@Richard, I have had it open, probably didn’t explain myself correctly. I am an electrician so opening one doesn’t ‘phase me’ ( little electrical joke there ?, sorry).

I have been and removed it from the tower, its sat on my desk now. 85mm x 65mm x 175mm.

Interestingly it only has the 24pin, 4 pin and 2 sata power leads

Never heard of game max, does anyone have any experience with them?

I have looked at the old psu and can’t see any replaceable fused but do get a strong smell of burnt electrics

I believe you are correct wheels of fire.

I’d rather have a branded psu, I hate for it to go wrong soon after.

I think TFX (think form factor) uses the same wiring as ATX and just the physical size of the unit that is different.

The size is different, its not an atx. There wiring is the same, I used a standard atx I have spare.

I’ve just learnt from scan that they have small form factor psu now (Its been a while since I’ve Fixed a PC). I’m think it might be a sfx psu. but not 100% sure

Thanks guys. I did have a look on eBay and it realised its was a bit long in the tooth. Forgot how long the i7 has been about.

I was thinking about using it resurrect my old gaming pc. It was a Dave special but the mb died and now has a second had  gigabyte in it. It’s been untouched in the bottom of the wardrobe since xp was ended

I know I’m a bit late to the party.  Had a bit of a manic year so far.

Just wanted to say hi, I’m another refugee from the micromart forum.

Such a shame the vast wealth of knowledge that was the mm forum has vanished. I wasn’t to much of a regular but had been there a long time. My “E4300 Dave special” is still going strong (other than having a new mb).

It nice to see a few familiar names.

                        Leon
