIF and SUMIF go first (=SUMIF at the begining). If you click on the little fx sign just left of the formula bar type COUNTIF and click on it. You can then build the function “live” by clicking on the sheet and cells you want to use, and you’ll see the correct function structure and result at the end.
I’d also recommend having a look at DSUM and DCOUNT which allow you to use more flexibility with the “if” criteria.
Personally I have an automatic sync set up between my Google photos and my Synology server.
Didn’t realise I could do that. At the minute, my phone (my primary camera) automatically uploads to Google Photos as a backup and whilst I used to use DS Photo, I switched to using PhotoSync. Does the same job, but can upload to the NAS (and more) a but also supports renaming the photos and placing in to YY/MM folders in the desitnation. I also use the Synology backup service, but think I’ve got the 300GB version as I backup documents as well for me and my wifes family and I was pushing 80GB when I bought it.
That looks like it could be very useful post-Flickr – cheers.
I feel your pain mate – been through all that at various stages in this and previous gaff. Power tools make chasing easier but dust clouds galore. When I moved in to this house (25 years ago) found all the wiring was ancient with disintegrating ceramic insulation (not picked up by the survey surprise surprise), I kicked everyone out and spent a weekend rewiring the whole place. Not fun. Light at the end of the tunnel though for you by the sounds of it.
BL – If you haven’t already, check if you’re eligible for Go Binge. Netflix is included, so doesn’t come out of your data allowance

Thanks mate yes I’ve registered for that already. I got so used to unlimited data that I had my wifi turned off for years. Now Wifi at home and gym takes care of a lot of data – phone has a monster battery and just leave wifi on – if kicks on anywhere I’ve saved. Downloading in advance has been my main gain though – including Netflix which I do out of habit now. Will see this year out then I can probably drop down to something like Dave’s plan. Necessity is the mother of invention!
I was on unlimited data at £25/month. Due to my soon-to-be-changing circumstances I was going to leave but they offered me 12GB and unlimited calls+texts for £13/month. I’m tied to that for a year and will re-think after that. The “One Plan” (unlimited everything) seems a long time ago! It is surprising how little mobile data you need when you are (or have to be) careful. Podcasts, netflix downloads, all sorts of ways to be a data scrooge! My first month on the new tarriff clicks over on Saturday and I’ve used 4GB (and 3.5GB of that was because I turned off WiFi at the gym by accident!).
Get well/stay well everyone!
Glad its not too bad Bob – merry Christmas!!
I think (happy to be set straight) that if you don’t make a recovery drive then it is not the potential catastrophe it could be with Windows 8. A suitable install usb drive will allow you to restore an image backup (you still need to have made the image backup of course).
Hello Richard – if I remember right you can restore a W7 Backup and Restore image to a new HDD as long as it the same capacity or bigger (you need a recovery or install USB drive).
It is a bit less elegant as you have to go in two stages (create an image somewhere, then restore that image to the new HDD/SSD. It is a useful tool especially as you can mount the backup (VHD File) in diskmgmt.msc and explore/copy content etc.
It “works” but is better as a backup for an existing system than a disk transfer tool (for me anyway)
Thanks for clarifying Dave – I’ll have a look at the “Partition” tool. ToDo is my “clone” tool and the (still daftly named) “Windows 7 Backup and Restore” is my backup imaging tool these days. The paid third party tools don’t seem to add much except cost now.
Bob I’ve got an Acronis licence but haven’t used it since Windows 10. Dave mentioned Easeus Partition Manager – I use Easeus ToDo Backup – suspect the cloning functionality is the same across the two products.

Never let me down – if I remember right it asks for an email before you download but you can either ignore or type in any old tat. Very good product.
Acronis recommend youput the blank drive in the main bay and the old drive in a caddy and clone in the other direction – then remove the old/original hdd. I’ve done it your way several times with success – but always putting the new (ssd) in the main (original) drive bay before reboot. I think having both (“identical”) drives in play may be the problem.
I make you right – I found one of these little boxes and it struggled with a lot of stuff. Gave mine to a family member who uses it for Office tasks and general browsing (with a usb drive added for storage) and it as right as rain for that – probably not much more than that though
Fantastic News Bob – well done mate!
So sad to read that Richard. Can only echo what others have said – will keep everything crossed for you all. I know words are cheap but people do beat the odds and I really hope this hapens for you and yours. All the best.
Drezha I got one in the sale too…with a view to re-sell, but definitely keeping it. Will never play the games on it (my lads might) but streaming-wise can’t faut it. Vet snappy….and the Android TV side f it is great. I had a little struggle with the remote – or should say using my universal remote. Sorted thanks to FLIRC (in my spares box) and the Android Fire remote (which pairs perfectly with the Shield). The shield is a cracking bit of kit.
Duke – now “I follow” is on the internet (= all championship games live) I’d quite happily take the drop and watch Karen Brady explain howthat is the “Next Level”.
Looking at this thread while watching Everton do everything but score against Duke’s mob. BTW we beat the Geordies 3-0 away yesterday. So Ner. 🙂
Bob had the day off today and they were talking about this game on the radio while I was driving down to my mums. Sounded like a properly mad game. Villa are scoring for fun and letting in for fun – the Villa Fan among those talking (Rupert Bell – racing pundit) was underwhelmed with the Villa keeper as he (apparently) didn’t make a save all game!
Only 10 goal game I can remember is us versus Bury in 1983…..ten nill to WHU…..so…….of course……..we signed their centre half (Paul Hilton) ?
